Do aliens/reptilians walk among us, They Live style?

In April 2020, a Reuters News poll conducted by Ipsos indicated that one in five (20%) of adults surveyed in 22 countries say they believe that alien beings have come down to Earth and walk amongst us in our communities disguised as “us”. The idea that aliens might walk among us was brought to public attention in the 1990s by David Icke. During his decade-long research, Icke found that many cultures in various parts of the world (Native Americans, Zulus, Australian Aborigines, etc) have legends about a “reptilian” race of beings who have been orchestrating human matters for thousands of years. This idea also has a strong foothold in pop-culture and television — some examples include the TV show V, the movie They Live, and Marvel’s TV show Secret Invasion, which all seem to draw inspiration from the provocative idea that reptilian beings might live among us, disguised as humans. In the 1983 miniseries V and its 2009 remake, extraterrestrial visitors initially appear benevolent, but they are later revealed to be reptilian creatures with sinister motives, hiding beneath a human facade. Likewise, Secret Invasion explores the concept of shapeshifting aliens (the Skrulls) secretly infiltrating Earth’s societies by assuming human forms. These narratives tap into a blend of sci-fi intrigue and conspiracy theory — echoing the idea that a hidden reptilian presence could be manipulating human matters from the shadows. In conspiracy circles, and according to David Icke, many famous people are suspected of being reptilian, like bankers, celebrities, high-level politicians, and royal families like the Windsor. In August 2024 — American politician Nancy Pelosi, said in an apparently joking way that her side was “reptilian, cold blooded, and discreet” (perhaps she was just trolling, hard to tell).

 

The idea that aliens have been guiding human civilization was brought to public attention by people like Von Däniken, where in his book ‘Chariots of Gods, he speculates that aliens had guided ancient Egypt’s civilization. The Dogon tribes of Mali also say that beings called Nommos (reptilian-like beings) descended from the sky. According to mythology — the Nommos came from Sirius. The Bible too speaks of beings descending from the sky who the Bible say had “mingled themselves with the seed of man”. These were the “Fallen Angels” or the “Anunnaki”. Icke is the most prominent figure who popularized the theory that the Anunnaki, a group of deities mentioned in Sumerian texts, are reptilian aliens. In his book ‘The Biggest Secret’, Icke cites several passages from the Bible as evidence for the existence of reptilian aliens. One of the most known stories he refers to is the fall of man in Genesis, where Adam and Eve are expelled from the Garden of Eden when Eve is tempted by a serpent. Icke interprets this story as symbolizing a change in the relationship between humans and reptilians. He claims that reptilians once roamed the Earth with humans aware of their presence; however, at some point, they retreated underground and began a process of crossbreeding with humans. This period of withdrawal, which Icke calls “the schism”, is what he believes the story of Adam and Eve actually represents. In addition to the Adam and Eve narrative, Icke also points to another important passage in Genesis when the Fallen Angels bred with humans. Icke argues that this passage is evidence of interbreeding between humans and reptilians.

Stewart Swerdlow has talked about reptilian extraterrestrials controlling Earth through certain bloodlines, including royals and political elites. His theories overlap with Icke’s, particularly regarding alien control over humanity. Credo Mutwa, a South African Zulu shaman, is another figure who supported the idea of reptilian entities influencing world events. He was featured in Icke’s work and has claimed that his people had legends of reptilian creatures, which he interpreted as real beings influencing humanity — including royal families. Rumours of Princess Diana have claimed she said the royals were “not human” and ostensibly referred to them as “the lizards”. Reptilian-humanoid statues have also been discovered in various ancient cultures around the world, sparking speculation. One prominent example is the Ubaid Lizardmen statues from Mesopotamia, dating back over 7,000 years, which depict humanoid figures with lizard-like features. Similar reptilian motifs appear in other cultures, such as the Nagas in Indian mythology — serpent-like deities; or the Quetzalcoatl, a feathered serpent god worshiped by ancient Mesoamerican civilizations like the Aztecs. These statues and figures usually symbolize spiritual power, but their striking similarity across cultures has fueled theories of ancient extraterrestrial influence or shared mythological archetypes. One such statue is shown below from Norway and depicts a reptilian-humanoid tightly gripping and restricting a human, which parallels with the theme promoted by Icke and others that these reptilians are controlling and restricting humans.

 

While this is probably just me reaching and not the case, the image here is interesting and could be viewed as a reference to the reptilain theory depending on one’s interpretation. The image is a political cartoon titled: “High Places in Government Like Steep Rocks Only Accessible to Eagles and Reptiles”. It was published 200 years ago in New York. The cartoon supposedly represents political sentiments in the United States during the 19th-century — particularly criticism of political figures and the government’s perceived elitism or exclusivity. The cartoon uses reptiles to symbolize certain political figures, hinting at negative qualities like cunning, deceit, or slow and hidden maneuvering, which align with the qualities Icke attributes to his reptilian figures. Both the cartoon and Icke’s theory suggest that those who ascend to power might do so through means of them having a reptilian nature. This cartoon was created in 1836, a period marked by political contention in the United States, particularly around the presidency of Andrew Jackson and the ensuing tensions regarding the banking system, states’ rights, and federal authority. The imagery likely critiques the power struggle and how only those with particular “qualities” — represented by the eagle (strength and an emblem of Zeus) or reptiles (supposedly deceitful or cunning and an emblem of Prometheus, Lucifer, Satan, and even Lilith) could attain high positions within government. Although this 1836 cartoon predates Icke’s theory by more than a century — there are thematic similarities — in the respect that Icke also maintains that high positions of the government have been taken over by a reptilian race (disguised as human).

 

The god Abraxas was sometimes represented as an eagle or hawk (Abraxas is a god-like figure in the vein of Zeus; a supreme ruler over lesser deities) and Baphomet referred to as a reptile or serpent, and there was possibly a power struggle between these deities. In the movie Prometheus, we see eagle symbolism in a picture showing the depiction of a character with their abdomen torn open (see image below) which recalls the original Prometheus myth, in which the titual character is punished by Zeus. An eagle perpetually eats Prometheus’ liver while he’s tied to a stake. In Prometheus, the Prometheus-like figure (who’s sometimes tied to Lucifer and the serpent) is shown subduing the eagle, implying that Prometheus has broken free from Zeus’ control. In 425 BC, Herodotus, in his ‘Histories’, equated Zeus with the Egyptian god Amen and the ram: “Then, holding the head before him and covering himself in the fleece, he showed himself to Heracles. This story explains why the Egyptians represent Zeus with a ram’s head — a practice, which has extended to the Ammonians, who are a joint colony of Egyptians and Ethiopians. So far as I can see, the Ammonians took their name too from the circumstance; for Amun is the Egyptian name for Zeus”. In today’s world, the worship of the sheep or ram (Zeus, Abraxas, or Jehovah) has been supplanted by the worship of the goat (Prometheus, Baphomet, or Satan); whose symbol commonly might be seen as V. Some antagonists represented or associated with eagles in movies are President Snow in the Hunger games (see image above) where Snow is presided over by a golden eagle (the eagle was also the Nazi logo).

 

Reptilians are supposedly described in the Emerald Tablet, also known as the Smaragdine Tablet or the Tabula Smaragdin, which is a compact and cryptic Hermetic text. The Emerald Tablet was highly regarded by Islamic and European alchemists as the foundation of their art and was attributed to the legendary Hellenistic figure Hermes Trismegistus. The Emerald Tablet speaks of serpents disgusing themselves as humans and infiltrating human society. The text reads: “In the form of man they lived amongst us, but only to sight were they were as men. Serpent-headed when the glamour was removed but appearing to man as men among men. Crept they into the Councils, taking forms that were like unto men. Slaying by their arts the chiefs of the kingdoms, taking their form and ruling over man. Only by magic could they be discovered. Only by sound could their faces be seen. Sought they from the kingdom of shadows to destroy man and rule in his place”. This passage, which dates back to the ancient past, suggests that reptilians are disguising themselves as humans and infiltrating our society. Icke argues that these reptilians aren’t using a physical disguise, as seen in the TV show V. Instead, their human appearance is the result of vibrations that alter the perception of the human mind, causing the brain to perceive them as human. This concept is similar to how the aliens in John Carpenter’s cult classic They Live disguise themselves. According to Icke, this explains why reptilians, who are actually 5-12 feet tall, appear in human form. They don’t physically shrink; rather, our brains interpret them as normal human size, since Icke believes that changing physical size is impossible.
