Piero
According to Michael Kill, CEO of the Night Time Industries Association, if the current rate of nightclub closures continues into the future, then there will be no nightclubs left by 31st December, 2029. Grumpy Owl
The sad reality is that many people simply can't afford it any more, because "cost of living crisis" and all that. In my younger years, I would occasionally go to nightclubs in Birmingham with my group of friends, but looking back I actually really hated it. Overly loud "thump-thump" techno beats, over-priced drinks, being surrounded by nutters off their faces on drugs and booze, having to queue outside in the rain waiting for over-zealous bouncers to let you in. And times have changed too, gone are the days when you could rock up at a nightclub and hope to score a snog with some drunk woman (and maybe more if you got lucky!) - nowadays everyone has to be cautious in case they get thrown out for sexual harassment, or worse. At my age now, I struggle to stay awake past 10pm, so I have no idea what nightclubs are like now, but I bet they are nowhere near what they used to be like. Yeah I agree with alot of what you said there. The night club scene has changed alot. Yeah the thump thump music, over priced drinks and nutters and being wary of getting thrown out just because you are trying to chat up a woman you fancied. 1velocity7
between 16-20 (mid to late 80s) my life consisted clubs, pubs and nightclubs every fri sat i'd drink insane amounts of pints best times ever when doing my apprenticeship we'd spend 6 week blocks at college college kids would have their 18 birthday parties at the nightclub and hand out tickets so i'd be clubbing 2 days midweek also
pheasants revolt
I haven't been to a nightclub in 10 years. Can't say I miss it tbh never peen into popular music and sticky floors. Go out about 3 or times a year for a few glasses and red and some sushi and I wouldn't swap it for every weekend clubbing.

I tried nightclubs a few of times as a student, however there must be something wrong with my hearing because I couldn't hear a thing anyone was saying over the loud music. So they ended up being quite antisocial for me and I'd end up with a sore throat from shouting in a vain attempt to hold a conversation. Not to mention trying to order a drink at the bar! Mr H
I used to dj in clubs and go clubbing 2-3 times a week. Absolutely loved it. Not been to one in about 15 years, no idea what they're like these days. If it's anything like this recent chase and status gig, there maybe hope...
2020member
The last bastion of freedom, escapism and hedonism in this country is the entertainment industry. Yes I know this industry is bread and circus. But now they’ve eroded pretty much everything of this country that’s worth anything. The last thing to take is people’s escapisms. Football and sport has gone totally woke. Pubs are now all franchises and chains - Sanitised and impersonal with transient customers so there’s never a community feel. Cinemas are on their last legs because of Netflix. The list goes on…
