Mazthehobo
Iv always thought of a system where you can vote for whoever at an election but after 6 months, if the winning party has gone back on its word, you should be able to retract your vote. And if the party goes below a certain threshold of votes then there is a snap election. I consider the political door knockers nothing more than tv license goons or door to door salesman. Campion
Also they start doing unpopular things which weren't in their manifesto, like with the winter fuel allowance. So as well as breaking manifesto promises, they have plans which are kept secret until it's too late for us to vote against them. So yes for the first year or so they should have to stick to the manifesto, (unless there's an unforseen national emergency), otherwise have to put it to a referendum or face some other sanctions like re-election. A proportional voting system might help as well because the politicians would rely more on coalitions which could fall apart if they become unpopular. Yes, but you would never have a government that lasted more than 6 months, telling the truth is a sure way of never being elected in the first place, so they have to lie
