Eagle Eye
The lyrics to this song are beautiful. It is a poem to music. For anyone not particularly inclined to listen to rap, I suggest listening to the lyrics anyway with an open mind. Rap is a form of poetry too. Added in edit: I can see if I can transcribe the lyrics sometime, but maybe two of the words elude me. If anyone else knows how to do this more efficiently than carefully stretching your ears and putting pen to paper, please let me know. Eagle Eye
So I wrote down the best bits imho. Overall, this song is about global issues. Hopefully my punctuation and diction are accurate. “There comes a time when nations must gather. Come the warriors, defenders, and water protectors to safeguard all we hold sacred with smoke and a prayer. The heart of the mountain beating inside us, we are the rock standing, we are as sacred stones. That time is now and we are still here. And the youth speak. Youth speak.” “We can remember what we came here to do. It’s up to us. We’re going to make it through. I believe in love. Will you pray with us? For the mother, for each other, for my sisters and brothers?” “I believe in the consciousness revival. These issues are more than just tribal. These are the times they spoke about in the Bible. This is our lives at stake and survival. It’s going to be okay, I got faith…” ”So when your face with rage, come together in unity and give thanks and praise for the ancient days teaching us to live now in a sacred way. One day they’ll say remember the day when everyone in the nations came to break bread, singing and praying together, waking the planet and saving the water.” So like I mentioned, these are just the best bits. The rest of the song gets into some of the problems that are rampant in this world- this place we all live in together- problems that we all face together, because we are all the same. One of the biggest illusions is separation. Even though we are different, we are all but one and the same. There is a particular line that I like, “Hope is a verb with its sleeves rolled up.” Well, my sleeves are rolled up. Love and respect to all.
