So simplistic. Overwhelmingly young adult men arriving illegally from France are not ‘escaping war and famine’. Where are they all going to go and what is the effect on those already here including previous migrants now resident? Why do so many throw away their documents to hide where they came from? Surely that would confirm their escape from ‘war and famine’? Beyond the simplistic we have both indigenous population and migrants being manipulated through, on one side, open borders to encourage entry and, on the other, people seeing their communities and culture transformed and their services collapse until frustration turns into fury and then violence. The result? Divide and rule.
