How beliefs shape your reality

What you believe directly impacts how you experience reality.

I will give you one classic example. But this goes for every single experience in your life. Be careful what you believe!

2 person's.

They have the exact same experience.

A vibrational senseastion in the chest area whenever they face an audience.

Person A believes this sensation is called anxiety. And believes that the appropriate response to anxiety is to freeze and clam up. Person A lives a life that never involves speaking or performing in public.

Person B has the same experience. But he believes this sensation is called excitement. And whenever he feels that nervous flutter he can't wait to get out there and strutt his stuff on the stage and give everyone the time if their lives.

Beliefs allow reality to express in a particular way. Be vigilant to what you believe.

I actually know a guy, who looks a bit like a chimpanzee, acts like one as well at times, who recently qualified in psych k, modality specializing in changing beliefs 😂🙄

I actually found since doing that work. Most folks actually got no clue what they believe, so unsurprising they live lives not to their liking.....

A clearer example.

Person A believes life sucks.

Person B believes life is a gift from God and every moment should be met with enthusiasm and joy

They both have 8 hours sleep and wake up to a sunrise.

Who do you think most likely to have a great day?

One wakes up and goes, oh shit, not another day. And looks for things to.confirm his misery in his activities.

The other goes, oh great, what awesomeness can I be doing today? And such actions follow.

Not rocket science....

You have to allow room for the universe to express through you. Beliefs create the space, the conduit for what you experience.

If person B is abducted by a serial killer and finds themself chained up in a dank dungeon would they still meet the moment with enthusiasm and joy ?

Well this is a different situation to the example I used with the belief that life sucks.

However, if you have a positive belief system you will find lessons/benefits even in the darkest of situations and will give you a higher probability of getting out of such a situation, if you panic or get down you go into fear, which will paralyse and destroy you

There is a story my meditation teacher told me. I believe it to be true.

I used to be part of a meditation group called thebrightpath which is very popular in Mexico.

One of the instructors was kidnapped by the cartel. The cartel were surprised how calm she remained being placed in the boot if a unknown car. They were so shocked they wanted to find out how she managed it because no one else had every been calm. She taught them the technique and they let her go 🙏

Nice story Mr H, and great that it has a good provenance in the real world. It reminds me of an apocryphal  Zen story about a monk remaining calm when attacked.

"During the civil wars in feudal Japan, an invading army would quickly sweep into a town and take control. In one particular village, everyone fled just before the army arrived - everyone except the Zen monk. Curious about this old fellow, the general went to the temple to see for himself what kind of man this monk was. When he wasn't treated with the deference and submissiveness to which he was accustomed, the general burst into anger. "You fool," he shouted as he reached for his sword, "don't you realize you are standing before a man who could run you through without blinking an eye!" But despite the threat, the master seemed unmoved. "And do you realize," the master replied calmly, "that you are standing before a man who can be run through without blinking an eye?"

Awesome tale....

Reminds me of my flight back from South America recently.

I got the call at the airport, can i go to security please....

I was like ok. Then they escort me outside into this horrible dark room.

Then this hyper aggressive policeman barges in starts shouting at me banging the chair shouting in Spanish "where's the drugs, where are the drugs"?

This dude had no idea that I was in zen state having consumed San Pedro cactus almost every for 3 months.

I couldn't have responded with any aggression or fear even if I tried.

Despite having a flashback to all the movies and documentaries you see about gringos and drugs and prisons, I remained zen like calm. And just said very calmly. Hey friend I don't have any. You are so welcome to search my bags.

He did. And couldn't find anything. He was baffled, his drug test showed drugs.

So I asked what kind of drugs he was looking for and he said marijuana...

So I was just calm and helpful and said. That's probably my weed grinder.

He said you smoke the marijuana expecting me to lie.

I said sure, friend sometimes I smoke it. He just grinned and smiled.

Turns out that there was a microscopic speck left in the grinder that caused the kerfuffle.

In the end we were kind of laughing and joking together.

Just sort of showed me. This guy at first was expecting resistance and lying. When he was met by someone totally open and honest, there was nothing for him to.fight against.

Was interesting experience......

Out of likes tonight but that's an amazing experience!   I guess if you had lied to save yourself he could have booked you just for lying to the police rather than having any actual drugs ... so yes truth spoken calmly, rationally and with God's grace can be powerful and disarming.  Have you heard the story about Betsy Ten Boom "telling the truth" about hiding Jews under the table in WW2 but managed to save them anyway ...

"However BetsyTen Boom was a remarkable person. She was extraordinarily sincere and had decided, years before, that she would never tell a lie. It became for her an unbreakable principle. One day some German soldiers came unexpectedly to the door and burst in to the house to search it, looking for Jews. There was a family of Jews hiding in a chamber under the floor. They had gone down through a trap door hidden under the table.

A German soldier asked “Are there any Jews hidden in this house?” Betsy Ten Boom had no time to think, or even to pray, about what to do. So, she just acted on instinct, in accordance with the ingrained habits she had built up over many years. She blurted out “Yes, they are hiding underneath the table”.

...

God must have planted a thought into the German soldier’s mind, because he immediately got the wrong end of the stick. He assumed Betsy was making fun of him and that she couldn’t possibly have meant what she had just said. He mistakenly took it as sarcasm, which is the exact opposite of what it actually was. He therefore became red-faced. He felt that if he looked under the table everybody would laugh at him. So, he turned and left the room. The Germans then searched the whole of the rest of the house, i.e. everywhere except under the table, but they found nothing.
