Mr H
There are two ways to play the game. Never investigate who you are. And sleep walk through life as the character culture and society gave you. Or you can investigate who you are. Realize what you thought you were doesn't actually exist. Then select a character to play of your choosing. This must be consciously done from the place of knowing. Being yourself is not the answer. Because being yourself unconsciously just means you play a role you didn't consciously select. And if you play this game as consciousness you will do nothing, because consciousness is silent and at rest. So decide, do you want to be the victim, hero? Protester? Conspiracy theorist. Family man. There is no limit. Choose wisely. And remember when the curtain pulls back, it was all just a play.
Mr H
It also doesn't matter if you've been playing a character already for 50 years. You can change to any character at any time if willing to let go of the conditioning that came with old character

There is a school of thought that, if we adopt an image, persona or vision and act and feel as though it is true, it will come to pass - through this we create our reality. The vision that we adopt doesn't have to be "true" but should naturally come to be in time in a "fake it until you make it" way. If what we perceive as reality is illusory, maybe we don't need to see things as they "are" and through a lens of limitation. We are where we are but it is the destination we should focus on - not where we have come from.

It is limited nature, the contraction, itself that creates the illusion. Expansion out via breath to create and experience the illusion, and the return of breath, or coming back to yourself as the magnetic force that brings you back home, should you need to visit Edit. I.e. the movement is we go out to the illusion via the lure of objects and desires via sense perception- expansion (breath out), and what goes out comes back which is what we do when we sleep, retraction, back home, to peace and stillness.( Cessation of sense perception ) Until enough energy vibrates and we go back out again. To do this whilst awake is to meditate. Edited May 25, 2024 by Mr H
Mr H
This is also why no money, women, no guru, religion, spiritual practice can give you what you really want which is eternal peace and happiness. The true great masters can point the student at best. Everything else is conning you. For peace and fulfillment, the movement is inwards, cessation of sense perception. It is a falling back movement. It is not an adding to movement. Doing something to get spiritual realization is literally like swimming against a tide! Where the gold lies is if you can remain lucid whilst in the illusiory world.....

The fool card of the tarot's major arcana is numbered zero and represents all possibility - it is associated with Aleph, the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet, which corresponds to "breath". On the tree of life, Aleph sits on the first path between Kether (the realm of causes) and Chokmah and it is here where the journey starts -expansion as you describe it - down to Malkuth (the realm of effects) and materiality / objects. The fool's journey ends with the World card of completion which corresponds with the final (22nd) Hebrew letter Tau, the mark or cross, and is where inner exploration begins and the dream of separation ends. There is no beginning or end but a cycle of expansion and contraction whereby the realms of cause and effect are inseparable with the existence of each dependent on the other. Thus separation is an illusion.
