My best line of defence is zoning OUT of that territory by which the media manifests and by which the advertising structure is based around, which is TV and radio/ internet, which it sponsors to put out there along with its' SERIOUS BRAIN WAVE rapid fluctuation violation through it's gubbins and rotten content of such irritating BILE...(always and always intent on copious manipulation of our ideas and of our senses) of all they put out, that is enough to give even a Saint a seizure!!... To say nothing of the embedded subliminal longer terms effects of what you cannot always tell what the thing is for your average subject upon hearing the drivel touted.

Wanted to speak more on this subject as it has risen. And summaries the OP well.

 

The one thing all humans have in common is that they all want to be happy.

 

We will describe two different types of happiness here for illustrative purposes.

 

Fake Happiness - the type that doesn't exist. The carrot and the stick

 

Happiness - the real stuff. 

 

Let's look at fake happiness first.

 

What is it?

 

Best way I can describe it is an elated state of emotion. It acts like a spring. It coils up tightly almost to the point of frustration, as the anticipation of reaching a goal or dream first comes to mind then into action.

 

Each step closer to your goal you get drip fed dopamine and oxytocin. Once I reach it, finally I will be happy...

 

The spring coils more, almost there, chemical drips get larger. Then finally, huurah!!!! I reach my goal. I'm finally happy!

 

But you find out quickly that your not. You just got mega blast of chemicals and elevated state. Now like all crackheads you must and will come down.

 

The you start the chase again. FOREVER. Maybe it's money this time? Women? Maybe an exotic meditative state? Which one shall I go for next?

 

The real stuff.........

 

Is not an elevated state fuelled by chemicals. It is made out of pure creation, and you are part of that creation. You are love. You are made of it and happiness is your inherent nature. Indeed, you can only be unhappy in objective experience. YOU, prior to experience are perfectly happy all the time. 

 

If we had to put into words this type of happiness it's not quick thrill elation, more a deep sense of peace resonating throughout the body. Once acknowledged cannot be disturbed by objective experience.

 

To find this happiness is simple. You have to stop searching for it and start being it.

Can apply this to so many situations. What we call x is really our quest for more dopamine.

 

Best illustrated by male version of love.

 

What drives a man to seek out a women?

 

Usually his sex drive.

 

What does his sex drive want?

 

Sex!

 

Ok what does it really want?

 

Wants the chemicals released from sex.

 

So you can reduce most male concepts of love down to dopamine addiction.

 

But can apply this to most of the things you do. Why you doing them? Probably have a masked reason, underneath I guess it's more dopamine and oxytocin addiction seeking behaviors....

Once you realize most of the things you were culturally trained to seek, is merely a drug addiction. You have a tremendous freedom.

 

No longer chasing around for shiney things and experiences to get a drug hit.

 

Just peace and doing things that fulfill you at a deep level beyond dopamine fixes

Why did we evolve a dopamine addiction then? 

  - Because that helps us have bigger families and for the race to survive. 

 

Why do we need our race to survive? 

   - ermm ... because mother nature wants us to. Evolution works that way, survival of the fittest. 

 

Why does mother nature want to use evolution to create fit people? 

   - err ... because she just does / because it's God's plan. 

 

Why is it God's plan? 

   -  enough questions already, now run along and play!
