If this refers to an adversary, then it could be a cryptic reference to Satan/Lucifer and - by extension - Judas/Judah. Israel sounds like Azrael. So the name Israel (which was given to Jacob in Genesis 32.28), probably predates monotheistic Judaism. Otherwise wouldn't their country be called Isr-Yahweh. So implied within the word 'zionism' is the idea that jerusalem is like the naval of the physical world. The straight path to the creator would be up the middle pillar of the tree of life.
