What marvelous congruencies. Another correlation that I have heard is if you are concerned with one or more of your main chakra points- the typical colours of the rainbow spectrum- that when you eat you choose fruit or veg that corresponds with the colour of the chakra you intend on assisting.

Hmm so what fruit or veg is pale blue? Or indigo.

Having a rough time finding complete works on this subject.
Please if anyone knows, help out!

Hey there, shabbirss, thank you for this topic. Very fascinating indeed. Out of curiosity I looked for more references and found three more: onion for cell health, broccoli for anti-cancer and rhubarb for bones as well.

This being an enjoyable topic to ruminate upon, I look forward to digging deeper at a later time. So thanks again!

A bit of an apology for the little sidestep into the tangential of food colours supposedly having anything to do with the 7 major chakra points. I say only ‘a bit’ since I essentially take it back in the same breath by the fact that I can elaborate on that topic a smidge further for the sake of clarity. 🙏 As for offering clarity, I only feel nudged to do so seeing as I have been quoted and a question has arisen regarding the little side topic I brought up. So for anyone who may in fact actually be genuinely interested in the colour of natural foods topic, well, it is easy enough for me to dive a bit deeper there. Though again I offer my sincere polite apologies, shabbirss, since I originally only intended to dip my toe into the side topic and not actually dive in at all. 😇

There is no rainbow in the traditional chakras system. This notion originated in the West. Before explaining this, a thing or three can be said of our, “Richard of York [giving] battle in vain”. (I put it this way as a little wink and nod to anyone from the UK. 😘 Though a mnemonic for the colours of the rainbow far easier to remember is the name ROY G. BIV, by the way. Cheers to Sir BIV!).

Around 1665, Isaac Newton performed experiments with a prism producing a spectrum in which he identified 7 colours. Prior to that, the spectrum had been thought to have 5 colours. For example, in his book Experiments and Considerations Touching Colours, Robert Boyle described the spectrum he produced with a prism as “denoting the 5 consecutions of colours Red, Yellow, Green, Blew, and Purple”. This book was published in 1664, just before Newton started his experiments. However, the number 7 had long been considered mystical, denoting perfection and completeness. We have 7 days of the week, 7 natural notes in most Western music and, in Newton’s time, only 7 planets had been discovered. This sort of mysticism fascinated Newton as much as science, so he thought there must be 7 colours in the rainbow. He added orange and split purple into indigo and violet.

For all you wee little ones out there still learning, you can easily look up key words such as “colour, prism, and experiment” and find out much more about this topic. Yet we are all but as children still learning, are we not? I say this humbly so as to avoid pontificating. The spectrum of the rainbow is described as being continuous, meaning they seamlessly blend from one colour to the next with no distinct gaps in between them. So the distinct bands we typically find are for clarity.

Doing a little research on how the rainbow became overlaid with the chakra system yields interesting results. Like I mentioned, the notion originated in the West. There was a time in the 20th century before colour TV was white widely available. 😂 When colourization happened, people were mesmerized 😍 and started to become fascinated with the idea that colours could be healing. In the 1950s colour therapy came into vogue. You can actually trace this interest back to The Wizard of Oz and the colourization of films. At that time, rainbows started to be understood as healing tools- something that Dorothy sang about.

In the 1970s, a psychologist named Ken Dychwald (who is now an expert in psychotherapy for seniors) was working at the Esalen Institute in California. He was one of the few early, Western, New Age, chakra writers, who overlay the rainbow into the chakra system. Another was Dr. Christopher Hill’s in his big book, “Nuclear Evolution”. (Later he became more well known as the guy who said we could save starving humanity by growing spirulina on ponds).

7 is a fun, lucky number. So, 7 chakras and 7 colours fit together quite well. And while this may be a tendency that hills back to the 18th century, and Emanuel Swedenborg’s Law of Correspondences, or perhaps, even earlier to Johan Gitchell‘s 17th century teachings about elements and planetary correlations, it does not have roots in traditional, Indian systems.

In the contemporary Western chakra system, the rainbow colours were added by Dychwald, Hills, and perhaps a few others writing, talking or chatting about the chakras in the 1970s. Most of these authors were influenced by proto-New Agers,  particularly Madame Blavatsky, Annie, Bessant, and Charles Leadbeater of the Theosophical Society.

If you were to learn about the chakras from a true Indian guru, the perspective is quite different from this utilization of elementary colour systems in the West. Chakra means, “wheel”. There are 114 of them, most of them existing outside of the body. The 7 major points that we typically focus on (as they are highlighted for us with colours), from bottom to top, they are the following: muladhara, swadhishthana, manipuraka, anahata, vishuddhi, ajna, and sahasrara. So it is far easier to simply name of them by colour. No offense to any Westerners, but the educational system there really is quite bollocks. It seems that you do not actually truly need to learn anything. You know, there are two types of memory- recognition and recollection. The latter means that you actually can pass fill in the blank exams! Attend University in the West, and multiple choice exams are far too prevalent. With multiple choice, all you have to do is recognize the correct answer on the page- and you have a pretty good chance of getting it right too just buy the simple fact that one of the answers will be correct, and you can even utilize some deduction methods to get there. “Multiple choice” should really be called “multiple guess.” 🙄 Imho, this makes for rather skewed GPA’s. Makes you wonder if any holder of a degree in the West actually knows anything or if it is simply the making of all sorts of inflated egos- expensive inflated egos at that, which actually helped the bankers get richer since so many Westerners are in debt with student loans. Much respect to anybody in the West with a degree. This is more sarcastic humour for the sake of bringing a little attention to a real issue. Call it hyperbole. 😇 Though I digress…

Back to what the old Indian guru would teach you. With muladhara the focus is largely on food and sleep. Swadhisthana is associated with the pleasure seekers- this need not be only sex. It is being mainly focused on just having a good time. With manipuraka you find “the doer”. Beautiful anahata, behold the creative artist. Vishuddhi, here you find power. Once your energies touch ajna you are at peace, for you see things for the way that they are. It is the third eye, after all. You are essentially intellectually realized- you see clearly. And located above the head is sahasrara. When your energies reach here, you are unexplainably and unreasonably ecstatic. Who needs to get high on drugs when you have your sahasrara to tap into? So if the food colour/chakra correlation has any merit, and you want to focus on your higher 3 chakras, it is easy enough to find blue, indigo, and violet foods. Doing a simple search on the Internet will lead you to quite the plethora of examples. Does Sir BIV requires a little light snack? Hmm, shall we oblige? The word “pale” is defined as, “light in colour or having little colour.” So I would not particularly use that word within this context of this specific situation here. I could add, however, that the powers that be actually know a thing or three about energy frequency, and surprise surprise they want to keep people’s energy frequencies low. It is deliberate in order to try to control the masses. It is the masses who are all the tiny cogs who make this world go round- and help make the richest even richer. What would happen if everybody in a particular region suddenly became extremely wealthy? Hardly anybody would want to work! With all the cogs refusing to turn, how would anything normal actually get accomplished? So there are real reasons to keep people in a place where they only have enough to get by and have to work all day to attain it- like enslavement. So it is no coincidence that our markets are flooded with orange carrots versus indigo carrots. Why should anyone come to be able to realize anything? Keep ‘em sad and distracted. Ahh, yes, I digress…

The lower 3 chakras cater to self preservation, like survival instinct. The higher 3 chakras are associated with a longing to go beyond. Who out there is longing to break away from all of this, and go beyond? It helps you know where you are energetically. In the center you have a meeting point- anahata. The 6 pointed star that looks like two triangles laid on top of each other comes in to play here, but I digress…

Does the food colour/chakra correlation have any merit? It is up to individuals to decide. I heard it from a reputable spiritual teacher. As self-improvement and being my best self are extremely important to me, it is only natural that I would at least consider the merits of such information. I have a particular conjecture about food. I believe that people need to ditch processed foods in the bin and eat more like people have been doing for eons on this ball we live on, before our modern day factories popped into the equation. We can learn something important by observing the pregnant woman. When she has food cravings, it is a largely accepted thought that those cravings are showing her what baby in her tummy needs. So she listens to these cravings and eats a little extra, since she is “eating for two”- or more! Sheesh! How do they do it? Much deserved credit to the strong, resilient mums! Mind you, not all cravings should be succumbed to. This is very obvious every time you see a pregnant woman smoking a cigarette. Does baby need a little smoke? Light up another fag for baby! Cigarettes were specifically engineered in order to create and sustain addiction. And, not for nothing, it seems that tobacco companies are behind some of these factories that turn out processed food-like substances. So much can be said for eating natural food grown from the ground instead. My conjecture is that people should eat only natural foods for at least a good solid 8 weeks, and expose yourself to a variety of foods during this time. How are you ever going to crave a purple carrot if you have never tried one? So you act as if only mummy earth has the food for you. Mummy feed us! Where is supper? 😭 During those 8 weeks you may still have cravings for those deliciously salty crisps, sure, but you see that after the initial 8 weeks what your body craves becomes entirely different. Let us start craving some more lettuce, shall we? The feeling is absolutely exuberant! According to the food colour/chakra idea the foods that you crave are supposed to give you an indication of what chakra of yours needs some attention. Oh, and mind you, a hundred years ago all food was “organic”, no special labels required, as this was pre the mass poisoning days that we see today. So to eat like our ancestors would technically include eating food not sprayed with chemical poisons. The 8 weeks eating only foods like those found in the chart above are definitely worth it. Afterwards, some of the foods you ate previously becomes unpalatable and you have to literally spit them out.

There is an older way of looking at rainbows, before our more modern times- people associated them with hope, along with doves. The pure white of a dove, how beautiful. If only all of our hearts could be so pure!🕊️ We would be living in a much different world! If I could add anything else of at least slight intellect here, I might add that for anyone interested in accessing dimensions higher than 3D, just look within yourself. So this ties in nicely with the food topic as well and my conjecture that our food cravings can help us tend towards our own needs just fine. Never mind the overpaid prescription pusher falsely enrobed in white like the proverbial sheepskin wearing wolf. With masses of people turning away from clergy in droves- yet somehow they put such blind faith in every word uttered by the prescription pushers! Just expose yourself to good old fashioned clean food as brought to you by mummy earth and look within. I need no intermediary between myself and the divine!

Once I find more references, shabbirss, I will share them with you. 🤗 My deepest gratitude for all your fine food for thought! 😅
