How to see with your heart

Something I've been working with, maybe works for you.

I mean literally and not figuratively.

Firstly best to be in nature or landscape view to begin.

Get comfortable. Gaze. Relax the eyes and breathe through nose. Then open your vision as wide as possible and then just relax.

Practice focusing on nothing but noticing everything making full use of peripheral vision. After a while you will notice that you can see everything in eyes view with no effort. This is very different from our experience of noticing one thing.

Our habit of focusing on one thing, perpetuates the belief in the existence of seperate objects, where as science and spiruality say everything is connected, no real spaces.

When we focus on one thing we tend to travel to mind to create concepts, beliefs, assumptions and judgements about the object/thing.

After doing this practice for a while it follows you in real life. You see Everything as one, but still noticing all modulations and movements occuring within one, but without traveling to mind - judgements etc. But I have found the movement of focus goes to the heart and the heart becomes the source of seeing. And you see truly for the first time.

If you found this useful. Then further practice is to add in the other senses to the practice.

This is one of my main meditation practices, although I normally do it with eyes closed and looking inwards, so thanks for the suggestion of going through the difference senses and pointing awareness outwards.

If you look up the etymology of the word 'exist' it means to stand out, ie to be set apart from the peripheral background of undifferentiated suchness. So in a literal sense we do create the existence of things by paying attention with a focussed mind. I got that idea from Jim Newman btw.
