William Shears Campbell, better known as Billy Shears, does indeed “disappear ” from records in 1966, and no traces of him can be found after Paul’s alleged death.

I can't say for sure but John Halliday's whereabouts are unknown today.

 

The video below is supposed to be George Harrison's testament to PM's death. On the tape, Harrison said he was prompted to make these audio tapes after he was attacked and stabbed in his home, fearing the secret might never be disclosed after he passed. To me, it sounds like George and provides many details about the event.

Sorry for having merely scanned through most of the posts in this thread, as I've gone through all of the same material in the past, as well as other Beatle-y things. It all makes for some really swell, rock 'n roll folklore and myth. And, perhaps there may even be some truth to some of it? After my in depth studies, I have determined that Paul is Paul. He's the same ol' wanker he's always been. Let's consider a few things here, kids...

 

1) Photos, especially those found on the interweb, are not conclusive evidence. Period. Young Paul, middle aged Paul, old Paul, some guy that looks a hell of a lot like Paul only he's really old now and you'd kinda like it to be the "real" Paul 'cause he looks like a warmer, cuter old man than the current "real" Paul we have who just doesn't understand that men shouldn't dye their hair when they get older because it just makes them look even older but he's Paul McCartney so who's gonna tell him to his face certainly not one of his yes men lackeys....anyways, my point is, I look a lot different from my twenties to how I look today:

 

Here I am at about the time Paul was said to have been killed in the car crash.

I was about the same age as him at that time and, as many of you know, I am

also a famous rock star. Note my coloring and the size of my ears as compared

to the rest of my head. And take note of the markings on my nose.

 

 

And, of course, here I am today,though I am no longer the same age as Paul.

Now, right away you can see a dramatic difference in my coloring and my markings.

And the birthmark that was once on my nose, totally gone now. Of course, I was

trippin' balls on some mescaline at the time of this picture,so my eyes are really going goofy.

Nonetheless, you can still clearly see they are the same color as always. 

 

And secondly...

 

B) If you were an individual with such immense musical talents and abilities that you could play multiple instruments (even switching to left handed guitar and bass playing, not an easy feat), could write some of the most incredible pop/rock songs as to become timeless classics, lasting generations, convince people your were "the cute Beatle", even though George was clearly much more attractive, why would you need to be in the Beatles? The whole notion seems rather silly, if you ask me.

 

 

Enough of this hullabaloo, I say! Real Paul, fake Paul, I don't care, I still say he plays a mean saxophone, as witnessed by this next clip featuring those five mop tops from Dublin...ladies and gentlemen, the Beatles:

Oddly enough, thinking about this a little more, maybe the lyrics to "With A Little Help From My Friends" have a deeper meaning?

U R right ........ Shears isn't a slouch .... but I do remember as a kid being disappointed when I brought the new "Ram" album home. It wasn't at all what I had hoped for. His music did improve over the years, but to be honest, we really don't know where it really came from or if he really wrote it. To be fair though, I guess that can apply to all main stream music.

There was an oft-repeated Lennon doc on Sky Arts today - I never really bother with it if it's on because I'm not wildly interested in Lennon despite the tragic narrative. But it did occur to me how Lennon could look so different all through his life. Not just the hair or glasses or whatever, but the shape of his face, his size, his persona. He'd be a big-faced, lairy geezer one moment, and then this pensive, thin-faced guy the next, depending on the footage.

 

So I'm open to the idea there were multiples.

 

And something Keith Richards once wrote was kinda curious - they were so big it was a joke. Everyone in the biz knew it wasn't for real. Something off about it all. And this is a guy who was in a band having loads of number 1s and considered legends themselves, so can't just be envy or bitterness.
