(I think '21, possibly '20- I don't recall specifically, I didn't pay it much mind, and was very ill for quite some time). I just recall my phone going mental, and internet saying they were doing some emergency alert tests, BUT I didn't have to acknowledge the alert, and there wasn't as much (if any) media coverage. Interestingly, when I searched at the time, it said the test alerts were going off outside London, and I was definitely in London (but I have location services off so it may have got 'confused'), and not been anywhere near the areas it said it was testing. Back then, I switched off any emergency alert settings in my phone, but had to do it AGAIN with this lot of roll out. Something had switched them on in my phone without my knowledge. May be related or not, my data kept switching itself on over 2020-22 (hasn't happened for a while now). I rarely have my data on (and hardly any apps on my phone), it is a PAYG, I can't remember ever updating the OS (and I have any updates to be done manually), and you have to go through a few settings to turn the data on, so it wasn't by accidental short cut my end. Something's up for sure - doubt they'd be so clumsy as to do something actually on the alert date / time though. I suspect they're just setting us up and 'checking' who turns it off (I do not believe they won't be collecting that data), for compliance and identification.
