Reporters arrested, lack of proper acknowledgement by msm and gov officials, and apparently some safety protocols related to this sort of thing weren't followed. Sunshine9 Posted February 18 Share Posted February 18 This is crazy! Saw an interview the other day with a train conductor. He was talking about all the budget cuts and how they've been running on skeleton crews. Just like every other industry in America it seems. No money is being spent on the infrastructure for the rail lines. He says it will only get worse. As a young adult, I remember walking along the tracks many times. We would use them as trails to basically cut from one end of town to the other. There would be like one railroad spike in connectors with four spaces for them. I can tell you, there are so many conflicting stories from politicians, government agencies, experts, residents, and so on, that you don't know what to believe. Government agencies, both State and Federal, are doing from nothing to the bare minimum to help these residents. When the chemicals were set on fire the smoke drifted to my area. Several communities to the north east have a heavy smell of chemicals and lots of smoke. A disaster this size and scope should be a top priority for our government, sadly our useless Secretary of Transportation Steve Buttigieg has downplayed the event and hasn't even visited the area. After two weeks, the useless FEMA is responding. Let me tell you, as someone who went to the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana from September 1 -28, 2005, with the Ohio Army National Guard, FEMA is beyond useless during a disaster. I've been to several disasters and the only organization worth a dam is the Red Cross. Government pumps all these millions into these rescue agencies for nothing. When a disaster hits, everything gets caught up in bureaucratic inefficiency. I can't tell people this enough, as a military veteran of nine years and current LEO of 20 years, you CAN'T rely on any government entity in the time of a crisis. You MUST be prepared. You must prepare you, your family, and pets for either a shelter in place or evacuation scenario. You MUST prepare for both. Do not say it will never happen to you. GET PREPARED NOW. There are tons of sites that can assist you to prepare for any scenario and according to your financial situation, location, etc. You don't need money to be prepared - that is a myth.
