numnuts
This is just so sick, especially sick, when considering how much some charities are suffering already. Who knows better, about how much the scheme is helping, Amazon or the charities themselves?! https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-64397651 'AmazonSmile closes: Charities say they will suffer.' 'The firm said the scheme had not had the impact it had wanted it to.'

'The firm said the scheme had not had the impact it had wanted it to.' It is the smaller charities that end up losing out it would seem. Quote It (Amazon) also says it has launched a new section of its website where charitable organisations can open their own storefronts and keep all of the profits on sales. Large charities such as Cancer Research UK, which raised £1.4m through AmazonSmile donations, told the BBC it was "looking forward" to working with Amazon on its upcoming store. But Becky Rowson, corporate partnerships manager at Crohn's and Colitis UK, which helps people living with inflammatory bowel disease, said the charity simply was not able to open a store on Amazon. Fuck the 'big corporate' charities like Cancer Research, this is just Amazon further pushing online retail to kill off the high streets, where even charity shops are selling on Amazon. Amazon may let charities 'keep all of the profits' but this again gives such 'big corporate' charities an advantage over other third-party marketplace sellers. Amazon want it all, they just want people to buy from them. 1

Indeed and the timing could hardly have been much worse. It's the timing that really gets to me. So, is there now going to be a mass media campaign, which will not ever stop, until Amazon has reversed its decision? Hmm... Grumpy Owl
When I regularly used to go shopping in Birmingham or Solihull, I used to get fed up with being harrassed by people 'collecting for charity'. When I shop online at eBay or where I use Paypal, there's usually some option to 'add a donation' to some 'randomly selected' charity. It's even reached the point where I go somewhere like B&M or Wilko, when I go to pay at the checkout, the card machine asks if I'd like to make a donation to some charity. Fuck off! If I want to donate to some charity, I would find a good local well-meaning charity and give a donation to them directly. Given the current 'cost of living crisis', it is disgraceful that big retailers are trying to encourage their shoppers to spend more than they already want to by making an additional 'donation to charity'.

Aye, that's the way to do it. All of my folks donate unwanted items to the High Street charity shops, but they don't 'get it'. I do too, but I have no excuse, as I do 'get it'. Just laziness.
Anti Facts Sir
Yeah saw this a few days ago and thought "one more step towards globalization....just the same cartel of "charities" and organisations in on it". The agenda is quite obvious.
