Songs I Want Played At My Funeral

Wow! Wasn't expecting this.

My Dad died last Thursday night (aged 98). We are just finalising the music we want played at his funeral. No hymns, just music.

The list is as follows -

1. John Dunbar's Theme (from Dances With Wolves) - André Rieu version. [5:19] To be played as coffin is entering the church.

2. Oh, Mein Papa - Eddie Calvert. [2:45] My Dad loved this.

3. Somewhere Over The Rainbow - Judy Garland. [2:47] He used to sing this to his grandchildren at bedtime.

4. What A Wonderful World - Louis Armstrong. [2:14] Because, just before he died he said he had been to a 'beautiful world where he floated and loved it all ever.'

5. Stranger On The Shore - Acker Bilk. [3:08] Another of Dad's favourites and he loved the clarinet.

We're all going to miss him so much.

Two beautiful songs Enigmatic, I take it your from Scotland ? :classic_biggrin:

Nah, I'm English, but like I was saying recently, even the English share a lot of blood with the Welsh, Scottish, and Irish. Being Anglo is more of an identity, for me anyway. I would fight in the trenches with everyone that has a history in these isles.

Modern music is mostly redundant, it doesn't really define me, even though some has provided much inspiration and emotivity over the years (i'd like to invent new words at mine just because i can could).

Old music can be powerful and full of life, but decadent and not my time.

Older music still (ancient/monastic etc) can be simplistic and ethereal, but i'd be pretentious to think this is what defines me.

Idk, tough isn't it?

This guy was raised in my neck of the woods, so slap this on the outro. I don't care about my rotting meat sack, and nor should you. Dwell on everything i did wrong in life, and seek to better your own self. Don't gloat though, because other wise you'll be getting this.
