That Richard Vobes is a wanker, his 'Bald Explorer' channel was losing members so he jumped onto the covid hoax bandwagon. Before that he never mentioned anything controversial and we rowed about him moaning about old people, whilst most of his donations were coming from older people, I told him what I thought about that and he banned me from commenting! Watch a couple of his vids and you'll hear him dropping hints about needing this or that, he's as tight as a duck's arsehole, and that's waterproof! He's not the Mr Nice Guy he tries to come across as!

I liked the vid, three proper genuine blokes and one total  wanker!👍 Vobes only gets by on the sweat and hard work of others, he jumps on any bandwagon that'll bring in the shekels! The other lads are are genuinely concerned and standing their corner, they are spot on with what they are saying, but don't be fooled by Vobes, his deviousness is not too far removed from the likes of Alex Belfield!🥴 To be fair, Vobes doesn't watch telly, or so he says🤔 so that's in his favour I suppose? He's a smooth talker, but quite manipulative! On the subject of cities etc, York council are now trying to ban city centre disabled parking with the excuse that it's blocking off areas that the tourists want to see {and probably photograph}🥴

15-minute cities: What are they and how do they work?

Quote

From Paris to Shanghai: more and more cities are reconstructing

There are already 16 cities worldwide that have implemented the 15-minute city concept or similar ideas, or are working on doing so. The approaches vary, with some cities looking to implement 20-minute concepts, others 10-minute ones, and yet others focused on either individual urban districts or set on recreating the entire city.

Among the pioneers is the French capital. After Carlos Moreno introduced his concept in 2016, the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, presented it in her reelection campaign and began implementing it during the pandemic.

The core of the Paris concept sees schools as "capitals," making them the center of each neighborhood. Schoolyards are being refurbished into parks to make them accessible for other activities after classes and at the weekend.

Paris also wants to repurpose half of its 140,000 car parking spaces, turning them into green areas, playgrounds, neighborhood meetups or bike parking spots. Streets right across Paris are due to be bike-friendly by 2026.

In 2016, Shanghai announced plans to introduce what it calls "15-minute community life circles," a plan that would ensure all day-to-day activities are within 15-minutes walking distance. Another 50 Chinese cities are looking to implement the concept.

An initiative in the UK is also aimed at achieving a better quality of life for city dwellers. As part of its countrywide renaturalization program, the British government announced plans to make it possible for everyone to reach green areas or open water within a 15-minute walk from their home.

But, I ask, where are they going to build the things I find essential: bank with ATM, post office, library, leisure centre, chemist, junior and senior school, food shops, DIY/hardware shop, gardening shop, doctor, vet, pet shop, all flavours of takeaway - and how am I supposed to get to work? And all those cyclists are a danger to pedestrians, esp those like me who can't hear them coming.

what do you think of trump's talk of building new 'freedom cities?'

are they just great reset, smart grid, 15 minute cities?

Not sure, but Trump will probably screw his base again, knowing him. I just assume most people are Eurasianists and Commies at this point, or doing their bidding.

In "their" twisted imagination, those things you describe will all be "online", in particular from Amazon, the online retailer that seems to have it all and can deliver to your front door, so there would be no need to travel far afield to go and things you 'need'.

It's already happening with doctors/GPs, where most appointments are carried out over the phone. And the Covid lockdown was a great way to 'trial' doing away with physical school buildings and having 'online lessons' instead. Oh, and it showed many big corporate companies how they could have their workforce working remotely from home, so there's less need for big office spaces.

Amazingly despite the so-called "cost of living crisis", many people still seem to have plenty of money to be able to regularly afford takeaway meals, which again will be duly delivered to your door by Just Eat or Deliveroo drivers.

Luckily for me I live out in the leafy green suburbs of south Birmingham, so there's less of this nonsense going on round here, and to be fair, apart from work that I have to commute to, I do have pretty much most of what I need within a 15 minute walk from my home. But there's no way I'd want to live in the city centre.

I just want to save as much money as I can and bugger off to a nice little cottage in some rural village on the coast, get as far away from this madness as I can...

Phone's no good to me - deaf. Surprising in this woke age how few businesses and services can cope with people who can't hear. HINT to those who put videos with sound and no subtitles.

Sadly, there are those in the world that can not hear, such as yourself KJ, and many others who will not hear.

London is a 15 minute city. I wouldn't spend more than 15 minutes in the bloody place! 😋

Yep, it sure is a 'pretty, shitty, city' alright! Joking apart I took my wife and our friend to Oxford for a day last year, dirty old streets and beggars all over the place, Inspector Morse would turn in his grave! We went for dinner at Wetherspoons city centre pub 'The Swan And Castle' and after we'd paid for the meal, the waitress who brought it out to us said that the management wouldn't allow our dog on the premises!🤔 I said 'but we're sitting here on the pavement area, and there' no one else sitting out here'! She said the area outside on the street was classed as the premises too, as was any car park attached to any of the Wetherspoon premises! I said 'fair enough, you take the food back, I'll come with you and get a refund back onto my card'! She said we can't do that, you've ordered the food now! I told her I could, and would do that, because you waited until you brought out the food before moaning about the dog, and it's obvious you've already seen the dog out here with us before you brought out the food! The manager said he was 'disinclined' to give us our money back, but, we'd be allowed to eat it 'this time'! I said 'fuck you, and fuck Wetherspoons, you will reimburse us, it was your fault not ours, you should have told us before I paid! We did get our money back though, and that folks is how I was banned from Wetherspoons in Oxford city centre, 🥴and I've never set foot in any other Wetherspoons, with, or without my dog! I'm really glad they are going down the drain, the quicker, the better, as far as I'm concerned!

I forgot to include my final retort to the manager on my way out of the pub, 'give my regards to the microwave'!🤭

No 'chicken go ping' then? Ris is rovery chinese recipe= Put chicken in microwave, press button, five minute later, 'chicken go ping' very, very rovery chicken! I always thought that the bloke behind the counter at our Chinese chippy had bad hands or something because he always used to say 'Sore Finger? but I later realised he was saying 'salt and vinegar'? I always thought he was a bit thick anyway, whenever I said 'Fish and chips twice please' he always replied 'O.K. O.K. I hear you first time'!🤔
