I saw this for myself in Birmingham city centre last year.   There are numerous apartment blocks being built or under development and they all have certain things in common.   While the upper floors consist of 'luxury apartments', with maybe a restaurant at the top for 'the views', the ground levels provide some retail space and/or a gym.   The retail space consists of a 'convenience store' - either a 'mini' Tesco/Sainsburys/Morrisons etc, or some Co-Op/Londis/Costc
