CarpeDiem
It will be interesting to see the numbers of people who drop tomorrow at the London marathon (Sunday 2 Oct) compared to previous years. Will we see an increase I wonder?
mishy
Looking forward to it. Hoping to beat my 4 hour personal best, but I usually get bored and change the channel.

SimonTV
If it is anything like the comrades marathon then we can expect at least 30 hospitalisations. Comrades 90 km vs London Marathon 42. Comrades 2022, over 80 runners received hospital treatment and several died. Which is unprecedented.
SimonTV
Maybe they covered it up in the UK, wouldn't surprise me.
CarpeDiem
Nothing has been reported on it about injuries etc. Normally we do get reports of collapses or deaths. Maybe I just haven’t seen or heard them this year? Unusual that.
Anti Facts Sir
Was run at different time of year in 22, for some reason. Usually March/April rather than a rainy October day.

Statement from the organisers of the TCS London Marathon With deep sadness, we confirm the death of a participant in the 2022 TCS London Marathon. A 36-year-old man from South East England collapsed between mile 23 and 24 and, although he received immediate medical treatment and an ambulance was on the scene within three minutes, he died later in hospital. Everyone involved in the organisation of the London Marathon would like to express sincere condolences to his family and friends. The family has requested privacy and no further details will be released in accordance with their wishes. The cause of death will be established later through medical examination.
