Timing is suspicious. Harry conveniently in town, plus Boris out the way by a couple of days. They wouldn't have allowed him to mumble and bluster his way through the 12 days of mourning.

That's exactly what I thought. Harry, conveniently in the UK, and the BBC clearing their schedule and dressed in black, even before she had passed. Angela Rayner's face said it all when she was handed that note in the Commons. What a charade.

I'm so glad I don't watch TV any more, as I'm pretty sure what it's like right now - all your favourite shows 'cancelled' and replaced with wall-to-wall 'tributes' and people being 'sad'.

My neighbour told me when I arrived home this evening. I did have a quick look on the BBC News website "just to be sure", and I did feel a little sad briefly, after all regardless of your feelings towards her and the Royal Family in general, she was still someone's great-granny etc.

Still, the prospect of King Charles II is a pretty grim one, what with hime set to become the "Green King" and all that...

I do feel something - can't stand the Royals but it's just the fact that she's always been there as a fixture in the background for my entire life, so I acknowledge that it's the end of an era.

Charles, carbunkle on a veruca, the 3rd will be bad news

It is. She ascended the throne over 3 years before I was born. She has remained there all my life and now I'm officially s senior citizen. I have known nothing else. I don't want Charles as King nor William but I don't have a say in the matter. Charles might, with a bit of luck, bring the whole edifice crashing down.

Shortly after the death of Queen Elizabeth II was announced, a rainbow appeared to those anxiously waiting to hear the news outside of the palace gates. A double rainbow even appeared over the Victoria memorial.

This I believe is some sort of promise from God, but what ?

Probably the opposite. They may have pumped her with stuff to keep her going until the time was right.

Why that date specifically, @Morpheus?

I plucked it out of my arse, no specific reason other than civility to allow you a small amount of time to get prepared. Shit, they may kick it all off after the funeral for all I know. However, I think like Mac says it's the end of an era, so what comes next is anyone's guess.

Fair enough, I thought you were alluding to somthing that I'd missed. Yes - I referred to it being the end of an era a couple of posts before him too, so even those of us who are anti royal feel something. But it's partly trepidation at what's in store in the next act of this bizarre theatre.
