The itinerant shrubber
It just occurred to me that maybe the government will announce that it will be too expensive to mint new coins and so all old currency will be phased out untill we're completely digital. Any thoughts?
EternalChaos
Won't they melt the old coins down and recycle them?
TheConsultant
Interesting thought, would be a very swift move towards going cashless almost overnight if needed.
eddy64
they'd have to give everybody a central bank digital wallet and issue smartphone or some device to people who needed them. might take some time, id think they both run in parallel with physical cash still being accepted whilst it was slowly converted to the digital pound afaik. These people think in decades, not years. Bitcoin is government(s) created in my opinion. At very little expense, they hooked 10s of millions of naive young people on digital currency. You probably ALREADY have a digital wallet. You just haven't been TOLD about it. Its going to be corporate BEHEMOTHS like Starbucks, McDonalds, BurgerKing and similar that will PUSH PHYSICAL CASH OUT. They all have been BRIEFED on when to stop accepting physical Dollars, Pounds or Euros. By 2030, NONE of these ASSHOLES will accept physical cash. And lots of STUPID PEOPLE will accept being CHIPPED or BIOMETRICS REGISTERED so they can NOT CARRY A PHYSICAL WALLET anymore. "I HAVE NO PRIVACY AND I AM HAPPY!" Sucks really because digital cash could be great, and make many things in life easier. Except were ruled by psychopath cultists trying to rob/control/kill us at every opportunity.
