On the surface, it's a shit thing to say with the way society's been pushed...low wages, big profits, all this tweaking of our short n curlies. It's like a taunt, how much are you gonna take of our provocation, plebs?

 

But then again, just from observation, the foreign staff in the places I go to, really do work harder. No slouching off to check their phones every 2 mins, no gabbling and gossping, the cafes are cleaner and not allowed to look like a state.

I have noticed that too, but where i work the foreign workers are also slouching off and constantly on the phones too.  It's bad management that's to blame, much like the country is badly managed by every government.  It's typical divide and conquer tactics, blame the majority next to you rather than the minority above you.

that isn't the choice that the socialists offered though. They offered people welfare benefits from the government or a crappy job and unsurprisingly many people opted for the the free money

 

foreign labour on the other hand saw the crappy jobs as more attractive because of the exchange rate of the british pound to their own currency. When they convert those pounds into the currency of their country of origin its worth much more than it is in britain and in order to maximise their profits they would cram into accomodation illegally whilst british people were living according to multiple occupance laws. Perhaps the reason so many people died in grenfell is because the tower was crammed with people

 

you mention picking fruit for example and many folk used to come out to the countryside from glasgow to pick fruit and they'd camp at the sides of the fields but then the government gave them free money and now people are brought in from eastern europe

That's exactly it, I remember years ago when it first happened reading about people in Poland who were highly skilled doctors or other professionals, who had left their country and came to Britain and ended up working 'menial' jobs here where they (comparatively) earned more than they would have done in their highly skilled high pressure jobs back home.

 

And then of course they just send this money back home to their families, who end up comparatively wealthy there as a result.

Yes and that's the reason why our country is getting poorer, not this "people are not working hard enough" bullshit.  

 

I once worked with an Asian guy of Indian heritage, he constantly worked overtime, even sold his holidays back to the company.  I questioned him on this, jokingly saying you mustn't like your family very much to want to be at work all of the time....

 

He explained to me how he was always sending the money back to his family in India, that they were once a poor family of farm workers and with all the money he had been sending them (he had been doing this over the course of 20 years) his family now owned not just the farm they worked on, but the neighbouring farms too!

 

After thinking about this for a bit I actually thought "well I don't blame them for taking advantage", and maybe they have actually taken back some of India's wealth that we had taken from them during the Empire days....  The Government blames us for not working hard enough instead.  They lost their slaves from the Empire so their own citizens must become "more productive".

Just look at most of the council workers always standing around a hole in the ground doing nothing. The foreign wokers do all the meat packing jobs in my area as its a shit job. They also run all the hand car washers.

They always clean my car and do a good job.

Honestly love washing my car, even though it's a shitty 07 plate. It's my first car and I am proud of it. 

 

I'm not that bothered how it looks I noticed the black blokes seem to take pride in their cars bloke round the corner washing it twice a week. 

Just a tip if your hose pipe doesn't reach the front get a watering can, wax and fibre clothes and once you've waxed it poor the watering can on the top of the roof then dry it. 

 

I hate hoovering the inside though car carpet is a bit of a bugger.

Well at the risk of being controversial, I think the poisoning of brain cells has been going on for a very long time, and there's something seriously amiss with a whole lot of people.

 

I'm not saying people are lazy, but in my experiences with conveyancing solicitors, mortgage lenders, divorce solicitors, retail companies etc, etc, etc, they do moronic things constantly and nobody gives a damn .

 

When you tell the solicitor's office that they have added up their charges wrong (simple addition of numbers) / they've breached DPA by sending you some stranger's private documents etc, instead of being suitably apologetic & embarrassed, they try to argue the toss.

 

Whatever you try to do it's a rare relief if you get to deal with someone who's the least bit conscientious, and I'm always incredulous at the unemployability of so many people who are even in managerial roles.

I see this all the time, some of it is when they employ people straight from university, who have no experience on the shop floor, who just think the stuff they've read always applies to every situation when it can be quite obvious they are wrong, they never admit it though and insist on continuing with their way of doing things.

regarding car I've never washed mine. I clean the inside periodically as it's where i sit. It has been washed a couple of times when it went back to the dealership for some sort of recall thing. Free courtesy car wash.

It's more 'perception deception'. By continuing to manage the general public's perception that "British people are lazy", it becomes a justification for the continued import of foreign workers on low wages.
