Isn't it obvious that search engines (I only use Google as a last resort) are an open invitation to show us advertising? The first page or so are paid for, and therefore irrelevant to the actual search. We aren't the customer of search engines, the advertisers are. Then on top of the advertising revenue, there's the data mining and profiling of our search requests which is analysed by the big data brigade to fine-tune the adverts to make them more 'relevant' ie profitable. 2 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Type into (Google, Bing, ... whatever) a search term. It can be anything, but here I'll try 'global warming' which should, you would think, generate many results. Let' try it ... ... and we haven't been disappointed - 737,000,000 results in half a second. 2. Now go to the bottom of the search page and click on the pagination area to move through all the pages of results. This should take ages, but apparently not ... Hmm ... I've only reached page 17 and it's telling me that results have been omitted but offers the opportunity to repeat the search with the omitted results. Thanks Google, I'll do just that, so I click on thei link ... 3. So I've restarted the search and now flick throught the pages again ... WTF? It's only letting me go as far as page 43, and the number of results is slightly LESS than the first search!!! ... 4. OK. Let's have a look at the top of this last page of results ... Page 43 of about 428 results? Is that all? Out of over 700 MILLION? Where have the bulk of the results gone, some of which may have been exactly what I was looking for? Well, it appears that 43 pages seems to be the limit in most searches and if you look through all the results they've allowed you to see you'll find that they all follow the official narrative. Try it! Try searching for anything and see what comes up after following my steps above to include all the omitted results. We are being deceived on a truly MASSIVE scale! There was an EXCELLENT technical article a few weeks ago on future clean energy generation methods. Its GONE. No search engine can find any trace of it. Like it was never published. I almost not using google at all for about 2 years now...here in Canada i usually have "we omitted certain result for blablashit" message at the first page and i am happy to have more than 10 to 15 pages of results...duckduckgo became pathetic over the last months. Duckduckgo gave me search results of yandex and i found yandex more like the good old times of search engines...some results in language that i don't speak and some link with pop up tabs and widows that even that ad blocker can't pick...the good old internet. kind of... One day Gates/Microsoft suddenly took Nvidia under their wing and gave them the contract to supply the 3D chip for the brand new XBox console. Nvidia were told to change their 3D tech to be exactly what Microsoft wanted. Since then, Nvidia has been an EXTENSION of Microsoft. They are not a standalone company. Nvidia were basically trying to sell much simplified versions of expensive Military 3D hardware to gamers as "cool gaming tech". The footage in the video is from the early 80s, when computers like Spectrums and Commodores could barely display a spinning cube. Evans and Sutherland were designing 3D graphics chips, then using 16 of them together in a simulator like in the video. They were 1 decade ahead of what you could get at home or in the office. Back then they were really showing the military 3D stuff off - Cold War and all. In later years they stopped publicizing this stuff completely. They never show where they are technologically anymore. Using my "go to" search engine, DuckDuckGo, I found my band does not exist. I even narrowed it down to, "The King Kitty Band on soundcloud", as well as one for YouTube. Again, nothing. Then I used my former "go to", Startpage...Shazam! There we were, The King Kitty Band. I was top of the search list, image search, also! Yippie! So then I tried the evil empire's, Google...well, bless their hearts, I was there, too. I tried a few more and I found my band in all of them, just not DuckDuckGo. So, according to the Duck, my band doesn't exist. Another thing that has created a "smaller internet" is the disappearance of the small, independent website, like those which used to be offered by Yahoo/Geocities. Anyone could make their own, limited space website for free. Way cooler to me than being on some social network nonsense. There used to be a ton of 'em on every topic you could imagine. All those types of site were closed up and everyone wrangled into the social media corrals. No "lone wolves" allowed, now. Everyone into a specific social media corral where the flocks can be controlled and maintained. There is less of that "wild, wild west" feel to the internet, over the last several years. Been happening slowly for many years. The algorithm used to pick up what i searched now it just shows you what they want you to see. Youtube before being taken over by google to become 'themtube' i remember the days when you could actually inbox the content creators you subscribed to. It was more personal and interactive. Pretty much uncensored too. But that harked back to the days when forums were alive as soon as social media came along, the twitters and such, things started go go south. But i am sure many here will agree that it wasn't spontaneous. You just didn't take things said on the internet seriously. And the difference between doing research back in the early 2000's and research now is like night and day. I can remember I used to occasionally find some really interesting and esoteric stuff. I miss those days. What I meant is that American companies do this without fail and for no apparent reason. They create a promising innovation. You and others buy into it and get invested in it. The manufacturer suddenly gives you the middle finger and ruins everything that was good about it. Others do it too. Search engines today are nothing of the sort. They used to just be an 'index of the internet', you could search for anything and as long as your search terms matched, any web page would be listed. Now its all driven by money. I get bombarded with spam emails every day from people offering 'SEO services' and offering to get our website at work into the "top ten" Google search results. It is near impossible to do this organically now, as search results are dominated by who can pay the most for certain 'keywords', ie 'pay-per-click'. And of course it is only big corporate businesses who have the kind of financial firepower required in order to 'outbid' everyone else and get their pages ranked higher than everybody else. If you're shopping for products, its always the same Amazon and eBay listings that appear at the top, then other big companies such as Argos, Wayfair etc. And if you're searching for news topics, its always the same mainstream media outlets that come up. No wonder the likes of Reach Plc spam exactly the same news stories across all their platforms, its a universal way of ensuring the 'official narrative' of any given topic is followed. And of course it is well known that the likes of Google can easily 'black-hole' certain websites from appearing in search results at all. Something curious I have always found though is that of all the many articles I have written on my own website, there is only one that gathers a large number of views on a consistent basis, it is also by far the 'most viewed' page on my site. Try doing a search for the term "turkish barbers" on DuckDuckGo, Google and Bing. You'll notice that my website appears in page 1 of results on DDG and Bing, but not on Google.
