Is the rise of women's football and sport coverage another way to destroy the masculine?

I've been pondering this for the last few years as I've seen more and more coverage of women's football, women's cricket and women's rugby on our proud chief propaganda service station, the BBC. 

 

I mean, who tf is interested in women's cricket? Sometimes they are the lead article on BBC sport. How many hits do these web pages reporting it get? They must be paltry!

 

Sport and team sport has always been a man's domain in the media, in most homes and in western culture in general. Seeing the England 'lionesses' on their euro campaign has really bought to prominence that the BBC and other outlets really want to raise the bar with equal coverage for both the men's and woman's sport. 

 

Am I being overly critical in my thinking here?

 

Do women's sports (probably being the same quality as most men's amateur or junior leagues) deserve the same coverage?

 

Is this another attempt to deconstruct and undermine traditional male spaces and masculinity by offering woke philosophies of men and women having to be equal and take equal billing in all walks of life?

I do think you have a valid point. The BBC are not doing this out of the goodness of their heart, there is a clear agenda at play.

 

However I am a fan of women's football and cricket, have been for 20 years since it was just a very niche thing on Sky Sports. I remember watching Clare Connor's England team on the box at Taunton, with hardly anyone in the crowd. The bowling was abysmal, the batters couldn't reach the boundary and the fielding was a joke. So it's come a VERY long way. 

 

Same with the football, the quality back then wasn't great. But they've feminised men's football to the extent that, at its best (which we're seeing in this Euros) the women's version ain't much different.

 

For me this current England womens side is the best I've ever seen. I love watching them. The skill, the intelligence, the pace, the spirit. And that's mostly down to this new manager who's a fucking genius. Under the previous coaches, we could barely pass the ball to each other. And these are more or less the same players.

 

But, beyond the occasional big match, women's sport is not on a par with the men. You're right, the crowds are more like lower leagues and the skills likewise. Yet the BBC are determined to keep pushing this.

Actually I ofen enjoy watching the women's football matches more than the men's because the women do not act cry or scream like the men. The ladies take a hit get up off the turf and carry on, with the men's match it becomes a screaming drama often saying they are injured when they were not even touched.

Agree with all points made. The problem i have with the likes of the BBC isn't the extra coverage the women have been getting, it's the fact they would love to see the women's game infiltrated with men, which it will be in 10 years give or take. They're just sad it's not going to happen sooner. So fuck the BBC, women are just another vehicle to suit whatever agenda they have going.

 

I've been watching the Euro's anyway and i'm really impressed with the quality and how far they've come. Of course they're not going to beat the men, but i wouldn't refuse to watch a women's boxing match because they'd get pummelled by Tyson Fury. That said i think some of the play is a very high standard, especially the goalkeeping nowadays (used to be infamously terrible). Pound for pound i think they could take on Championship level teams maybe higher. 

 

What actual level of the men's pyramid could they play at though? I'm sure they would be beating junior/schoolkids, these women are fit and muscular *drool*. Amateur leagues? Well, as long as it wasn't amateur refereeing, and they were playing on a good pitch. Maybe amateur teams can route 1 them off the pitch just with height/strength, but if they had their game together with favourable conditions they could do it. Pro level is probably where they'd really struggle.

If we lived in a free market the market would show how popular something was but we don't live in a free market we live in a command and control economy where things are chosen by the elites to suit their agenda of social engineering

 

To be fair to womens sport though there clearly IS a market for it. There are clearly many women interested in playing sport and also men and women interested in watching it

 

To what extent is it proportionate to the market share it is given i don't know

 

What i can see though is that all the woke factions that have claimed they are campaigning for 'equality' clearly are not doing that as a point of principle because if they were then there would be women, gay, trans, black, brown and yellow people saying ''look we have a problem with working white boys in education and we need to do something to shore up that demographic'' but none of them are saying that. So what this means is that for all their talk of 'equality' all these woke factions have only ever been people out for their own narrow interests

I noticed the advertising board outside the ground on BBC, and saw the averts; Sterling Bank, Gillette razors, Pandora jewellery. Just an observation.

 

To add to the discussion; I come from a culture where men and women have their own space, and it's never been a problem for me. I personally have always celebrated the differences between men and women, and have always seem the positives in male and female unity, and in their roles and relationships. I believe masculinity and femininity to be the most beautiful gifts, and I can't stand to see each turned against each other, and put through the mincing machine of the state and the corporations.
