I think someone might have posted already, but worth a re-up.

I say we need to remove the meter full stop.

Lot of folks seem to be calling this a psyop & Soros funded, im not sure myself, but others are pushing this. I say we need to do something.

I have a 98 year old friend who got £3k robbed from his account by the crooks a few months back out of nowhere, ontop of his usual.. they were quick to remove the evidence (old meter) & got him on a smart meter. Now after getting the bank to reclaim his cash, the leci company are threatening legal action.

Bills like that really can give you heart attack like the media say I reckon.

well if you've got a smart meter like a lot of people have then they'll remotely cut you off, no need to come out and lop your cables or anything that takes a lot of effort.

is this a tactic by certain groups to collapse the energy companies completely?

"Don't Pay UK" looks increasingly like controlled opposition when you see it being discussed on mainstream TV in a respectful, if cautious way, and when you look at the groups supporting it. It looks like a prelude to yet more '3rd way' synthesis of capitalism with socialism.

'Don't Pay UK' are being called out by many within the alt media including David Clews of Unity News Network (UNN) whose video has featured on the DI headlines page this morning.

https://davidicke.com/2022/08/02/dont-pay-uk-is-this-really-a-grass-roots-movement-to-help-you/

And, according to UNN on Telegram:

Quote

Regarding don't pay. They broke cover June 18th at the TUC rally eks back (ALL mainstream news stations featured them as did most red & bkacktops) looks to be have been put together by Resolution Foundation, a Blairite think tank. When I started asking questions publicly on twitter, first they started a pile-on, then when I followed all those taking part in the pile-on, they blocked me en masse, & also from  their main @dontpay account. Their email communications are via  action https://t.co/LiJ3KnZt6r, a Washington NGO set up by John Kerry staffers and handling BLM, various climate change   "protestors" & gun law opposers. Their "grassroots activists" were featured in a Socialist Worker report - all of them Socialist Worker members/regional reps.

Miri Anne Finch has also written a blog on the matter.

https://miriaf.co.uk/dont-play-uk/

Suspicions have arisen about 'Don't Pay UK' due to the glossy website which has been produced in association with 'Action Network', the mainstream coverage the campaign has received, the instant large following on social media, the connections to the Socialist Worker and the lack of any front people with even the WHOIS look up drawing a blank.

The concerns include how this could be a ruse to bring down private fuel suppliers so that the government can sweep in and nationalise the energy supply and which could help further a social credit score agenda with consequences for those engaging in wrong think. It is suggested also that the 'Don't Pay' movement may be gathering intel on those who subscribe to it.

For those who cannot afford their rising bills, some suggest paying what you can via standing order rather than cancelling your payments altogether.

Where I am the air is still like breathing soup. Total grey sky with no contrast. Been like it for days now. My breathings always shite but this is worse than 35c with 90% humidity. I've been all over the world and this isn't normal. Before anyone asks me if I think its climate change. If it is its government made

I haven't looked deeply into this, but my instincts - just from scanning through what has been posted in this thread - tell me this is some kind of 'psy-op'.

Of course, it is not nice that energy bills are rising, so I can sort of understand the reasoning behind this movement.

But ultimately I think it is futile - because by cancelling your direct debit and refusing to pay your bill, all that happens is that your 'debt' increases, which then makes your bills even more unaffordable.

Also on a legal basis, when you sign up with an energy supplier, you have agreed to their terms and conditions as part of your contract with them.

I don't think this would really help anyone and if anything it could make things far worse for many people.

Anything to do with Martin Lewis is dodgy.

Martin Lewis is an Establishment 'pied piper', yes he is dodgy and not to be trusted.

He's built up a 'reputation' (thanks to the Establishment mainstream media) as some kind of 'god-like genius' when it comes to being smart with money.

People seem to hang on every word he says, even when much of what he says is simple common sense.

"You can save money on your energy bills by reducing the amount of energy that you use".

Thanks, we really need an 'expert' like Martin Lewis to dish out nuggets of information like this!

You know he is just a shill though, when he is 'encouraging' people to switch their current accounts to banks that are offering 'incentives' (ie dangling carrots), or to use 'comparison' websites to switch energy or broadband providers.

His latest 'best one' was to encourage Amazon shoppers to 'beat the Prime subscription increase' by... paying for an annual subscription! Oh yeah, he's also a massive shill for the big greedy corporates.

And of course, with a 'trustworthy' reputation that he has, then come along the scammers and fraudsters who use his name and reputation to scam people into signing up for dodgy crypto-currency schemes.

Martin Lewis wrote the following 2008 blog about his time at the Fabian created LSE:

"Thanks to LSE, by 22 I’d chaired one of the first ever debates between the Israeli Ambassador and the head of the PLO’s European delegation; I’d gone to Korea as one of the UK representatives of the ‘UN world youth leaders’;"

Coral Cannot be at Record Levels – That is Not What Sir David Attenborough Told Me

You would have to have a heart of stone not to chuckle at the coral contortions endured by many journalists as they wrote through gritted keyboards that the little critters are growing back in record numbers on the Great Barrier Reef (GBR). The initial reaction seems to have been one of shock. It cannot be true – Sir David Attenborough had assured us that the GBR was in “grave danger” of disappearing within decades because of climate change. Far from disappearing, the coral is now at its highest cover level since reef-wide monitoring began 36 years ago.

The news has yet to feature on the BBC climate page. The Corporation employs numerous environment correspondents, but the only report on its news site had a Sydney, Australia byline and appeared on the general science page. Curiously there was a similar absence of reporting earlier this year, when it was learnt that the South Pole had recently had its coldest six month winter since records began.

For the last three days, the BBC has been leading its climate coverage with a pile of emotional tosh arguing that scientists are not taking seriously enough the possibility of catastrophic climate change outcomes, “including human extinction”. According to the lead author, an international relations specialist, the “closest attempts”  to address this have come from popular science books such as The Uninhabitable Earth, “and not from mainstream science research”. This last remark prompted the science writer Jo Nova to comment: “Essentially they are telling us we need to panic because there are no scientific papers telling us to panic.”

I digress, back to actual science and the coral reefs. Much of the mainstream commentary picked up on the steer from the Australian Institute for Marine Science (AIMS) that growth had come from the faster-growing corals. One might well comment, it would, wouldn’t it. In addition, there have been further outbreaks of bleaching. Again, the science writer Jo Nova notes that bleaching has probably occurred for millions of years, “there were just not many scuba divers to record it”. We ought to be shocked if corals did not have a full toolkit to cope with rapid changes, she said. She added that this latest 2021/22 study from AIMS, “was an absolute blockbuster in terms of busting the myth that corals are on the verge of extinction”.

Reef expert Peter Ridd said the GBR has proven to be a vibrant and healthy ecosystem. This should not be a surprise, he noted, since there are few human pressures on the reef, and it is well protected. “It is also unreasonable to expect that the small temperature rise over the last century (1°C) will have caused much impact, especially as it is well known that most corals grow faster in warmer waters,” he added.

In his view, the AIMS data show the reef is a robust system with rapidly fluctuating coral cover. We must expect coral cover to fall sometime in the future. In a comment, perhaps aimed at Attenborough, he said we should remember, “it is almost certainly natural, and not allow the merchants of doom to depress the children”.

Attenborough previous blatant fakenews bullshit.

I'm not sure whats going on with this climate change, but its crazy.  At noon today it was 88 degrees.  Just two hours later heat wave Jackoff hit and raised the temperature to an astounding 89 degrees!  Absolutely crazy for the middle of summer.  Now we are entering a minni ice age because the temps dipped to 85 degrees not more than six hours later.  Time to raise carbon taxes.  This shit is getting nuts.  ManBearPig was right.  The climate changing will kill us all.  Save me AOC!!!

UK heatwave: UK set for new heatwave as temperatures head to 35C

Quote

The UK is set for another heatwave this week with highs of up to 35C (95F) in some parts, forecasters have said.

The Met Office said while conditions would be below the 40.3C recorded last month, the hot weather could last for a longer period.

More parts of England are also facing hosepipe bans amid very dry conditions, as fire crews warn of wildfires.

A heat health-alert has been put in place for England by the UK Health Security Agency.

The warning, designed to help healthcare professionals manage periods of extreme heat, comes into force from midday on Tuesday until 18:00 BST on Saturday, the UKHSA said.

Met Office meteorologist Tom Morgan said a "fairly widespread heatwave" was developing across the UK this week with the peak of the temperatures likely to be on Friday or Saturday.

"It does look like a prolonged period of dry weather and obviously that's bad news for southern England where some rain would really be useful now," he said.

Temperatures will build from 28C or 29C on Tuesday and reach the low to mid-30s from Thursday, Mr Morgan said.

He said the West Midlands and West Country could see with highest temperatures with a maximum of around 35C, but this is uncertain.

Who'd have thought it, a week of hot weather during the summer?

I mean, this has never happened before has it?

Even twenty years later, the media still use this trick where they boast a headline of "Britain swelters in temps of xxC" (and equally during the winter, but 'how cold' it is), but as I have pointed out elsewhere, for a small set of islands off the coast of Europe, the weather varies so dramatically, and not everywhere is the same temperature at once.

Like the other week, while it was 37 to 40C in the Midlands and South East of Englands, some places around the UK got nowhere near 30C.
