I have to admit I feel infected by this place too. I hope to believe all this is irrelevant in the grand scheme. Or at least if not, I vehemently disregarded it as a matter of righteousness

Good shout TZC (so many little nuggets in Mr Smiths dialogue there, from all the way back in 1999)  (21 year warning to us all right there) ,  and... you knew this was coming (and has probably been put on the forum lots of times) but here is exactly what's happening to the public right now:

"Tell me Mr Anderson, what good is a phonecall....if you are unable -  to ssspeak..."

Its truly awful to see violence resulting as a result of all this. Of course this is exactly what they want. I am lucky so far, no confrontation of any sort in public. People here in Ireland are generally more laid back, little less judgemental even if they do seem to be complying unfortunately. I am not the best person in a tense, conflict type situation either. Physically I can definitely look after myself but am sure it wont come down to that. I am preparing myself to articulate my position politely, calmly to diffuse any situation if I do get abuse.  Yesterday I had a brief discussion with a family member regarding masks. All my family are headstrong, opinionated, unbending. I was kind of angry at myself for not explaining my side of the argument articulately and getting flustered. I was actually thinking of sitting down with my sis (same person I had mask discussion with) sometime and explaining what is really going on at the moment but the mask chat showed me (though I already knew) that Im really up against it. I shouldnt be too hard on myself, I know a lot of this is my ego talking, I want to tell her what I know,  prove (eventually) I am, was right etc. Its a tough situation for all of us in many different ways. Im reasonably smart, pretty informed I believe, but dont have a lot of confidence in debate/conflict type situations. Siblings are often the most difficult people to deal with also. They tend to have a fixed opinion of you and your ideas. Im certainly viewed upon as the wayward  black sheep of the family anyway, good for a laugh but not taken too seriously

I can understand the confidence debate/conflict type situations, same with me. Face to face more so. I feel like I'm letting the side down. I've still not been into a shop. I share things on fakebook, mostly get ignored, and had convos with people at work, mostly when I've been upset it comes out. I think I'm on the nutty list. I don't care about that though. Although it'll probably count against me when culling staff time comes.

Looking at that brawl video I think some certain types of people will use the whole mask thing as an excuse to openly be arseholes. The thing that threw coffee in the guys face, well that's assault for one, and she seems like a very unpleasant person.

Yes, I was just reading about the Stanford experiment last night. Give people a sense of authority, especially those who have an immature IQ and/or EQ, and this is what happens!

I think in these times its important we are all a little more kind and patient with ourselves, Im struggling to put it better than that. We are not going to get a whole lot of encouragement from others and society as a whole so we dont have much option. I have made many questionable decisions in my past (addictions, poor relationship choices etc) so of course those that know me will dismiss the path I am on now taking as yet another bad one. However having beaten my addictions and battled through some tough times it really stands to me now.  I know that despite lacking in confidence in many areas I have the toughness to battle through whatever crap they throw at me

Keep your chin up and don't be shy addressing the issue with others. Even if you can wake up 1 person, it's a good start. That person might convince others too. Anyone contradicting the MSM in general is perceived as a nut but I share relevant videos to family members and friends and have changed many people's opinion on the subject.

Keep it up. Cheers

go to there....

https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/advice-for-public/when-and-how-to-use-masks

download the document titled Advice on the use of masks in the context of COVID-19... while you can't find any allusion to masks in WHO's COVID-19 general advice to the public, here is what may be read in the document dedicated to these devices and their use...

Quote

Background

The use of masks is part of a comprehensive package of the prevention and control measures that can limit the spread of certain respiratory viral diseases, including COVID-19. Masks can be used either for protection of healthy persons (worn to protect oneself when in contact with an infected individual) or for source control (worn by an infected individual to prevent onward transmission). However, the use of a mask alone is insufficient to provide an adequate level of protection or source control, and other personal and community level measures should also be adopted to suppress transmission of respiratory viruses. Whether or not masks are used, compliance with hand hygiene, physical distancing and other infection prevention and control (IPC) measures are critical to prevent human-to-human transmission of COVID-19.

it's still all BS anyway but let's get over it, yet what you may read is whether or not masks are used... which means that the World Health Organization itself doesn't even RECOMMEND the use of masks but implicitly leaves it to the public's personal choice... so WHO's being imposing the mask under fine penalty and based on WHAT ?

Why do so many people wear masks?

Because believing in a virus is much easier than accepting the alternative.

Accepting the alternative would mean that every news program they've ever watched has been a lie, most of what they've been taught in school is a lie, everything their elected leaders have told them is a lie, every war has been a lie, most of what the medical profession say is a lie, the financial system is a lie and money is a lie.

This is the real reason why people so readily accept the existence of a deadly virus despite it being so implausible and lacking in evidence, because the alternative would mean that their whole concept of reality and the foundations they base their lives upon would be false.

Accepting this lie is much easier than accepting a lifetime of lies.

I walked in a coffee shop today in Stamford, Lincolnshire and was told to wear mask.  I said no and chatted to the boss. I explained to that him that he wanted me to wear a mask when you order coffee. I then have to walk 2 foot away and sit down at a table where I don't need a mask.  The staff wasn't wearing any either. He got ratty and told me to leave. I told him there was no virus and he laughed, then every one in the cafe were calling and cursing me. We have a long way to go yet. The trouble is, they are scared sheep which stick together

Sad times

Im around 20 miles from Stamford.  My partner was abused in B and M the other day by some old people. They called over a staff member ( who she said was unmasked) and grassed on my partner.  The worker laughed and said nothing I can do.

Shameful how people think a mask will save them from the powers that be.

I agree. Also, then it means taking responsibility.

@Jason greeves mmm, it probably didn't help by you telling everyone in the cafe that there wasn't a virus!  Did the owner tell you not to come back??!!

Sorry, your post made me laugh and no offence meant.

This might give you a bit of reassurance to have in your pocket when being baaaaaard at by the sheep, print this off and carry it round with you, memorise what you can, but good to have handy in case a sheep tries it on:

When on page - click on 'The tool kit is HERE'

It tells you your rights ina very brief manner and what ALL shopkeepers MUST do (and, more importantly DO NOT)

which coffee shop was it ? I haven’t had any trouble nappy-free in the supermarkets in Stamford to be fair.

If you need a haircut and/or shave in Stamford without the mask nonsense from an awake barber , PM me. You may well know the business anyway.

If you want to go into a shop without a silly mask, go early as there are fewer people around.

Even just going into a newsagent  for some sweets is a victory,  however small it may seem at first.

You are right, thanks. I've decided I'm gonna do it tomorrow. Tesco. I let you know how it goes :-)

Depending on  your character..I found I was apprehensive at first.

Expecting to get into a fight or something.. what I found was you just get left alone, you might get some looks from 'them', but they are in fear mind anyway and that is their own responsibility.

The Medical Protection Society (MPA) carried out a poll of healthcare professionals (think that means GPs) and '84% felt it should be mandatory for those attending any healthcare setting to wear a face covering'.  Link here:

I was trying to find out who runs/owns this company, and came across this:

Interesting @BlueSky.  I originally found the article in 'Pulse' which is for GPs.  I don't understand where they fit in with the British Medical Association who represent NHS doctors (in a union sense) and provide access to legal representation.  Am not sure exactly what is compulsory apart from the annual fee to the regulator, the General Medical Council.  Suspect that they have to belong to the BMA as well.  It's all a bit murky isn't it.

The Medical Protection Society claim on their website:

We are the world’s leading member-owned, not-for-profit protection organisation for doctors, dentists and healthcare professionals.

Founded in 1892, we exist to protect and support the professional interests of more than 300,000 members around the world, helping them to understand and navigate the ongoing challenges of modern practice. Today we proudly support members in the United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, the Caribbean and Bermuda.

Our in-house experts can assist members with the wide range of legal and ethical problems that can arise from their professional practice. This can include assistance with clinical negligence claims, complaints, medical and dental council inquiries, legal and ethical dilemmas, disciplinary procedures, inquests and fatal accident inquiries.

Our philosophy is to support safe practice in medicine and dentistry by helping to avert problems in the first place. We do this by promoting risk management through our workshops, e-learning, clinical risk assessments, publications, conferences, lectures and presentations.

We also actively campaign for regulatory and legal reforms that benefit members and the wider healthcare professions.

We are not an insurance company, and all benefits of MPS membership are discretionary, as set out in the Memorandum and Articles of Association
