@Mitochondrial Eve excellent post. This video which I watched yesterday afternoon speaks of something similar well worth a watch in my opinion.

Also there seems to be uncertainty of whether newsagents and 'little' shops will be implementing these rules. And whether or not I am going to have to wear my plague doctor mask to purchase some tea and milk.

its already over. What I'm doing tomorrow is printing this off, walking into shop as if normal.

If stopped, show them point in red.

It would be also helpful to show this to the sheeped maskers giving you dirty looks, don't shout at people, remember these not the enemy, they are good people,OUR PEOPLE who have been manipulated and scared shitless by .gov.

It might be my MUM your shouting at 😉

explain calmly the exemption and be friendly always. Hopefully others will follow.

DON'T LOSE YOUR RAG IT WILL LOOK BAD ON US.

Have a good read of this..

I printed off some exemption cards for my elderly parents, one has asthma one has copd, if anyone hassles them they had better beware. I will get into a Dionysian rage..

ALDI:

The German discounter said in line with government guidance, face masks will be mandatory in all stores from July 24.

The chain, which has also introduced a new traffic light system to manage social distancing queues, said customers should continue to maintain a safe distance from others, shop by themselves where possible and try to use contactless payments which have been increased to £45.

Update 16.40 22/07/2020

ASDA: Edited, awaiting update.

Co-op (Check with your local before you travel as may vary in advice)

“Ahead of the official start date of the 24 July for customers to wear face coverings in shops, we will be asking colleagues to do so from today (Monday 20th). This is to ensure the message is as clear and consistent as possible for everyone.

“Our colleagues have all been supplied with face masks for when they are working and will be playing their part in helping our communities to stay safe. We want our colleagues to feel comfortable wearing a face covering for up to eight hours at a time, and so are also ensuring more comfortable face visors are available to those who prefer to wear one.

“Some customers are rightly exempt from this request, for health or religious reasons. We have made these exemptions very clear on our website centralengland.coop and all team members will be reminded of these important exemptions. Priority access for NHS team members is still in place, to allow these front-line workers to be in our and out of store as quickly as possible.

“So we now ask all of our customers to wear a face covering so we know together we’re co-operating in our efforts to be safe.”

The new measures on wearing face coverings will sit alongside a range of others already in place at Central England Co-op sites, which have been very well received by customers.

Iceland:

Iceland says it has made face masks available for all store colleagues who want to wear one but it is up to them whether they wish to do so.

''If mandatory face masks in shops will make our customers & colleagues safer then they are welcome - but we won't put our staff at risk by asking them to police this. The UK cannot afford a second wave, so we all need to play our part & show care and consideration for each other.''

LIDL:

The supermarket is advising customers to wear a face covering in stores.

It said on the website: "Wearing a face covering in our stores is mandatory in Scotland and will be in England from July 24, in line with government regulations.

"If you're shopping in any of our stores in Wales, it is advised that you wear a face covering where it might be difficult to stay 2m away from others to help keep everyone safe."

Marks & Spencer: Edited, awaiting update

Morrisons: Not seeing any info as of yet, will update ASAP

Sainsburys:

Masks are available for all our colleagues who wish to use them while they work or travel to their place of work.”

They are not yet compulsory for customers in a way that is enforced by staff.

''The company will follow the latest guidelines, but as outlined in the statement from the British Retail Consortium, will not be enforcing the rules themselves.

Shoppers who don’t abide by the new rules will be facing fines of up to £100, the government is set to announce.

Sainsbury's has previously adopted a policy stating: "Masks are available for all our colleagues who wish to use them while they work or travel to their place of work.”

Tesco: Edited - Awaiting further update

Waitrose:

"In line with current government guidelines, all customers will be required to wear face coverings in our shops from 24th July unless they have an exemption. We are encouraging but not mandating Partners to use face coverings."

Here in Ireland it has been mandatory since last monday, though not yet enacted into law. The govt here has also made it mandatory for shop assistants. Usually there are one or two other customers without masks. I havent yet come across any obstructive security guards or been on the wrong end of disapproving comments from anyone. Theres the odd disapproving stare as I walk unmasked pass the sanitizers of course.  I suspect just like some places in Scotland they may start asking for a doctors exemption letter after it progresses into law. I will plan a trip to the doc shortly to cover that end. It can be a bit of a lonely furrow at times and its hard to believe its come to this point so quickly. Ive always been a bit of a maverick though and been through some tough scrapes in the past where I had to show strength of character and that stands to me now. The words of a former rugby international whom I knew come to mind , before he took to the pitch he once said  "we are in this together lads, but when you go out there youre on your own". Thats the way it can feel every day when you go out there so its great to come on here to recharge the batteries, reading about the struggles of like minded people,  watching Davids videos, the two Vernons, the other outspoken medical people etc

I have now opted for the plague Dr mask. My newsagents told me that "it is tomorrow" so I am afraid I am going to have to pluck up the courage.

If the normies challenge me I'll tell them I look no more ridiculous than you do..

I am afraid I ruined the chance to engage in a possibly awake young Asian gentlemen looked about 18. He said "you can put your stuff down if you want" while he was paying with his card. I replied thanks and did so. I then asked the shopkeeper about masks and the young lad said oh is it tomorrow? I'll do my shopping now then.

I wished I would have brought the mask in my bag to show him my way of "protesting". If on the rare chance you are reading this please contact me. I missed the opportunity to strike up a convo with a possible human being...

It was D-Day for me yesterday as I set off to the nearest supermarket. To be honest as I drove there I still didn't know what I would do when I got there...

Option 1. Make a scene,  tell them I don't believe in any of this mask bollocks and see what happens.

Option 2. Conform. I don't have, or have any intention of getting a mask, but I have one of those snood things I'd gotten for hiking last winter, which was around my neck and could be pulled up over my mouth if required (and I was willing to!).

Option 3. About turn, while informing them I'll be taking my custom elsewhere (but where I'm not sure, possibly getting my groceries delivered?)

Option 4. Inform them when stopped that I have difficulty breathing when wearing a mask and therefore according to the government website I'm exempt (and also according to the same website I'm not to be judged or criticized for not wearing one). Everybody has difficulty breathing while wearing a mask because it's unnatural, so it's down to the degree of difficulty you are experiencing. The only person who can determine that degree is the mask wearer themselves. Nobody else can say whether on not you are experiencing difficulty or to what degree.

I was sort of leaning towards this option 4 but I would prefer to have had a printout of the page as backup (unfortunately my printer's broke)

Anyways, I walked into the supermarket. The first thing I noticed was that all the staff were masked up. The second thing I saw was that all the shoppers were masked too.

So I braced myself and started shopping. The first thing I encountered was that none of the staff said or did anything, so I continued. I walked by people in the isles, and I paid no attention to the arrows, hand sanitizer, social distancing or anything else as I shopped. Nobody said anything to me. Nobody even looked oddly at me.

So I got my groceries, paid at a self-service teller and walked out...

It could be completely different next time I venture out to the shops, but this was my shopping experience yesterday.

I wouldn't  doubt it..

A supermarket argument  becomes  a punch up, something like that.

The way they've managed to impose this is ridiculous.  Back in March, those Downing St pantomime briefings were all about 'flattening the curve, then life would return to normal'. Somehow, they've got away with it and it's not even a sleight of hand. It's absolutely blatant.

I agree. I think this may belong in its own thread, but my mother was in her twenties when the more lethal Hong Kong Flu passed through the UK in 1968. She doesn't remember it (like most people I presume) because there wasn't 24/7 bombardment/brainwashing by media. As an older person who spends most of her time watching the mainstream nowadays, she thinks this concoction is lethal. I can sympathise to some extent, given her age, but there's little excuse for anyone not in the high-risk groups for flu.

I remember  my friends  mum telling me about this flu, it left her with some asthma so that is what she remembered it by.

She's in her 90s now ...

Walked by an elderly couple today, both wearing masks outside in hot weather. The endless propaganda has some of them in a state of fear, and in some cases no relatives or friends to help. Once the weather gets colder, are they going to still enforce the elderly into socially distanced queues outside of shops in the wet?

It's disgraceful how the elderly are affected by this scam, expect to see more cases like the tweet below 😟
