when i was at the hospital on Monday a bit after we got there some admin person came round and said to the nurses mask where mandatory again.  still quiet a few of the patients didn't bother and the nurses didn't try to force them to wear them.  got the nurse to give my mum one of those face visors, so don't think its the actual medical staff that's pushing it too hard.

Why they wear it again? 😒

Jesus wept what wrong with you. Its summer its meant to be warm. Go hide in a fridge.

We had often such temperatures in Poland and it's not wise to stay in the sun 10-14... It's golden rule... and hat... ;)

More people die in the winter than summer but extreme heat can break old and babies...

BTW recent Polish summers and winters are seriously different recently... The weather reminds more this British than Polish...

Sounds like you have enriched your enclosure nicely Dale. You can knaw on frozen ice buckets with suspended fruits when you're finished on the tyre swing.😉

Strange that they chose only monkeys...eh?

And the bridge has joined the conspiracy community...... 😂

Jim Dale is predicting the first bout of warm weather for Britain in late April and much warmer temperatures later in Summer.

"UK weather: Brits set for FIRST 'heatwave' of year as mercury could soar to 25C"
"Brits could be set for a 'soft heatwave' as the country warms up over spring, a weather expert has predicted. Jim Dale, senior meteorologist at British Weather Services, said there could be a 'soft heatwave for the second half of April'"

https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/uk-weather-brits-set-first-29652075

"UK weather: 'Burning hot' heatwave to strike as plumes of searing African heat hit Britain"

"Britain's first "burning hot" heatwave may be just around the corner with blistering sunshine about to send temperatures rocketing.

A "well-overdue" summer blast driven by plumes of searing African heat could be lined up to hit the UK within weeks."

"Strengthening high pressure and tropical 20C winds tumbling over the Scottish mountains this weekend will kick start a gradual roast to summer, experts say.

Meteorological events in the tropical Pacific are then lined up to drive what is now tipped to be a three-month mega-blaze."

Dale added: "Meteorologists are now watching for El Nino which is looking likely.

"After the very strong La Nina, it’s very likely that the climatic balance will swing back towards an El Nino event this year.

"While this will have more of an effect in Australia and the tropics, it could catch up with us later in the summer.

"If we get a drag out of Africa, we could get some burning hot periods over summer."

As thermometers rise, bookies have started hedging their bets on a summer heatwave with Coral now 1-2 for the hottest year on record."

Who would believe a member of the Carry On cast on weather? Since it has varied between 3 and 15 degrees this week, 25 would be a nice change - get the veg well underway

This is worth adding to my 'media propaganda' thread, "soft heatwave" indeed!

Jim Dale predicts that El Nino will affect the British weather in 2023 and 2024:

"Britain faces "chaotic" weather within months as conditions are tipped to enter "unprecedented territory" with the return of El Nino. El Nino is a phenomenon occurring every three to seven years when the Pacific Ocean heats up more than usual, raising global temperatures. British meteorologist, Jim Dale has warned Express.co.uk the weather event will dramatically affect the UK in months to come as the heat starts to aggravate nearby weather systems. He says the UK will end up in a "different world" where "chaotic occurrences" are more likely to happen. El Nino, which has now been confirmed by the UN, will indirectly affect the UK by disrupting normal types of weather. This, Jim Dale explains, could take a matter of months, affecting Brits in the autumn, winter and spring months rather than this summer."

"Jim Dale says that the effects of El Nino, combined with "where we are in terms of climate change" are what make this El Nino harder than previous ones to predict as it could tip push global temperatures over the 1.5C global warming threshold."

Sigh...

More "exact" predictions from "The Daily Express", citing Jim Dale commenting on August 2023.

"UK heatwave: Exact date temperatures will finally hit 32C again after deluge of storms"

"Jim Dale, senior meteorologist for British Weather Services, told Express.co.uk that it's thanks to an Azores high pressure system that the nation may be finally set for a somewhat delayed summer."

"He added: "There should be a south to north progress with 32C in south east England by August 12, in my opinion, though, it's still a forecast for now.""

The BBC's current prediction (1st August)  for 12th August in London is 24 degrees C.
