Thanks for your reply. I love professional snooker, there's something uniquely relaxing to me about it, including getting to know the players over the years, the things they say, the old favourites, the new-comers, the venues ...

Indeed that's why it's nice to watch. In real life the game is a BASTARD. An absolute bastard. Haha.  I recently went to see Ronnie smash a bunch of local amateurs. One thing struck me watching him in real life moreso than tv - he never hits the ball harder than he needs to.

Watching it over lockdown was disturbing though, and an eye opener, along with some noted comments from the players and commentators. Trying to read what they really thought.

Sorry, just to answer briefly for now - I often have a curious sence of wonder ... if it's possible to do this or that, about lots of things in life, and in snookier it's sometimes just that, added to the astonishment of .... how did that not go in ?!

Ok, I know that's also part of the wonder of sport 😃

I'm with ant-facts on this one, i don't suspect any major foul play without evidence. As far as going along with the agenda, well some do some don't, some aren't really sure and go along for the sake of their career. It's the agenda pushers which bother me, someone like Klopp. And Phil Yates. Ha.

Indeed it is. I could never master the art of it when I was young but I preferred playing snooker in a dingy hall near Victoria station than an insipid game of pool in a pub. It was an interesting place. They had tables reserved for the good players and there were games there played for big money. The duffers like me got the back end tables for 50p an hour and a cup of tea thrown in. I never owned a cue but used the ones there. Great way to spend a cold winter's afternoon.

Oh dear, looks like the building of air conditioned football stadiums in one of the hottest countries in the world has lead to carbon footprints that are 8 times greater the official estimates... who on earth could have predicted that? No, don’t answer that one...

...Football's a fucking joke...Klopp saying they will win the CL "for Ukraine". WTF is he on about? The Daily Mail bum boy Martin Samuel called it classy...more like crass. Is Liverpool related to the Yewcrane? Do they have a captain from there? Is Klopp from there? Are they playing anywhere near the place? No. So WTF is that twerp on about, other than virtue-signalling and pushing his paymasters agenda.

So pleased they lost.

Not to mention, utterly puerile to suggest that families being subjected to full-on war care in the least about who wins a football match, the Eurovision Song Contest, or any other pointless activity, I'd have thought.

Imagine it - my home is blown to smithereens along with my country's infra-structure and my kids are being traumatised and slain, but if a football team somewhere scores more goals than another football team, my life will be enriched. Sheer nonsense.

I really enjoyed this. As in real life / face to face, conversations merge from concerns, to empathy, to personal and enjoyable experiences and memories. I try to balance lifestyle, politics, news, lessons, history, jokes, beliefs ... a bit of everything, so as not to get us all too dragged down with the ugly nonsense ... We need our strength, and it's nice to get to know each other.

I smiled at the snooker anecdotes, and have thought of it intermittently ever since. 😃 It's so beautifully human. I better start a thread?! Is there a mixed post here for the little things we see and do that make us tick ...

I met Steve Davis 2 years ago, and Jimmy White last autumn. He was charming and fascinating, and it was lovely to see him in the flesh. Especially with all the fear 'restrictions' still going on. He made me feel that was all in another world.

Continuing on from a post I made in this thread on May 19 from my local rag

Inquest concludes young man died from AZ jab

The Mail, the Independent, the BBC, and the metro have headlines 4 days ago mentioning 'out of date advice'

Thanks Ynot Hump, very disturbing and ties in with a lot of what we found out over the last 2 ish years

Really well said mate. There is a "sport and entertainment" section, and a snooker-specific thread would be great.

Davis or White (regarding the description)? They're very different, albeit both introverted i think. Jimmy is of the Ronnie/Trump mould, many top sports players share similar psychological facets as them because they are most in tune with their body and physical surroundings https://www.psychologyjunkie.com/the-adventurers/

Steve Davis is cool, classic thinker type and interested in a variety of things. Took the game to another level.

I am not watching any football anymore. Its just a weird cult at this point. If i get into sport again it will be cricket. Glad hungary one though. Its just beyond a joke. "Oh look booing, you must be racist racist bad'. Retarded. Makes my piss boil. Honestly not even going to give my energy to these submersive cretins.

I wouldn't mind so much i know the money is ridiculous but if i could just watch the game instead they add this crap with it. Their self awareness is non existent. I mean if you was "a big football star" you might think to yourself okay i am paid handsomely to play the sport i love howabout i shut my mouth and play football? I wouldn't mind so much but its not like any of them have anything intelligent to say.

Or better yet imagine being in your late 20s and earning 60k to 150k or even 200k a week? Perhaps (some are at their peak 27 -29) if you didn't agree with what was happening with the politics etc why not speak out? Even more so if your career is waning or you are starting to slow down,I would tell my agent to fuck off and come out and say my truth. If they try to hound me out retire and make a career, or become a peoples champion sure you could get a job on gb news or something or better yet start your own internet channel. People like me live pay to pay cheque and while i would stand up against immoral actions, i am on my arse if i lose my job these parasites aren't. And i am not bitter because they are successful either. Couldn't give a shit normally but its now lunacy levels.  To the point blokes who are in regular jobs saying with no irony "ah yeah man city are only being offered 80mil which is nothing really, peanuts".

What i found insulting was players like sterling being brought up in our country and being given the opportunity to earn large amounts of money and have fans adore him, and then start virtue signalling and crying. Imagine if some of these high profile black players came out and said "actually my experience of england is actually very tolerant, i am proud to be playing for my country and i love the people. Or even i love the natives. But nah would rather stick their fingers up and cry because some moron in a crowd shouted bad word. Not saying its acceptable either.

And so you shouldn't be, no need to envy someone who has lots of fiat based paper in their pocket. If the WEF have their way, their papers is meaningless.

Lot of talk in Tory papers about removing Doris, which wouldn't surprise me at all, served his purpose now.  Interesting if they do get rid of him who they will bring in next.

Boris Johnson faces '80 per cent chance of leadership challenge' after two knife-edge by-elections this month, with '67 Tory MPs' thought to have submitted no-confidence letters and some threatening a 'vote strike'
