Are landlines about to become extinct ?

My landline doesn't get hacked or stolen - and NEVER vibrates in my pocket during Tchaikovsky's Fifth: BT's Beattie MAUREEN LIPMAN gives a ringing defence of the home phone as it faces extinction

MAUREEN LIPMAN: I hate with a passion the drug that I am addicted to. It is oblong, sits in a leatherette cover, at my bedside, in my handbag, and wants my attention like a chihuahua on heat.

People are rapidly ditching lanelines and packages from bt and virg because they're always putting up the prices and virgin especially there is loads of downtime.

I know of 5 households who have ditched these for 4G routers with sim slot and unlimited data tariffs. Apparently 5g routers are still too expensive.

Also you can move house and get a sim slot router and data sim up and running next day where BT and Virg you usually have to wait a couple of weeks for a connection date.

Thanks but I don't want wireless radiation in my home. Landlines avoid this. Broadband through a landline is perfectly adequate for most needs.

But they want it gone, because they want every home, every room in every home, every fucking part of every room in every home, bathed in this stuff. And it harms, as well as leaving you able to be tracked and controlled.

Most based sheriff in America, Florida of course, told homeowners they're "more than welcome to shoot" intruders, in fact he "prefers it" as it "would save taxpayer money" as they won't be reoffending. Because the homeowner in question missed the intruder, the sheriff encouraged them to attend their weekend workshops to become better shots! hahaha

Good advice considering they've unleashed millions of aggressive ferals upon the American population, openly encouraged by the media and establishment, raping and killing with impunity.

Like clockwork, liberals and media kvetching and clutching their pearls.

Landline phones are not becoming 'extinct' - there are plans to switch off the analogue phone carrier network in the UK in the next few years or so, but you'll still be able to have a fixed landline phone, only difference being that it will be a 'digital' line provided via your broadband, my understanding is that it is similar to if not the same as VOIP (voice over internet protocol) devices.

I believe that Virgin Media here in the UK already provides this - my broadband router provided by them has ports for digital phones to connect to, though I opted for a 'broadband only' package with them, so no cable TV or phone line for me. If people want to call me, they can do so on my mobile phone, which I hardly use to be honest.

At my old property, I did have broadband and a BT phone line provided by Plusnet. It was crazy because (at the time) you were forced to pay something like £14.99 a month just for 'line rental', so I did have a landline phone which I didn't really use. Vast majority of calls I received on that phone though were from cold-callers (though I rarely gave that number to anybody) so in all fairness I really now don't miss having a landline phone now.

There seems to be some misconceptions about phone lines, landlines and broadband connections.

For people using the BT network (ie your modem/router connects to a phone socket via an ADSL splitter), your broadband (internet) uses digital signals, while your 'landline' phone uses analogue signals. They are both received through the same cables connected to your home. It is the analogue system that will be turned off. You'll still be able to use a newer 'digital' phone as a landline phone.

Most current analogue landline phones are already 'cordless' though (DECT), being connected wirelessly to a base unit, so I'm not sure why there's a sudden concern about wireless radiation.

Cheers GO, that will put my folks' minds at rest, they still use a corded landline.

And we've avoided DECT (and Smartphones) ever since they came along, because of the wireless issue. They're notorious for giving off loads of crap.

Wired's the only way to be. Good that this needn't change.

Birmingham Dogs Home forced to close after virus outbreak

Generic rescue dog pic

Quote

A dogs home has had to close temporarily after an outbreak of parvovirus in its kennels.

Birmingham Dogs Home said it will be closed for three weeks to reduce the risk of the virus spreading.

Parvovirus is highly contagious and attacks cells in dogs' intestines. It can be fatal if left untreated.

From: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-birmingham-61326547

They're coming for your pets... again!

During the Covid 'pandemic' and lockdowns, there were reports about cats and dogs being 'abandoned' because of 'fears' about Covid, blah blah.

This puts a new spin on things though:

Quote

Last month, Birmingham Dogs Home said its rescue centres were "completely full" as more owners made the decision to give up their pets as a result of the cost of living crisis.

So now we have people giving up their pets because they can't afford to feed and look after them.

Which is really sad to hear to be honest.

Now I don't want to be jumping to conclusions, but I do find it a LITTLE odd that now this dogs home finds itself being overwhelmed with given up or abandoned dogs (and presumably the demand to rehome such poor animals has died off, if more people find themselves unable to afford to keep them), suddenly some 'virus' has appeared which admittedly I've never heard of before, but maybe because I've never had the joy of having a dog as a pet and companion.

Quote

"The health of all the dogs in our care is our top priority," the charity said.

Well, they would say that. 🤔

Lets just speculate for a moment, and consider that if the dogs home is 'closed' due to a virus outbreak, any number of 'residents' could fall ill and die as a result. (It may not have been the 'virus' that killed them, wink wink)

Perhaps this is how the mass culling of pets begins...

No problem, I think you may find that it becomes difficult to find a digital phone that is 'corded' (ie isn't cordless) that's all.

I've not really looked into it myself to be honest, as I've said already I personally prefer not to have a 'landline' phone, and I've certainly not missed it in the last near four years living where I am now.

But I'm sure there'll be someone out there who's come up with a corded digital phone (hopefully!) because I do appreciate concerns that some people may have.

Oops 😂

This is your co-pilot speaking... I'm only a trainee! Virgin jet to New York is forced to turn back to Heathrow after captain is told first officer had not completed his training

The Airbus A330, just 40 minutes into its flight, was ordered to return to Heathrow. Passengers landed in the US almost three hours later than planned while a replacement was found.

In more important news a very sick elite clique of very stupid and it pains me to say white people today murdered millions of people of all races.

They also established BLM, invested heavily in vaccination technology which is murdering and injuring people of all races by the million.

Here's the trick 444444444.  As they target you and youre familiy and just about all and sundry - then as another useless eater to quote Henry Kissenger,   you will go into  the bardot believing that all of the problems of the world are caused by negroes, with a heart filled with hate.

You don't quite get it yet would be my own conclusion.

I suggest that this is exactly what the really sick people want you to think.

Negro? no, scrap that the entire comment shows your apparent issue with people of colour.

Not really... I just feel it's important to say it like it is and not hide behind the faux outrage you seem to be exhibiting. Let's stop getting hysterical shall we? And maybe we might start to undo the damage that wokeness has wrought.

Racism is now woke is it? If I was kneeling before a football match, feel free to call out the virtue signalling, but otherwise a racist comment is a racist comment.

Again... you're just pretending to be angry. Stop pretending to be angry at things you are ultimately not angry at. "Faux outrage" has done far more damage to the fabric of society than outright discrimination ever did.

I am far from outraged, I am saddened that people think like you do.

As Marcus pointed out, BLM was paid for and created by white people, it has nothing to do with black lives or them mattering, it is a tool used to divide people, as is antifa. Wake up my friend, and careful where you say those words not everyone is as tolerant.

I don't want to paint a whole group with a broad brush, but not all Africans are the same, it's a diverse continent. Do some people with lower IQ have less impulse control though, like sub-saharans? That's not racism, it's just a question. Why are some groups so quick to lash out and stab people over minor disputes, or sometimes for no dispute at all?

I'm not talking about African Americans by the way, I understand that they have been getting screwed for years and indoctrinated with asphalt culture by the usual clique that wants black and white folks to tear each other apart.
