"Rupert Murdoch has entered 11th hour settlement talks in a last-ditch effort to avoid taking the stand in a $1.6bn defamation lawsuit.

The billionaire media mogul was expected to be one of the first witnesses called to testify in the high-profile legal battle with Dominion Voting Systems, which centres around false claims about vote-rigging in the 2020 US presidential election aired on Fox News.

The trial was scheduled to begin on Monday but Delaware Superior Court Judge Eric Davis last night announced a one-day delay, with final jury selection and opening arguments pushed back to Tuesday."
