I just heard a nice part of an interview. "Everybody's life is extraordinary ... People are the same everywhere ... Looking at those tiny moments in life ... The people in Hollywood a lot of them live ordinary lives worrying about whether the job will last and if technology will replace them. They work in a factory called Hollywood and everything is about profit of the brand. He sounds philosophical which is always of interest to me. Gabriel Byrne

He mentioned civil war at the end, I think he meant America

They really let pretty much anyone drive a bus, here in the States. I knew a woman...true story...who used to drive a city bus . When I knew here she was just a "medical cannabis" smoker, but in her city bus driving days, she smoked crack. She said she would pull over, not at a bus stop, just to the curb, get out and smoke some crack, then get back in and drive away...several times during her route. Sometimes she'd smoke in the bus if there wasn't many riders on board. The days before cameras in the buses. That was in Oakland, CA. She never got in trouble for it, either. She was fun to smoke "medical cannabis" with...or so I was told.

Two women who tried to pickpocket 10-year-old schoolboy on Tube are jailed

I think it's a sad state of affairs when I guessed these women would be Romanian before I even clicked on that link. (or saw the photo KingKitty had already shared).

For the record, that is a valid observation proven to be correct, so I'm not making any 'racist' remark. 😉

DWP's been a fucking shambles since she replaced whoever-it-was-before. Sure there was a backlog (excuses excuses) but since her installation at the DWP they don't even try to do a thing anymore. Not a semblance of interest or competence.

Oh but Covid.

Yeah, Covid...when they spent billions on texts, phonecalls, letters, billboards, TV ads trying to guilt people into taking kill shots.

Plenty of time to get that organised and done.

In Liz I do not Trust, nor any MP tbh

The results of the Tory party leadership election haven't been announced yet, but once again there are 'suggestions' from the media on who is being 'tipped' for cabinet roles.

I guess this means that even the Prime Minister doesn't get to choose who sits in their cabinet.

Some other "Health Secretaries" from around the world!

To be fair, ministers don't need to be 'experts' at anything, they are just figureheads themselves, that's why its always the same 'familiar faces' that get shuffled round into different roles. The real power lies with the 'experts' - the technocrats - that 'guide and advise' them.

The thing is its not just London. This kind of shit is all over social media, and one has to wonder if it is all being orchestrated or organised somehow.

Not quite at the same level, but still quite unpleasant.

Schoolboys hurl abuse at KFC staff as they chuck cutlery over counter in Bloxwich

Quote

Masked schoolboys hurled vile abuse at KFC staff and chucked cutlery at them during a shocking incident in the Black Country. The youngsters were caught on camera terrorising workers standing behind the counter after they entered the store.

Drinks holders were launched at staff, while plastic cutlery and wooden stirrers were tossed towards their faces. Concerned customers - including children - watched on in shock as trouble flared in front of their eyes.

The incident has since been branded 'absolutely disgusting' by members of the public - with many slamming them for their 'disrespectful' behaviour. It is believed to have taken place in KFC's Bloxwich branch, in Leamore Lane, on Friday (September 3).

Footage - which BlackCountryLive is not using - captured a group of at least five youths donning face masks and with their hoods up causing havoc in the store. One boy is seen picking up a pile of drinks holders before stretching them over his head and tossing them over the counter.

Another then pulls out his phone and points it at staff while a third leans over the till. When one of the boys quizzes a customer on why he is recording them, the youngster swears at him and pulls his T-Shirt over his face.

Are we actually witnessing the end of civilsation as we know it? Or is it more the case that these groups of kids are being 'influenced' by the people they follow on social media tat such as TikTok?

Probably a bit of both.

Civilised respect is being replaced, certainly in the larger towns & cities, with savagery. It's pretty unsettling, and it makes me feel more like becoming a hermit.

It's also where the "culture of entitlement" eventually leads.

As well as the social media 'influencers' I already mentioned, who knows what ideas are being poured into these kids minds by their teachers at school.

As far as school goes my daughter starts to do GCSE's this year. She still hasn't done one essay in three years. There was an option if enough people wanted to do it to learn Italian. My daughter is Italian and speaks etc fluently. It was suggested that because of the difficulty level she should consider a different subject.

I'm not a father, but I have been worrying about my niece going to secondary for a while. Fortunately she's in a good catchment area and she just got into one of the best public schools in the country. It's pretty affluent, and not very diverse, but I don't have to worry so much about her safety now. It's a massive weight off my mind because she doesn't have a father figure in her life to keep an eye on her.
