Government reform on the cards in Australia after revelations that ex-PM gave himself additional powers in secret

It has been revealed that former Australian prime minister Scott Morrison secretly appointed himself head of five ministries during his time in office, in what his successor called an “unprecedented trashing of democracy”.

Between March 2020 and May 2021, Morrison appointed himself to the health, finance, industry, science, energy and resources, home affairs and treasury portfolios, giving him ultimate decision-making powers in these areas. This was done without the public’s knowledge and in some cases without alerting the existing minister, who remained unaware they were sharing the portfolio with the PM. This included then treasurer Josh Frydenberg, who had been one of Morrison’s closest confidants.

Morrison sets out his defence

Morrison released a lengthy statement on Monday in which he described the arrangements “as a ‘break glass in case of emergency’ safeguard” during the coronavirus pandemic. He said in hindsight they were unnecessary and apologised to former ministerial colleagues “for any offence”.

He got found out this time but I wonder if it's not the only example of this.

I can't work out if this story is based on 'fake news' or if some people are just 'denying reality'.

UK city named most dangerous in Europe - with another in second place

Quote

Two British cities have been given the unwanted titles of the most dangerous cities in Europe. Bradford has topped the study conducted by Expatriate Consultancy.

Coventry, in the West Midlands, has been named second. The study analysed the crimes from the last three years, with each city given an index value.

Bradfor's is 71, with the overall crime rate 146 crimes per 1,000 people. The Yorkshire city is also in the top 30 most dangerous cities in the world. In Coventry, there are 102 crimes per 1,000 people last year.

From: https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/midlands-news/uk-city-named-most-dangerous-24809054

I must admit I've never heard of this "Expatriate Consultancy" and I haven't looked into them further, so I don't know how they've gathered this data, or whose interests they represent.

So there's every possibility that this 'study' could be working with 'skewed data' to give a result that is desired by this organisation.

But still, there's a typical "well they would say that" response here:

Quote

Bradford's District Commander, chief superintendent Rob McCoubrey, told the Express :
"West Yorkshire Police do not recognise this data and do not accept how any methodology can provide a credible comparison across continents, countries, and cities.

"Bradford is a safe place to live, work and visit. Like any city where deprivation and poverty exist there are of course challenges. However, we work closely with partner agencies and communities to effectively tackle issues as they emerge. For example, over the last three years knife crime in Bradford has fallen by 19 per cent and residential burglaries by 57 per cent."

I doubt many senior police officers would turn round and say "well yeah the area is a crime-ridden shithole" (how refreshing would that actually be?)

Knowing how infested the police is with Common Purpose, it also doesn't surprise me that a senior officer gives such a carefully crafted response, denying the actual reality in favour of idealistic scripted NLP talk.

Oh, but there's more...

Quote

"It is disappointing that this survey fails to recognise many of the attributes that make Bradford such a fantastic city." He added: "We are rated as 'outstanding' by [Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services] in respect of how we record crimes."

He forgot to mention 'diversity' on this occasion it seems, that presumably is one of the 'attributes' that makes Bradford a 'fantastic city'.

And is being 'rated outstanding' by HM Inspectorate anything to be proud of? Of course the sycophants enjoy their backslapping, and the 'secret handshake' brigade no doubt play a part, as well as Common Purpose.

Quote

"People in Bradford can have confidence that when they report crime it will be properly recorded and acted upon."

I think that's more an opinion rather than fact, to be honest. Maybe someone from Bradford could clarify this?

Reminds me of that old saying of 'time to buy is when there is blood in the streets', but since we now live in a techno marvelous world the saying should be 'time to buy when MSM trashes the place with unfounded lies and deception of death and decay to devalue and disenfranchise the region', yep i think i got the gist of this mockery.

Mystery surrounds death of "fit and healthy" Kidderminster mum who died while on phone to GP

https://i2-prod.birminghammail.co.uk/incoming/article21672725.ece/ALTERNATES/s1176b/2_AB_Bham_20210924_Helena_062.jpg

Mystery surrounds the sudden death of “fit and healthy” Kidderminster mum-of-two Helena Maffei. The 55-year-old had been waiting to speak to her GP for three hours, an inquest was told.

When her GP rang back, Mrs Maffei was having a seizure in front of her 28-year-old son Giuseppe, who called 999 for help. Paramedics arrived but were unable to save her and she was declared dead at her Stourbridge Road home, Worcestershire Coroners’ Court heard.

At 2am on the day of her death, Mrs Maffei collapsed but wouldn’t let her family ring for an ambulance saying she would call a GP in the morning. She tried calling Kidderminster’s Church Street Surgery at 8.30am on September 23 and was waiting in a queue for over 30 minutes when her phone battery died, the family told the court.

She called back and was in a queue for a further 59 minutes before being told a doctor would ring her back within 90 minutes. Just over an hour and a half later, her GP, Dr Khatim Niwa, called - but by then, Mrs Maffei’s condition was already severe.

🤔

Now, I don't want to come across as being too 'judgemental', but from the photos she looks a little 'overweight' to me. Also:

Quote

Worcester -born Mrs Maffei, who ran The Continental Bakery with her husband Tony, was prescribed antidepressant drug Sertraline for panic attacks by Dr Niwa two weeks before the tragedy. The inquest heard how she quickly deteriorated after starting the medication on September 9 and stopped taking them days before her death.

Sertraline belongs to a family of medications called Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors(SSRIs), which increase levels of Serotonin in the brain, responsible for a person’s happiness.

Husband Tony Maffei said: “Helena was never ill, not even a cold. She was fit and healthy, walking every day and working 8am to 8pm in the bakery. She didn’t smoke or drink, wasn’t overweight and her diet was very good.

“After two weeks of taking these tablets she became very weak and fragile and had no strength. The side effects of the tablets were all symptoms Helena had during the last days of her life.”

Mrs Maffei suffered gradually increased weakness, heart palpitations, shortness of breath, confusion, sweating, shivering, vomiting and diarrhoea over a period of two weeks, the court heard.

It would be interesting to learn the reason for her anxiety and panic attacks, which ended up with her being prescribed this medication.

But it doesn't seem that much of a 'mystery' to me, if a perfectly healthy woman starts taking some new medication and then ends up dying just two weeks later.

The article has a load more hand-wringing and wriggling out of blame. The last bit I'll quote is this:

Quote

A post mortem including specialist tests on the brain and heart could not ascertain the cause of death. No evidence was found of a heart attack or epilepsy and pathologist Dr Sarah Littleford ruled there were a couple of possibilities.

Dr Littleford said: “In my opinion, this is a difficult case. Sertraline can be associated with seizures in individuals developing Serotonin Syndrome.” She said the rare syndrome is a recognised adverse drug reaction that typically develops within the first few hours and days of using a drug that affects Serotonin."

Symptoms range from mild to life-threatening and include many displayed by Mrs Maffei, such as a fast and irregular heartbeat and seizures.

Sertraline is also known to speed up or change the rhythm of the heart and increase the risk of sudden death if a person is predisposed to cardiac problems or has Sudden Adult Death Syndrome, or SADS.

Dr Littleford said: “I cannot exclude the possibility that Sertraline caused Serotonin Syndrome and death in this case. Neither can I exclude that Mrs Maffei had SADS, which the Sertraline may or may not have exacerbated.”

NHS GP Khatim Niwa told the court there was "nothing she would have done differently", adding that she’d had a good relationship with Mrs Maffei since 2010. The GP said she’d followed NICE guidelines in prescribing 50mg of Sertraline as the mum had been feeling overwhelmed and unhappy with anxiety.

Basically, they found 'no evidence' and won't admit that this drug ended up killing her, trying to nudge towards this all new "sudden adult death syndrome".

And as for the GP, she may well have 'followed guidelines' but did she make any attempt to get to the root cause of the issue before prescribing this drug?

Its a very tragic story, but sadly no-one will be held accountable for this, it will just remain a 'mystery'...

The new head of the Army has said British troops must prepare “to fight in Europe once again” as the conflict in Ukraine continues.

General Sir Patrick Sanders took over from General Sir Mark Carleton Smith on Monday and wrote to his charges about the challenges they face.

“There is now a burning imperative to forge an Army capable of fighting alongside our allies and defeating Russia in battle,” Sir Patrick said.

“We are the generation that must prepare the Army to fight in Europe once again,” he added.

I would say that they're taking the piss out of us and our kids, but that's an understatement at this point.

Hmmmmm .... what's goin on ere then?  .... Satanic show held at British Church:

That's just reminded me of something...

When I was 18 I was walking home one night towards a church & the windows were flickering like there was a fire inside. As I got close I could see a flame. It was 1 o'clock in the morning in the days before mobile phones. I honestly thought the place was on fire & was going to burn down.

When I got there the windows were quite high, I remember standing on something to see in.

There was some sort of ceremony going on. Handful of people in dark robes & something on fire near the alter.

Watched for a few seconds then I got freaked out & legged it.

My best mate at school's Dad was the Priest or Minister in that church a couple of years earlier. Don't know if he still was. My mate was at Uni by then & when we caught up I never remembered to mention it to him.
