Raymond Briggs has died. Happy memories watching The Sowman when my son was young🙂

Can a mod delete this video because this is not the trailer, it's macabre

Edit Mangaged to delete it myself.

I had many a Happy Christmas watching the Snowman as a kid. They've taken a lot from us since then. It wasn't all roses, Thatcher was PM but I remember feeling so content and happy back then.

Oops. Didn't see that you'd already posted about this TH. You know they want it to happen in January when it's usually getting cold. Most snow and ice in January.

How weird. I had no idea until I saw this clip, and it's just come on the news on the telly, but earlier today, I started singing the tune to myself while I was at work and caught myself doing it and wondered why the snowman had popped into my head on such a hot, sunny day.

That's OK, your post is easier to see the subject without clicking on a link.

Of course, hence they're planning it right now, the bastards!

Lots of layers of clothes, blankets & hot water bottles. I'll finally persuade my son to learn how to play backgammon with no laptops or telly's. 😊

I seriously think with the costs and this dire shit coming, we're going to need to be vigilant with the older & more isolated neighbours who will need looking out for.

Ha, brilliant, every cloud ... the bastards will hate your positivity.

Don't let the bastards grind you down.

I'm glad you shared that TFH, truth is stranger than fiction. These unexplained parts of life, these nuggets of nature and spirit, open up wonderful chains of thought and reinforce my beliefs. There so many connections that we just don't fully understand as yet.

I've always held a respect for Aled Jones, and on a side note I'm genuinely pleased for him that he's still in work, doing something he loves 😀

Really nice tribute by Bob Moran, thanks Golden Retriever.

I only just realised today, via BBC, that Raymond Briggs also wrote When the Wind Blows. I had no idea it was his. Good to know.

This is in a few MSM sources today, so just adding it here so that we can look back on the prediction this weekend and know whether it came to fruition or not...

'Time traveller' from 2090 makes chilling prediction for his weekend but many are sceptical

Kim Windell Necos, a self-proclaimed time traveller, claims a devastating storm will lead to the loss of "many lives" with her predictions in the past labelling her as "the chosen one"

As Grumpy says this is a famous place in greece called Skiathos. This happens all the time and the people love it.

...I take all predictions with a pich of salt, however, I did state that I've seen it in a number of different publications, and am curious as to why, when these types of subjects are not often covered at all. (As in, is there some ulterior motive that isn't yet obvious).

Nothing hinted at on South Carolina weather forecasts.

Regarding the time travellers weather prediction, I realise it's USA, but I have been wondering how bad our weather will get after the heatwave.

I've heard people on the radio mocking the dire warnings, and insisting that this is just summer / hor weather, and to enjoy it.

I spoke to the butcher who told me someone nearly withdrew their order for a BBQ this weekend, incase they started a fire. He told them it's just common sense to have a bucket of water nearby, etc. I genuinely love the attitude of older people, who've always been able to make their own decisions, and to hear their take on all of this nonsense.

This afternoon I heard Ian Collins mention Martin Lewis. He said he often used to have him on his shows, but that now he's gone all doom monger, and that you would think he's been replaced by an actor.

I love hearing this sort of clip. It strikes me as something you would hear when the truth is said right in front of you.

I heard presenters on Times radio praising Raymond Briggs. It was wonderful to hear one of the men describing exactly why he loves the books. At the end the other man said, "it was nice to talk about that instead of.. you know what"

I've heard that before, and I feel sorry for them having to talk about the BS all day, but when you hear them discussing a common bond, and a happy memory, it's a good feeling. One lady described the book, when the wind blows, and said how much it scared her back then. They enjoyed the adult style of writing.

I think that book is very relevant to us here / now.

Kept all his books even after the kids grew up. To nice to give away

Could this be something that gets its start from a weather weapon?  I find all these "time travelers" funny.  They always have some type of disaster to report, then nothing ever comes true.  Then another pops up soon after with a new prediction.

The weather manipulation was something I wondered about also.

(Acknowledging that it might well be pure twaddle 😛) there would need to be a reason for that spot to be selected, but I don't know what that would be. I'm ignorant where Geography is concerned, so had a look what's there...

"South Carolina is a southeastern U.S. state known for its shoreline of subtropical beaches and marshlike sea islands. Coastal Charleston is a historic city, defined by pastel-colored houses, Old South plantations and Fort Sumter, where the Civil War’s opening shots were fired. To the north is the Grand Strand, a roughly 60-mile stretch of beachfront known for golf courses and the vacation town Myrtle Beach." ― Google

It looks like a pretty and affluent place, nothing leaps out regarding its possibly being selected as a target.

Maybe the sort of affluence they need to be rid of. Maybe Trump supporting wealth. Who knows!

There are some thunderstorms forecast for Monday/Tuesday, with the usual MSM "dire warnings" going round now.

After the last 'heatwave' the other week, we had the same warnings. I was actually looking forward to a nice thunderstorm and a good downpour, here in south Birmingham we got nothing more than a few spots of rain.

It's actually quite typical to have a thunderstorm after a period of very warm weather.

The amount of fear-mongering over the weather in the media of late is actually getting quite tiresome now, but I can also see it affecting many people I know.
