I went past tesco's this evening to see a Teco livery CCTV parked outside. Why would a supermarket need a camera van outside? I have never seen this before. Does anyone know about this or seen at your local store?

Sorry i cant correct the photo.

  • Captainlove changed the title to Tesco now have CCTV vans why would a supermarket need one of these?

Tesco have facial recognition cameras now

Same as co-op

It takes your photo and cross references it with it images it has stored before

Then it links it with your shopping habits and with your personal information such as mothers maiden name, credit history etc etc

Then it all gets sent back to China where it is processed by the Chinese Communist Party ( they have a database)

Then the UK companies delete your data and photos after a year.

It's something to be normalised. They're looking to inconvenience disabled drivers while catching rump steak and battery offenders. Maybe.

You see security dressing up as police everywhere these days, even with the thin blue line badge. If the plebs don't ask it's gravy, push the boundaries. Assume the authoritarian tone demand details and see what you can get away with.

Loyalty card on steroids, when it takes a pick of me, it gets the middle finger again, and no i have never engaged with privacy snooping loyalty reward schemes that allows you to purchase a toaster for free after a million years has passed, well discounted anyhoo.

Please be careful as you are on private property, if you are engaged the best thing to do is reject the offer of a contract, as this is what they will do under the current legal system of dead things, e.g corporate maritime law fiction nonsense.

Last time I went there, at the start of the "pandemic", I was helping Mum get some shopping and she felt like a cuppa. So we go into their cafe for a basic cup of tea and a biscuit. They demanded our details so we could be put into the track and trace system. (At this time, very few establishments were enforcing it). For a cup of fucking tea in this place? You're joking. We left. Never went back. Fucking nazis.

Maybe something to do with their new scheme they are setting up...

May be an image of text that says "Customers will need to use their Tesco.com app. If they don't have this already, they will need to download it and create an account before using this store. Customers check in at the store entrance and shop as normal. Cameras and technology in the store will detect which items customers put in their basket to purchase. Customers walk out with their purchases. They will be charged through the Tesco.com app after leaving the store and will receive a receipt on their phone within a few minutes of leaving the store."

This is the same thing Amazon Fresh has started. They simply track every movement of you in the shop via the cctv and charge your phone.

They are all at it. Whole Foods is one place that doesn't pull any of that crap. Bezos owns it and you'd think he'd have cameras everywhere but I haven't seen any. Anyway, the local market opens next week for the summer so I'll be shopping there.

Funny how all these shops had traffic light entrance systems ready to install and roll out.. it would have taken a little while you would think to order and  build these things.

So they were warned well in advance.

This is how they are going to do. Look at Germany. They will give you this... or energy rebate etc.... Oh we'd better bring a digital passport so that you'll have it all in one place. We are doing the best for you. 🙄 Wait till you'll get a Monkey Pox rebate..... if you get it you'll receive £10 a day and see if the number soars. Typical!!

Yeah that gets you to the next province in most EU countries. But not back home.

AT least seems to be some push back on this.

Also don't forget Tesco is also linked into ANPR (advanced number plate recognition) and thus linked to DVLA so all your vehicle details are known along with your driving habits ,this data is merged with their other sources to produce a 'digital identity' of you which can be exploited at will (and for $$$$$$ by being sold )
