How Long Before A Sense Of Humour Is Banned?

Recommended Posts

With all the madness going on right now, the best release possible is to laugh it off for the pure stupidity that it is. Which, also happens to be a great way to keep you sanity in place.

The other day I was thinking, are we now heading to a place where something funny is going to be claimed as 'hate speech'?

I remember in the 70's and 80's how comedians and sitcoms on TV programs were allowed to say anything so long as it was funny. And now, we are almost at the tipping point of the flip side of that coin where you wont be able to say anything without being deemed a hate crime terrorist.

It also brought to mind the scene in 1984 film where they were all wearing grey and too scared to speak or even look at each other in the eye for fear of a connection and a slap from the overlords.

Today I was musing about the trend for grey home/ office interiors and clothing which has been going on for some years now and I am left wondering again....are they training us to accept the greyness of life to come?

Time to break out the Hawaiian shirts in rebellion!

I reckon your onto something here, they seem to have turned all our best comedians into game show hosts & comedians are now limited to what they can joke about, making comedy these days so very unfunny & drab. But who needs comedians when we have these clowns.🥳

We really are heading into an era of everything being a hate speech crime and everything fun being illegal, just like 1984, with a touch of Soylent Green

These entities are so deranged they will try to bring an end to anything that even remotely smacks of freedom and fun.

Already we have seen the banning of travel; banning the simple pleasure of finding a green space to sit in and contemplate; the pleasure of a random chat with a stranger removed with 'social' distancing; psychological breakdowns due to mask mandates; enforced food changes via lockdowns and media promotion etc

There was even a time where they tried to blame covid on animals and stop pet ownership. I wonder when the shock will come to all those politicians who have pushed this crap on humanity? How long before the penny drops for them and they realise they too have been had?

Joe Lycett asked to explain comedy show joke to police

Joe Lycett

Quote

Comedian Joe Lycett has said an audience member complained to police about a joke in one of his shows.

In an Instagram post he wrote: "To be fair to them the fuzz were very nice about it all but felt they had a duty to investigate."

Lycett, 33, who is from Birmingham, said he was asked to explain the context of the joke in a statement and the case was now closed.

He said the joke would remain in his routine.

Mr Lycett added he considered it "one of the best I've ever written" and hoped the police were "charmed and hopefully amused" by his response.

"The tour continues until September, unless I am jailed," he wrote.

From: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-birmingham-61882384

Unfortunately, the BBC fails to share this joke with everyone, probably in case someone else gets offended by it. 🤪

I don't find Joe Lycett that funny myself, so the joke was probably crap anyway.

But in all seriousness, who pays money to go to a comedy show, and then complains to the police because they didn't like one of the jokes?

To save anyone going to Instagram, here's what he posted (in full):

Quote

So someone came to my tour show a few weeks back and was offended by one of the jokes. And their perfectly understandable response to this was… to call the fucking police.

To be fair to them the fuzz were very nice about it all but felt they had a duty to investigate. This involved me writing a statement explaining the context of the joke for them; I particularly enjoyed putting the words ‘giant donkey dick’ into a message to a police detective.

Charmed, and hopefully amused, the rozzers have since closed the matter. You’ll be pleased to know that the joke - which I consider to be one of the best I’ve ever written - remains firmly and proudly in the show.

The tour continues until September, unless I am jailed.

I bet the person who reported this joke to the police is also someone who complains when the police don't attend to 'real crimes' such as burglaries etc.

You can trace back wokeness and all it entails to the day we gave women the vote...

The moment you give women the vote is the moment you set into motion a chain of events that leads to the complete breakdown of society.

When I first read the above statement, I, like many cucks thought it misogynistic nonsense; but seeing the west as it is today I've come to understand it.

Many women who hear that will of course be quick to take offense, but it's not so much an attack on women, as it is an attack on feminism and all its offshoots. We are of course referring to wokeness, political correctness, and outrage culture, all of which are products of feminism and the emotional female mind.

But when we talk of male and female, we don't just refer to men and women, but the primordial forces that form the cosmos. Taoists call these forces Yin and Yang. Yang represents strength and logic, Yin represents softness and sensitivity. So it's not so much women we're targeting here, but unchecked feminine energy, which men are just as influenced by. The West as it is today, is a result of unchecked feminine energy, or, unchecked feminism.

Feminism is the seed that began the decline. It was the original Social Justice cause. Because in order to remain relevant once women were able to enjoy the same freedoms as men, feminism began spreading from one cause to the next, seeking to defend every discriminated group from feminism's greatest enemy—the white male. This first began with other racial groups, then to homosexuals, then to transgenders, then to immigrants, and so on, and when no underdogs are left to defend, feminists will simply invent one in order to stay relevant. Enter the non-binary genders, transgender kids and so on.

Violent anarchist groups like Antifa and BLM are extensions of feminism. They are movements born out of feelings before logic. They are movements born of the female mind. The radical left hysteria that's caused so much death and destruction over recent years, is an offshoot of feminism and the Yin polarity. Wokeness, progressivism, cancel culture, all born of the feminine's emotions-before-logic view of the world.

Apply these gender differences to national governance and you can see why migrant Mohammed's sob story, is all it took for Angela Merkel to abolish borders, condemning indigenous Europeans to minority status by 2060. All it took was one female politician to not see beyond her own feelings. Where men see a potential threat, women see an opportunity to express their nurturing / motherly instincts.

So when we say, "the moment you give women the vote is the moment your country starts to fall" - what it really means is that your country falls once you put feelings before logic, which the West has been doing now since at least the 60s.

It's true that women being childbearers fulfill the most important and sacred role of all, but in reality, man's capacity for logic, wisdom, philosophy, science, technology and forsightedness, exceeds that of the female. That men are the greater sex; that they are stronger, smarter, more creative, competent, and rational than women, is the final red pill many need to swallow. When you truly and fully internalise the fact that women are fundamentally infantile (regardless of what words come out of their mouth), then the current state of the Western world will make a lot more sense, and also your relationships with all the women in your life will improve, and they will be more attracted to you.

What does any of that have to do with a sense of humour being banned?

'Logic' is a kind of bullshit we use to excuse ourselves or our behaviour, it's pure programming. Instead, we can learn to think for ourselves and not use the brain farts of others as our proof that we are right to believe such.

We are not the labels pasted on to us. Men, women, black white - all labels, and, for one purpose- separation of humans into smaller and smaller boxes. If you choose to believe that nonsense then you have a long journey ahead in spiritual terms.

Your post seems to be put here just to be antagonistic. Either way, it does not belong on this thread.

OK, but the 'humour will be banned' topic has not much to do with feminism per se. All these things are there to separate us from each other, buying into that concept achieves that nicely as does relying on logic to solve everything.

If people want to chat about feminism then it should go on its own thread.

Everything. The fact that comedians need to watch what they joke about for fear of being cancelled is a result of wokeness / political correctness, which is itself an extension of feminism and the feminine impulse to put feelings before logic.

Repeat:

The moment you give women the vote is the moment you set into motion a chain of events that leads to the complete breakdown of society. The idea that women should be immune to any kind of criticism for being women (which men are criticised for all the time) is at the core of wokeness and all its destructive machinations.

aren't you describing toxic femininity rather than femininity in general?

I think the idea that a healthy minded woman can't make correct choices is wrong.

I do think though that feminism has driven men out of the equation in many ways whether it is through driving men out of the family or out of societal discourse and i think that such a vacuum can then be filled by more toxic femininity

You're right. Feminism in and of itself is not bad, but it must be kept in check by the strength, logic and orderliness of the masculine. The polarities needs to be kept in balance as Taoists have taught for 1000s of years.

The problem then is not so much women, but the absense of masculinity in the West that cannot keep the feminine in check. In short, men need to get strong again, and embrace the classically masculine virtues that would have laughed off the soy-drinking weaklings a large majority of men today have become.

Lifting weights, (getting fit in general) and learning to fight are good starting points. As well as freeing oneself from the mental straitjacket that is political correctness.

You can just be living your life doing nothing, and be banned as someone believed something about you.

Its a joke this world, and the amount of people that destroy others by projecting into others, there own rubbish is messed up.

More so today as 1st world is flooded by people who come from mob rule areas of the world, where they had no civilised idea of how to live.

Waste of time living if your different, and i can see why males and females who had no interest in normal things others did, years ago just went and lived there whole life in a monastery or convent, or something.

Sick world, and will only get worse.

The internet has given a central way for bullying and organised bullying to be very big.

Edinburgh Fringe: Jerry Sadowitz show cancelled by venue bosses

Jerry Sadowitz

Quote

An Edinburgh Festival show by controversial comedian Jerry Sadowitz has been cancelled by venue bosses.

The comic and magician had been due to play two nights at The Pleasance at Edinburgh International Conference Centre on Friday and Saturday.

The Pleasance said the second night would not go ahead as his material "does not align with our values".

Sadowitz, 61, an American-born Scot, is known for aggressive stand-up performances.

He said on Twitter: "Did a show last night, 75 mins, thought it went well. Didn't see any walkouts.

"Today I'm told my show's been cancelled. Great stuff. I'm truly sorry for everyone who travelled to see the show tonight."

From: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-edinburgh-east-fife-62533592

I haven't seen any of this guys stuff for years. I remember he used to have a show for a bit on either Channel 4 or BBC2, can't really remember any of his material but it probably was a bit 'gritty'.

So what brought this on then?

Quote

It is understood complaints had been received from some audience members who attended Friday night's performance.

The Pleasance declined to give detail about what aspects of Sadowitz's material led to the cancellation.

Its director, Anthony Alderson, added: "The Pleasance is a venue that champions freedom of speech and we do not censor comedians' material.

"While we acknowledge that Jerry Sadowitz has often been controversial, the material presented at his first show is not acceptable and does not align with our values.

"This type of material has no place on the festival and the Pleasance will not be presenting his second and final show"

What a bunch of hypocrites.

"We do not censor comedians' material" then in the next breath they are cancelling comedians' shows, because a couple of snowflakes got upset.

The venue is no "champion of free speech" if it is deciding what its audience can and cannot see.

I thought free speech was already banned. If not its ultra close to being so. Odds posted this on another topic.

When the covenanters were being persecuted in central scotland and couldn't hold sermons in churches they would just hold secret outdoor 'coventicles'

IMO that is what cancelled people should do: move to an outside venue. Sadowitz should at the last minute announce to his audience that he is going to do his performance in an open air location like hollyrood park.

of course the covenanters were rounded up and imprisoned in greyfriars kirkyard where some died in the overcrowded conditions and the site is said to be haunted by a poltergeist to this day that scratches some unfortunate souls who walk through the graveyard.....so there's always that risk...
