Best Movies Ever- Whats Your Favorite ?

At this time of year, there is one film that I NEVER get tired of watching.

"Trading Places" (1983), produced by Aaron Russo, directed by John Landis, and starring Eddie Murphy, Dan Ackroyd and Jamie Lee Curtis.

It tells a very interesting story about social engineering, and how millionaires have the power to change peoples' lives in a moment.

It's brilliantly written, and very humourous, with some 'killer' standout lines, not really one for the snowflakes!

Sadly for some reason, it apparently doesn't get shown on the mainstream terrestrial UK channels anymore.

Though the story straddles the Christmas period, it sort of culminates into the New Year, which is why I don't really consider it as a "Christmas" movie, but for me the timing works enough to make it worthy of a great film to watch on New Years Eve, before all the fireworks and shenanigans start.

I saw this years ago and loved it. I think I'll give it a watch later. His last thought was about his wife who he was too proud to tell her he loved her. I take it I'll be crying buckets later😭

It's a good example of Logos. Leonidas shares similarities with Christ in the sense that he resists temptation, and sacrifices himself for the greater good. The hunchback that betrays him for material gain is like Judas.

There was a good video from Owen Benjamin on it, but it seems like it was memoryholed because I can't find it these days.

I'll watch it later. Too many kids and kids friends in last night to get any peace. Mad house😆 I did notice near the start of the movie when the 300 was on horseback their shadows in the burning sun looked exactly like dragons. Old mythology is full of dragon symbolism. Do you think the dragon could be a symbol of our past and the elites have stolen this symbol from us? The dragon breathes fire, like the sun. Is our true history of when men battled for true justice in this world hidden in a sea of mythology? Are we the dragons?

I don't think it's just us, but it's an interesting observation. Plenty of cultures are related to dragon symbolism. Obviously China, the Scythians, ancient Britons, e.t.c

not a movie but the australian dark comedy 'mr inbetween' has some conspiracy theory stuff in it. The main character is a morally ambiguous hitman but his best friend is a conspiracy theorist. One of the best tv series imo

Instantly catapulted into my top 10 when i first saw it.

Low budget, very understated, and intentionally hard to follow. The writer/director ended up playing the lead role himself because the actors he got were too 'Hollywood'. I.e. he wanted realism not overwrought acting.

The end result is an intelligent, intriguing masterpiece that leaves one wondering just how it all works, and therefore something that if you enjoy you will more than likely want to watch again at least once.

I just watched 300. The scene I was talking about with the men on horseback and the dragon symbolism is not in 300. The Spartans didn't have horses. I have no idea WTF they were all watching😂

dragons are ENERGY: leyline energy. The pen-dragon, head of the dragon, is the leader that controls the leylines or in mythological terms: the source of the energy

Leonidas had strength, courage, honour and truth. He stood for justice and refused to bow down to a man who wanted to turn his people into slaves. No wonder he had loyal followers. He saw these men as his brothers. He died so that Sparta could live. The temptation in that pleasure palace with the hunchback looked like a total aidsfest🤮
