UK Census is it mandatory to fill it up ?

In Scotland , England and Wales is it mandatory a legal requirement to fill up the Census? They say you will be fined up to £1000 if you don't fill it up , is it just scare tactics?

The census took place last year.

If you didn't complete it, and you haven't been fined £1000, then you can answer your own question.

Bunch of guys I know didn't and said they never do and said they didn't get any fine.

 

I still completed it last year to avoid the headache of risking the fine.

I had a guy come round wanting me to fill it out, I sent him on his way. I have not been fined........... I am a nomad currently, so no idea where they would even send a fine should they want to.......

I sent mine back once with the giant words, "go fuck yourself" written on it. Never heard a single thing about it since.

As the addressee is not named there is no obligation to open.

can i point out a semantic , but important thing, we create a census document

 

filling it in or completing it could make one think of oneself as a subject or employee or servant performing a task for a boss

 

i am my own boss and any demand for performance upon me (in the absence of a pre-existing contract) requires recompense , slavery is outlawed

 

and yet most people perform for free. people perform for the state. those who wash out the recycling bottles and cans demand recompense for work .

I never filled out the ones sent to me .... had a few visits from masked up people .... eventually told them what I felt about it .... the reply was "So we can put you down as a hard refusal then?"

 

I said .... "You literally just ignored all I said and no you can't do that .... now I have shit to do so Goodbye!"

 

They left and I never heard anything again!

A bit off-topic, maybe ... In July 2021 the Electoral Office sent me out a letter asking me to register for them to conduct a Canvass, and by law I needed to register with them if I wanted to vote and that it could also affect my credit rating if I didn't. But of course I didn't bother. Then on September 2021 they sent me out another letter asking me to register again, and again I ignored it. Then on October 2021 they sent me out a letter thanking me for responding to their 'Canvass 2021' and for updating my details !!

 

I didn't think too much off it until December 2021 when I decided to phone them up about it. I put them on speaker phone and recorded the phone call. I told them that I didn't send any letter or update anything with them. The lady said that someone updated my details online with them, I again said I didn't do it, then she said maybe someone else in my household did, but I asked and they didn't. They wouldn't even know how. So she asked me for my details to see if they matched up. I have a burner phone number for these sorts of things, and it was only newish around that time so I didn't use it except for Amazon and YouTube, but when I gave it to her she lied and said that that matches up. I knew this to be a lie because I also had a text message from the bastards a couple of months prior also thanking me for updating my details and it was sent to my private phone number that I use for friends and family !! So I knew right there and then this was dodge. I also don't give out my private email address, but I did give that to her over the phone (more about that in a bit). I kept prodding saying I didn't update anything and it seems that my details with them were falsely obtained and that I would like them to be removed, but she kept insisting that because they are my correct details there was nothing they could do about it. She said she'd pass on the details to her manager, but I haven't heard back from them since.

 

About a week after I gave my email address to them my VPN provider (who also scan your details to see if they fall into the wrong hands online) contacted me saying that my email address was found on their 'Dark Web' scan and was probably misused on Gravatar !

 

I don't know what to make of it, probably a bit to do with electoral fraud and a bit of gang stalking.

 

I of course got a couple of new burner numbers and email addresses and will never give any of my proper details over to these governmental agencies.

had about 8 people turn up last night, wearing high vis jackets with what i think was census written on the back, they wandered up and down to road for about 3 hours from 9pm to 11pm. 

 

strange thing is they where carrying clipboards and other items but didn't seem to knock on peoples doors just walked up and down.  even odder the phone and internet seem to have gone off at around the same time, it could just be a coincidence though.

Electoral Register - got one of these again, but this time some of the info is wrong. Dunno how they can get basic info suddenly incorrect, seems fishy to me?

 

If they've got all my family's details on file for everything, and we've been on the register for ages, why is some of it now wrong? 

 

There's an online link and code and all that bollocks included if the info needs to be changed, so I'm wondering...have they ballsed it up deliberately so people have to go and visit their site and enter codes?

 

Think I'd rather use the phone number they provide, but the wrong info isn't mine and I don't fancy putting my mum (with dementia) through any security questions on the phone just for this. All seems odd.
