Indigo
Ukrainian shelling kills civilians in Donetsk – authorities The strike also wounded two women and a ten-year-old boy, the territorial defense HQ said Kiev’s forces have shelled the city of Donetsk, killing at least three people and wounding five civilians, local authorities said on Friday. The Ukrainian military fired ten rockets from a Soviet-made Grad launcher, according to officials. The shelling targeted the Kiev district in the north of the city, the territorial defense HQ of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) reported on Telegram. Meanwhile, the DPR representative office in the Joint Center on Control and Coordination (JCCC), which monitors “Ukrainian war crimes,” said the strike killed one elderly man and one woman. Details on the third victim are still unknown. It added that the wounded included two women and a ten-year-old boy. The office also noted that the shelling had hit at least five residential blocks. Later in the day, it reported that Ukrainian forces had fired ten missiles from BM-21 Grad launchers. https://t.me/TRO_DPR/10109 Footage from the scene published on social media shows several blurred dead bodies lying on the ground, as well as heavily-damaged indoor premises. This fresh attack comes just a day after another shelling of the city by Kiev's forces killed an emergency service worker and injured two more people, according to city mayor Alexey Kulemzin. The strike, in which 12 missiles were fired, damaged the city administration’s building, he added. Donetsk has been subjected to artillery and missile attacks by the Ukrainian forces on an almost daily basis since Russia launched its military operation in late February. That’s after years of sporadic shelling of the city since 2014, when the DPR, along with the Lugansk People’s Republic, broke away from Ukraine after Viktor Yanukovich, who had been democratically elected president, was ousted in a coup. Last fall, both republics, along with Kherson and Zaporozhye Regions, overwhelmingly voted to join Russia in public referendums. https://www.rt.com/russia/567557-ukraine-shelling-civilians-dead-donetsk/ Ukainian Shelling Pounds Donetsk (filmed just now!!) Indigo
Demining Donbass | Sappers risk their lives clearing Donbass from Ukrainian mines https://rumble.com/v1ojq9b-demining-donbass-rt-documentary.html Despite being banned under the UN Ottawa Treaty since 1997, thousands of anti-personnel mines litter the parks, streets, schools and homes in Donbass. Residents risk severe injuries and even death if they happen to accidentally stumble upon the tiny ‘petal’ mines. A ‘petal’ mine is a pressure-activated anti-personnel mine. It’s small and hard to see, making it the ‘vilest’ mine. Ukraine was reported to have disposed of some six million of these petal mines it had in service. But that is clearly not the case as it has been using them to bombard residential areas of Donetsk, Lugansk and other cities of Donbass for months. Dozens of civilians who accidentally came into contact with the landmines have been admitted to hospitals in Donbass. Emergency services, sappers and humanitarian personnel have been working hard to clear the neighbourhoods of the insidious explosive devices, while the Ukrainian army continues to bombard cities with the mines. Brave civilians help sappers to spot mines, some of them even learn de-mining techniques themself. It will take years to remove all of the mines, according to some experts. The Ukrainian army uses Uragan multiple launch rocket systems, which are able to throw more than 4,000 mines at a time. The documentary takes a look at the arduous mission of the de-mining campaign in Donbass. Victims of ‘petal’ mines talk about the injuries they received, while sappers describe their work on the ground and underwater. Indigo
UK admits it sent troops to Ukraine The Royal Marines took part in “discreet operations” several months into the conflict, a senior general stated British Royal Marines conducted high-risk operations in Ukraine in April, Lieutenant General Robert Magowan wrote in the force’s official journal. Before Magowan’s admission, Russia’s claims that NATO troops were active in Ukraine had been dismissed by Western analysts and media. Members of 45 Commando Group of the Royal Marines left Ukraine in January after evacuating the British embassy in Kiev to Poland. However, some 300 members of the elite unit were sent back into the country in April to reestablish the British mission in Kiev, before going on to conduct “other discreet operations,” Magowan wrote in the force’s magazine, according to a report by The Times on Tuesday. These operations took place “in a hugely sensitive environment and with a high level of political and military risk,” Magowan, who formerly served as commandant general of the Royal Marines and is now deputy chief of Defense Staff at the Ministry of Defense, stated. While Magowan did not elaborate on what kind of missions the commandos carried out, his statement marks the first time that the UK has admitted its troops conducted special operations in Ukraine. The Ministry of Defense refused to confirm earlier accounts of British special forces training Ukrainian troops in Kiev in April. Russian President Vladimir Putin has described the conflict in Ukraine as one between Russia and the “entire Western military machine,” and claimed in September that there are entire military units in Ukraine "under the de-facto command of Western advisers.” Putin’s words were rejected by Western media outlets. "There is no evidence of NATO ground forces participating in Ukraine," Edward Arnold of the Royal United Services Institute think tank told the BBC at the time. "Nor of NATO commanders directing Ukrainian units on the battlefield. There is also a very low likelihood of this happening in the future as Nato seeks to mitigate escalation risks." Magowan’s admission proves Arnold incorrect, but the UK is not the only NATO country to acknowledge the presence of its forces in Ukraine. An unnamed Pentagon official told reporters in October that an unspecified number of US troops were inspecting American arms shipments somewhere within Ukraine. https://www.rt.com/russia/568189-uk-troops-ukraine-operations/

Indigo
Ukraine hits Donetsk with worst shelling in eight years – mayor A barrage of 40 Ukrainian rockets hit homes, shops and a cathedral in the frontline city’s center, causing severe damage The city of Donetsk has been subjected to the largest-scale Ukrainian artillery attack since the region rebelled against Kiev in the wake of the 2014 armed coup in Kiev, local officials have said. A cathedral was among the buildings hit by Kiev’s artillery. Ukrainian troops fired 40 rockets from Grad multiple rocket launchers at several neighborhoods of central Donetsk at around 7 a.m. local time (4 a.m. GMT), Mayor Aleksey Kulemzin said on social media. Several conventional shells also hit the city both before and after the barrage, he added. Official images following the strikes show damaged buildings and cars amid widespread destruction. The central dome of a cathedral has been hit, according to photos published on social media. At least one projectile landed near a school, while others struck homes, shops and a children’s playground, according to the mayor. Kulemzin said at least six people were hurt during the shelling. Some were reportedly trapped under rubble, with emergency crews working to get them out, TASS news agency reported, citing the city rescue service. On Wednesday, a watchdog recording attacks by Ukrainian troops on targets in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics estimated that over 4,500 civilians had been killed in the two regions since mid-February, when Kiev intensified its strikes, before the Russian military intervention later that month. READ MORE: Watchdog estimates civilian death toll from Ukrainian attacks on Donbass In late February, Moscow recognized the two breakaway regions as sovereign states, citing Kiev’s unwillingness to implement a peace plan that would have allowed reconciliation with Donetsk and Lugansk. When Kiev refused to pull back troops, Russia sent its troops into Ukraine. Moscow has since incorporated both provinces into its territory, after people living there voted in referendums for a transition. Kiev rejected the vote as a “sham” and pledged to continue hostilities against Russia. https://www.rt.com/russia/568270-donetsk-worst-strike-ukraine/ Donetsk on fire again, Ukrainian rockets on cathedral and several homes
