Issue with yahoo email

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm a new member here, and one reason I got delayed was because I couldn't receive any messages to my yahoo email address including the account verification email. I also tried sending a message via the website message system but got no reply (I checked my spam too of course).

Eventually I had to set up a new email account with another provider, which worked first time. A bit inconvenient though, having a separate email just for this forum!

Is this a known issue, or is it just me? It's left me wondering if it's a technical issue, or if yahoo have blocked emails from this site?

It's funny that you mention this because my account on the old forum was linked with my Yahoo email address. I tried transferring my old username over to this new forum back at the beginning of 2019 and I never received the verification email. So, in the end, I just created a new username and used a different email address. I remember at the time we were moving over that other members were also saying that they hadn't received the verification email and, being a conspiracy forum, there was inevitable talk about whether some of us were being covertly prevented from signing up. Maybe there was an issue with Yahoo all along.

Most email providers have some kind of 'spam filters' in place, in order to 'protect' users from receiving 'harmful' or malicious emails.

Unfortunately this does mean that some genuine emails can trigger off anti-spam protection, while other 'actual spam' does still often find a way through.

I don't know for certain, but it wouldn't surprise me if some 'free' email providers, like Gmail (Google), Yahoo etc, are actively 'blacklisting' some domains (such as davidicke.com) and preventing emails from those domain name addresses from even reaching your Spam or Junk folder.

It doesn't cost a great deal to buy your own domain name, and even a cheap basic hosting package will allow you to set up email accounts, many will also offer some basic form of spam protection, but the key is to be very selective about who you provide that email address to, as it doesn't take much for it to end up on some mailing list database which results in you being bombarded with spam and junk mail from everywhere.

"Free" email addresses do sometimes cost you some liberty.
