Yet Another Study Links Lower Sperm Count with Pesticides

November 18, 2023

Evidence that pesticides are impacting sperm concentration continues to pile up as the world moves closer to an underpopulation crisis.

A new review of existing studies on insecticides has found “sufficient evidence” that exposure to high levels of insecticides is associated with lower sperm concentration in men. The review focused on organophosphate (OP) and N-methyl carbamate (NMC) insecticides. The researchers said their systematic review and meta-analysis are the most comprehensive on this topic to date.

The paper, “Adult Organophosphate and Carbamate Insecticide Exposure and Sperm Concentration: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of the Epidemiological Evidence,” was published in the journal Environmental Health Perspectives. It sought to answer the question, “What is the association between adult exposure to OP and NMC insecticides and sperm concentration?”

The researchers concluded that “the strength of evidence of an association between higher adult OP and NMC insecticide exposure and lower sperm concentration is sufficient enough to warrant concern, particularly in light of observed downward trends in semen quality.”

Although the paper acknowledges numerous factors that impact sperm concentration, such as age, nutrition, and lifestyle, they also point the finger at “reproductive toxicants in the environment,” particularly endocrine-disrupting chemicals.

“Reproductive toxicants are ubiquitous in the environment, and usually go unnoticed until unintended adverse effects are observed,” they write.Pesticides are a prime example in that pesticides have known endocrine disrupting and reproductive effects but continue to be manufactured and widely applied, resulting in occupational and environmental exposures.”

Regarding occupational exposures, the review noted that workers exposed to toxins in the course of their job “generally experience higher exposures than the general population.” However, they also noted that because of widespread exposure to the chemicals in the environment, even a small magnitude of effect could have consequential impacts on sperm concentration at a population level.”

The review also found evidence that organophosphate insecticides may present a greater risk to sperm concentration” than NMC insecticides.

Several times throughout the paper, the researchers call for actions to be taken to reduce exposure to these potentially harmful chemicals and “prevent continued male reproductive harm.”

Bayer’s Monsanto Hit With $1.5 Billion Verdict in Latest Roundup Cancer Case

November 19, 2023

In a landmark decision, a Missouri jury has ordered Bayer AG’s Monsanto unit to pay more than $1.5 billion in damages to three former users of its Roundup weedkiller. This ruling, one of Monsanto’s largest trial losses in the five-year litigation over the herbicide, raises new questions about the safety of the controversial product and the company’s future legal challenges.

In a late Friday decision, jurors awarded James Draeger, Valorie Gunther, and Dan Anderson $61.1 million in actual damages and a staggering $500 million each in punitive damages. They claimed that years of using Roundup on their properties led to their non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas. This verdict is one of the largest against a US corporate defendant this year, eclipsing even a significant $1.78 billion verdict in a federal real estate case (which could balloon to more than $5 billion), Bloomberg reports.

Bayer officials said on Saturday that US judges have allowed what they see as mischaracterization of regulatory decisions on Roundup’s safety. Despite recent plaintiff victories, the company says it remains confident in overturning these verdicts, citing ongoing regulatory support for glyphosate, Roundup’s main ingredient. Bayer plans to phase out glyphosate in the US consumer market by year’s end.

Bayer also noted in the statement the US Environmental Protection Agency continues to find Roundup and its main ingredient, glyphosate, as safe and a federal appeals court recently backed a rejection of calls for Bayer to include safety warnings on the product’s distinctive white bottles. The company agreed to transition from the version of Roundup containing glyphosate to new active weed-killing ingredients in the US consumer market by the end of the year. -Bloomberg

The punitive award in the Missouri case may be subject to reduction, as US Supreme Court rulings generally limit such awards to ten times the actual damages. However, Monsanto has previously seen substantial damage awards in similar cases, including a $2 billion verdict in California, later reduced to $87 million.

The Burden of Legacy Litigations

Bayer, which acquired Monsanto in 2018, has allocated up to $16 billion for over 100,000 Roundup cases. The company’s legal challenges extend beyond Roundup, encompassing other Monsanto products like toxic PCBs. With more trials on the horizon in Arkansas and Delaware, Bayer’s legal landscape appears increasingly precarious.

Human sperm concentrations have fallen by 50% over past 50 years, pesticides partially to blame

New research out of Virginia has found that commercial pesticides used in gardens, on lawns and elsewhere in and around people's homes are drastically reducing men's sperm counts.

Melissa Perry, dean of the College of Public Health at George Mason University (GMU) in Fairfax found that over the past 50 years, use of these chemicals at home has contributed to an astounding 50 percent reduction in sperm concentrations.

"Over the course of 50 years, sperm concentration has fallen about 50% around the world," Perry noted. "What is not known is the culprit."

"While there are likely many more contributing causes, our study demonstrates a strong association between two common insecticides – organophosphates and N-methyl carbamates – and the decline of sperm concentration."

Long-Term Use Of Statins Linked To Heart Disease: Studies

Sunday, Dec 17, 2023 - 05:20 AM

Authored by Vance Voetberg via The Epoch Times (emphasis ours),

For decades, statins have been heralded as the reliable heroes in the battle against heart disease, the leading cause of death in the United States and globally. However, this seemingly flawless reputation has been called into question.

A new expert review suggests that long-term use of statins may be inadvertently aiding the enemy by accelerating coronary artery calcification instead of providing protection.

Statins Deplete Heart-Protecting Nutrients

The review, published in Clinical Pharmacology, suggests statins may act as “mitochondrial toxins,” impairing muscle function in the heart and blood vessels by depleting coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), an antioxidant cells use for growth and maintenance. Multiple studies show statins inhibit CoQ10 synthesis, leading many patients to supplement.

CoQ10 is vital for producing ATP, the cell’s fundamental energy carrier. Insufficient CoQ10 inhibits ATP production, resulting in an energy deficit that the review authors say “could be a major cause for heart muscle and coronary artery damage.

We believe that many years of statin drug therapy result in the gradual accumulation of mitochondrial DNA damage,” according to the authors.

A 2022 study published in Biophysical Journal linked reduced ATP to heart failure.

A 2008 study published in BioFactors reaffirms the statin–CoQ10 link. Researchers evaluated 50 statin patients for side effects like fatigue and muscle pain. All then stopped statins and supplemented CoQ10 for 22 months on average.

Applesauce Pouches May Have Been Intentionally Contaminated With Lead: FDA

Tuesday, Dec 19, 2023 - 04:00 AM

Authored by Lorenz Duchamps via The Epoch Times (emphasis ours),

U.S. health officials are investigating whether three brands of recalled cinnamon apple puree and applesauce that left dozens of American children sickened may have been intentionally contaminated with lead.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) first reported adverse events in children as young as 1 year old in October. The agency has since launched an inspection at a plant in Ecuador that produced the cinnamon-flavored applesauce products.Jim Jones, the FDA's deputy commissioner for Human Foods, told Politico in an interview published on Dec. 14 that although the investigation is still ongoing, investigators believe the adulteration may have been "an intentional act.""We're still in the midst of our investigation. But so far all of the signals we're getting lead to an intentional act on the part of someone in the supply chain and we're trying to sort of figure that out," Mr. Jones said."My instinct is they didn't think this product was going to end up in a country with a robust regulatory process," he added. "They thought it was going to end up in places that did not have the ability to detect something like this."The affected products were marketed to parents and children under the brands WanaBana apple cinnamon fruit puree and Schnucks- and Weis-branded cinnamon applesauce pouches. They were sold nationwide by grocery chains such as Dollar Tree, as well as online retailers such as Amazon. In its latest update on the lead poisoning outbreak, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said it has identified a total of 125 cases from 22 states across the nation.

‘Unlabeled and Unregulated’: Synthetic Milk Protein with 92 Unknown Compounds Used by More Than a Dozen Food Brands

Testing by the Health Research Institute found 92 unknown compounds in Bored Cow’s synthetic milk — produced from a “form of genetic engineering” — in addition to significant nutrient deficiencies. Over a dozen companies use similar formulations in products like cream cheese, smoothies and ice cream.

By Suzanne Burdick, Ph.D.

Recent testing revealed 92 unknown molecules — and a fungicide — in “synthetic” milk now sold in common grocery chains, according to the Health Research Institute (HRI).

The product, sold by Bored Cow, uses a fake whey protein called “ProFerm” made by biotech company and partner Perfect Day. Perfect Day uses genetically modified “microflora” to produce the synthetic milk protein.

According to Bored Cow, their product is a new kind of “animal-free” milk alternative “made with real milk protein from fermentation.”

HRI, a nonprofit independent lab based in Fairfield, Iowa, examined multiple samples of Bored Cow’s “original” flavor milk using mass spectrometry to test the claim that the synthetic protein it contained was the same as real milk protein.

Synthetic milk has never before been consumed by humans and has not undergone safety testing by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), according to HRI’s Chief Scientist and CEO John Fagan, Ph.D.

The testing results have yet to be published, but Fagan shared a few highlights with The Defender, including that the synthetic milk lacked many important micronutrients found in natural milk such as an omega-3 fatty acid, vitamin E and some B vitamins.

It also contained a host of compounds that could be harmful to human health, Fagan said.

This news comes as Italy last month banned the sale of synthetically-produced meat, making it the first country to ban synthetic food, according to the Organic Consumers Association.

Fagan — a molecular biologist and former cancer researcher at the National Institutes of Health — has been a worldwide pioneer in testing genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

Commenting on his lab’s findings, he told The Defender, “The 92 unknown molecules we found have never been studied by scientists. So we don’t know whether they’re safe or dangerous, whether they are nutrients or toxics.”

Only eight compounds were identifiable. The rest were “uncharacterized” by scientific literature. Fagain explained:

“In any natural material, you’re going to probably find a majority of compounds that science has not studied.

“Human beings have this arrogant idea that they know everything, but in fact, we know just a little fragment of what there is to know about the living world …

“[For example, a sample of] wheat will have many compounds that are unknown to science. But the difference is that you and I — our ancestors going back 4,000 years — have been eating wheat. And so we know from traditional use that whatever’s in wheat, it’s safe for us to eat.

“We can’t say that about the synbio milk. It’s what is called, in Europe and in Canada, a ‘novel food.’”

Such countries require that novel foods be tested for safety before they’re put on the market, he added, but not the U.S.

Fagan said he found it concerning that the Bored Cow samples contained a pesticide — a fungicide called Benthiavalicarb-isopropyl.

“I think the reason this fungicide is present is because they added it to the fermentation process to inhibit the growth of fungi that could contaminate the production system,” he said, “So the things that we see here are not really good for us, let me put it that way.”

HRI compared these results to samples of natural milk from grass-fed cows.

Alzheimer’s passed to patients from corpses

Five people treated with tainted human growth hormone found to have developed symptoms of the disease despite being aged just 38 to 55

Sarah Knapton, Science Editor 29 January 2024 • 4:04pm

Alzheimer’s disease was passed to patients given hormones extracted from corpses, scientists have shown for the first time.

Five people are believed to have developed Alzheimer’s after they were treated with a human growth hormone that inadvertently contained the seeds of dementia.

The tainted hormone was given to more than 1,800 children of short stature in the UK between 1959 and 1995 before being withdrawn when it was shown to trigger Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD).

Now, scientists at University College London (UCL) have found that the same batch responsible for cases of CJD also appears to have triggered Alzheimer’s in some patients. The youngest developed dementia symptoms at just 38 years old.

Professor John Collinge, director of the UCL Institute of Prion Diseases and a consultant neurologist, lead author of the research, said: “We are not suggesting for a moment you can catch Alzheimer’s disease. You can’t catch it by being a carer or living with a husband or wife with the disease.

“The patients we have described were given a specific and long-discontinued medical treatment which involved injecting patients with material now known to have been contaminated with disease-related proteins.

An NIH panel is set to convene an urgent meeting amid fears thousands of Americans may have been put at risk of 'catching' Alzheimer's.

A bombshell UK study published Monday found evidence of at least five people 'caught' the memory-robbing disorder from a now-banned hormone treatment.

The growth hormones - harvested from the bodies of dead people - were riddled with toxic amyloid-beta protein 'seeds', or prions, which were shown to cause early-onset dementia.

Hidden National-Toxicology-Program Report Declares Fluoride Makes Children Stupid

February 7, 2024 3:32 pm by CWR

In the meta-analysis by NTP, 52 of 55 studies revealed a decrease in children’s IQ with an increase in fluoride. Internal emails discovered through FOIA have shown that this extremely alarming report by NTP was hidden from the public by Assistant Health Sec. Rachel Levine.

On my first day in office, I will begin a review of the heads of our regulatory agencies. Farmed salmon producers are feeding GMO canola oil to fish
02/14/2024 // Ethan Huff
In a shocking turn of events, authorities in Norway have approved genetically modified (GMO) canola oil as feed for its farmed salmon industry, despite the fact that GMO canola is grown using a banned herbicide called glufosinate that was withdrawn from the French market back in 2017 for damaging human reproduction.

According to reports, the Norwegian Food Safety Authority (NFSA) approved the GMO canola oil for its salmon industry because it was unnaturally genetically engineered to contain omega-3 fatty acids, which when they occur naturally in nature are healthy for the body.

Also known as NS-B50027-4, the GMO canola oil was specifically developed as a land-based source of marine "fishy" acids, as they are also called. Norwegian authorities say this is environmentally beneficial since farmed salmon are already fed fish oil to boost their omega-3 levels.

"Wild fish get their omega-3 from eating algae," reports The Defender, citing GMWatch. "But wild fish stocks are depleted and the price of fish oil has risen, meaning that the amount of fish oil in salmon feed has decreased markedly in recent years."

The 'Aquaterra' omega-3 canola oil is being promoted as sustainable in the media by Nofima, a Norwegian research institute that conducts research and development for the aquaculture industry. Its scientists carried out research on Aquaterra omega-3 canola oil."

(Related: Did you know that the farmed salmon industry laces artificial dyes into its pale salmon meat to make it look more appealing to consumers?)

GMO canola oil linked to wing deformities in butterflies – what does it do to humans?

It turns out that the GMO canola oil also fixes another major problem with Norway's farmed salmon industry: the lack of natural "pink" pigment in the fish meat, pink that normally comes from astaxanthin as it develops naturally in wild salmon as they go about their lives.

Farmed salmon might technically be salmon at the scientific level, but it is hardly the same thing as real wild salmon. As such, Norway is trying to artificially boost the color levels in its farmed salmon industry to make the fish end product appear more desirable to the eye and to the palate.

While it might seem to some that lacing fish food with GMO canola oil artificially enriched with omega-3 fatty acids is good for both humans and the environment, the opposite is actually true.

Past research published in the journal PLoS One found that artificially laced omega-3 GMO crops damage the environment, including by inflicting deformities in pollinators like butterflies.

If artificially laced omega-3 GMO crops are doing this kind of thing to crop pests, what might they be doing to humans who eat the end product, in this case GMO-fed salmon from Norway's "factory" salmon farms?

"The study was not on GM canola, but on the fish oils that such GM crops are engineered to contain," GMWatch reported.

"The researchers found that when the long chain omega-3 fatty acids found in fish oil – eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) – were fed to cabbage white butterflies, the insects grew into heavier adults and had a higher frequency of wing deformities."

Commenting on these latest developments, Dr. Angelika Hilbeck, senior scientist at the Institute of Integrative Biology at ETH Zurich in Switzerland, noted that the study in question provides unique insight into the dangers and risks of these types of GMO crops.

"The fact that these compounds [long-chain omega-3 fatty acids] are novel in terrestrial systems has been entirely overlooked until this study," Dr. Hilbeck said. "I congratulate the authors for having raised the issue of this important ecological risk before these crops are planted on a significant scale."

The latest news about the GMO takeover of the global food supply can be found at GMO.news.

EPA again OKs use of toxic herbicide linked to Parkinson’s disease

Agency’s draft report backs paraquat’s safety but lawsuit’s plaintiffs say EPA ignored evidence of Parkinson’s risk

Sun 11 Feb 2024 07.00 EST

The US Environmental Protection Agency is doubling down on its controversial finding that a toxic herbicide is safe for use across millions of acres of American cropland, despite what public health advocates characterize as virtual “scientific proof” the product causes Parkinson’s disease.

The agency in 2021 reapproved paraquat-based herbicides for use, but a coalition of agricultural and public health groups sued, charging that the EPA had ignored broad scientific consensus linking the substance to Parkinson’s.

The EPA agreed to reassess the most current science, but last week released a new draft report reaffirming the substance’s safety. But the lawsuit’s plaintiffs say the agency again ignored evidence of the Parkinson’s risk, including dozens of peer-reviewed studies sent to it by the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

By re-approving the “highly lethal” substance, the EPA has “violated the law” and put industry interests before public health, the plaintiffs allege.

“There is an incredibly overwhelming body of evidence on this that has been accepted by scientists across the globe, and the EPA’s decision really placed it at odds with the best available science,” said Jonathan Kalmuss-Katz, a senior attorney with Earthjustice, the suit’s lead plaintiff.

The EPA’s decision is the latest salvo in a decades-long battle over the use of paraquat, which is a highly effective weed killer. Elsewhere, Syngenta, which produces the substance, has lost – nearly 60 countries have banned paraquat. A state-owned Chinese company bought Syngenta in 2017, but China still prohibits the product, as do the UK and EU.

About 8m pounds annually are sprayed on US grapes, almonds, soya beans, cotton and other crops, most commonly in California’s Central Valley, Iowa and the Mississippi River Valley. The substance’s use tripled in the US between 2008 and 2018.

Research shows the paraquat interferes with dopamine production and regulation, and people with Parkinson’s have reduced dopamine levels. Paraquat is also linked to respiratory damage and kidney disease, and ingestion of a single teaspoon is considered deadly.

80% of Americans test positive for chemical found in Cheerios, Quaker Oats that may cause infertility, delayed puberty: study

By Social Links for Shannon Thaler
Published Feb. 15, 2024, 9:24 a.m. ET

Four out of five Americans are being exposed to a little-known chemical found in popular oat-based foods — including Cheerios and Quaker Oats — that is linked to reduced fertility, altered fetal growth, and delayed puberty.

The Environmental Working Group published a study in the Journal of Exposure Science & Environmental Epidemiology on Thursday that found a staggering 80% of Americans tested positive for a harmful pesticide called chlormequat.

The “highly toxic agricultural chemical” is federally allowed to be used on oats and other grains imported to the US, according to the EWG. When applied to oat and grain crops, chlormequat alters a plant’s growth, preventing it from bending over and thus making it easier to harvest, per the EWG.

Lawsuit FILED, Seeks Ban on Public Water Fluoridation Without Informed Consent

15 Feb 2024

Via FlourideAlert.org:

“The Lead attorney for the Plaintiffs is Michael Connett of the Law Firm Waters Kraus and Paul with offices across the country including Dallas, Texas.

Michael Connett says, ‘The court has one question before it, and that is: Does fluoridation present an unreasonable risk of neurodevelopmental effects? … If the court rules that it does, then the EPA will be mandated by law to take action to address that risk.’”

The airtight gist of the lawsuit, near impossible to argue against — try as the government’s lawyers will to refute it anyway — goes like this:

·       Informed consent mandates that the patient (in this case, the public) be fully apprised of the drug or medical procedure on offer, including the relevant risks and benefits

·       Fluoridating the water supply is a de facto medication, administered with the alleged goal of promoting dental health

·       The government does not solicit informed consent from the patient (the public) prior to dumping fluoride into the water supply

·       The government is in violation of informed consent

The evidence that fluoride lowers IQ, among other detrimental effects, even in concentrations deemed “safe” by Public Health™ authorities, is robust and legion.

Via Environmental Health:

“Within the brain, fluoride appears to accumulate in regions responsible for memory and learningThe MCLG [maximum contaminant level goal] for fluoride (4 mg/L)is clearly not protective of adverse effects on the brain, especially in regard to early-life exposures…

Out of the 18 studies that provided the water-fluoride concentrations, 13 found deficits at levels below the MCLG, with an average elevated level at 2.3 mg/L, the lowest being 0.8 mg/L [4]…. and extend the documentation of cognitive deficits associated with only slightly elevated exposures.”

Via The Journal of Neurosciences in Rural Practice:

“Exposure to fluoride is associated with reduced intelligence in children. We have found a significant inverse relationship between intelligence and the water fluoride level, and intelligence and the urinary fluoride level.”

The question must be asked: what interest would the government have in lowering the IQ of the public it oversees?

How would a lobotomized public serve its interests, in this, Our Sacred Democracy™?

Is the benefit merely limited to generating more MSNBC viewers?

Or might there be other utilities for dumbing down the rubes?

Johnson & Johnson Finally Admits: Our Baby Products Contain Cancer-Causing Ingredients

Jun 24, 2019

Carly Fraser

The Environmental Working Group, a non-profit environmental research organization, describes the dangers of the ingredients used in Johnson & Johnson products. These ingredients include quaternium-15 and 1,4-dioxane.

Quaternium-15 is a formaldehyde-releasing preservative, and well-known carcinogen that causes burning sensations in the eyes, nose and throat; watery eyes; wheezing; nausea; and skin irritation. Daily exposure is linked with leukaemia and brain cancer.

In fact, the North American Contact Dermatitis Group considers quaternium-15 to be among the most clinically significant contact allergens in children.

Other formaldehyde-releasing chemicals used by Johnson & Johnson include DMDM hydantoin, imidazolidinyl urea, and diazolidinyl urea.

Texas Sues Pfizer for ‘Endangering Children’ by Selling Ineffective ADHD Drug

by Suzanne Burdick, Ph.D. | The Defender

Acting on behalf of the state of Texas, Attorney General Ken Paxton on Monday unsealed a lawsuit against Pfizer and its drug manufacturer, Tris Pharma, alleging the companies sold medication to children even though they knew the drug was ineffective and potentially unsafe.

The suit, filed in the Harrison County District Court, alleges Pfizer knowingly distributed a drug used for treating attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) to children on Medicaid — despite the drug’s pattern of failing quality control tests.

The drug, Quillivant XR, is a stimulant that affects brain and nerve chemicals involved in hyperactivity and impulse control.

From 2012-2018, “Pfizer and Tris continually manipulated Quillivant testing to hide poor manufacturing practices and defraud the Texas Medicaid program,” according to a press release.

During those years, many families complained that the medication failed to work.

New Study DESTROYS SSRI Antidepressant Scam

Friday, Feb 16, 2024 - 19:12

Originally published via Armageddon Prose:

The last couple of years have been hell for the SSRI hustle.

First, in 2022, landmark research shot a God-sized hole in the “low serotonin causes depression” biochemical voodoo narrative, previously accepted uncritically as Gospel and which has sustained the multi-billion-dollar SSRI racket for decades.

Via Molecular Psychiatry:

“Our comprehensive review of the major strands of research on serotonin shows there is no convincing evidence that depression is associated with, or caused by, lower serotonin concentrations or activity. Most studies found no evidence of reduced serotonin activity in people with depression compared to people without, and methods to reduce serotonin availability using tryptophan depletion do not consistently lower mood in volunteers. High quality, well-powered genetic studies effectively exclude an association between genotypes related to the serotonin system and depression, including a proposed interaction with stress. Weak evidence from some studies of serotonin 5-HT1A receptors and levels of SERT points towards a possible association between increased serotonin activity and depression. However, these results are likely to be influenced by prior use of antidepressants and its effects on the serotonin system. The effects of tryptophan depletion in some cross-over studies involving people with depression may also be mediated by antidepressants, although these are not consistently found.”

Bet you didn’t see that report on Fox News or MSNBC!

Unvarnished veritas: the reason you tune into independent media like Armageddon Prose.

Legacy media producers/executives/news actors know how their bread gets buttered, and it’s not by informing their audience; it’s by selling (patented) erectile dysfunction and depression drugs wall-to-wall on every commercial break and keeping their mouths shut about the industry’s lies and abuses in between said commercial breaks.

Now, in research published late last year, we learn that psychotherapy alone not only beats antidepressants alone for combatting depression, but that it beats the combination of both!

In other words, antidepressants are worse than useless for treating depression in tandem with psychotherapy.

Via Frontiers in Psychiatry:

“The results showed that antidepressant exposure significantly increased the risk of suicide and suicide attempt when compared with no antidepressant usage among children and adolescents…

Among the antidepressants, SSRI use was associated with an increased risk of suicide and suicide attempt…

In addition, the risk of suicide and suicide attempt between SSRIs and other antidepressants was similar…

Clinicians should evaluate carefully their patients and be cautious with patients at risk to have treatment emergence or worsening of suicidal ideation (TESI/TWOSI) when prescribing antidepressants to children and young patients.

Thirty-four relevant RCTs were includedPsychotherapy-only was stronger than combined treatment (1.9% v. 3.7%; OR 1.96 [1.20–3.20], p = 0.012) and ADM-only (3.0% v. 5.6%; OR 0.45 [0.30–0.67], p = 0.001) in decreasing the likelihood of [severe adverse events] in the primary and trim-and-fill sensitivity analyses. Combined treatment was better than ADM-only in reducing the probability of SAEs (6.0% v. 8.7%; OR 0.74 [0.56–0.96], p = 0.029), but this comparative efficacy finding was non-significant in the sensitivity analyses. Subgroup analyses revealed the advantage of psychotherapy-only over combined treatment and ADM-only for reducing SAE risk among children and adolescents and the benefit of combined treatment over ADM-only among adults. Overall, psychotherapy and combined treatment outperformed ADM-only in reducing the likelihood of SAEs, perhaps by conferring strategies to enhance reasons for living. Plausibly, psychotherapy should be prioritized for high-risk youths and combined treatment for high-risk adults with MDD.”

As Pfizer exhorted the peasants at this year’s Super Bowl commercial pageantry, “Here’s to Science™”! (Except when it runs to counter to financial interests; then it gets defunded and shelved and its practitioners run out of the field and any professional licenses confiscated by the state.)

This enables them to identify specific pigments and other ingredients in the various inks. They presented preliminary results at a 2022 meeting of the American Chemical Society. They found that many ingredients didn't appear on the manufacturers' labels, such as one ink that contained ethanol even though it was not listed on the label. And 23 of the inks analyzed by that point showed evidence of an azo-containing dye. Such pigments are usually inert, but exposure to bacteria or UV light can cause them to degrade into a nitrogen-based compound that could potentially cause cancer.
