Guess the armaments industry felt left out with all the free gov handouts of late, and wanted a piece of the action $$

Didn't they give another load of this shit to those taliban dudes? Just handing it out for free! So we can make some more with tax payers money. Lovely!

I was thinking exactly that when i saw the headline about Russia wanting to install their own puppet. According to 'fact' checkers he had nothing to do with it though. Hilarious.

US orders 8,500 troops on heightened alert amid Russia worry

ROBERT BURNS and LORNE COOK
Mon, January 24, 2022, 1:32 AM

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Pentagon ordered 8,500 troops on higher alert Monday to potentially deploy to Europe as part of a NATO “response force” amid growing concern that Russia could soon make a military move on Ukraine. President Joe Biden consulted with key European leaders, underscoring U.S. solidarity with allies there.

Putting the U.S.-based troops on heightened alert for Europe suggested diminishing hope that Russian President Vladimir Putin will back away from what Biden himself has said looks like a threat to invade neighboring Ukraine.

At stake, beyond the future of Ukraine, is the credibility of a NATO alliance that is central to U.S. defense strategy but that Putin views as a Cold War relic and a threat to Russian security. For Biden, the crisis represents a major test of his ability to forge a united allied stance against Putin.  https://www.yahoo.com/news/eu-set-show-unity-russia-083219922.html

A Ukrainian National Guard service-member was detained following the attack, which left four soldiers and a worker dead at a state-owned machine-building factory in eastern city of Dnipro.

A woman was among the dead, and doctors are "fighting" to save the lives of those injured, Ukraine's Interior Minister Denys Monastyrsky said on Facebook, where he sent his condolences to the victims' family and friends.

Pentagon asks Russia to ‘stand down’ on Ukraine

Friday, 28 January 2022 8:50 PM

The Pentagon called on Moscow to “stand down” on Ukraine after the United States ratcheted up tensions with a claim that Russia is about to invade its neighbor.

Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin told reporters on Friday that Moscow has for months been massing troops along Ukraine’s border at a “consistent and steady pace.”

He added that the troop build-up has been supported by Russian naval activity in the northern Atlantic and the Mediterranean Sea.

“We don't believe that President Putin has made a final decision to use these forces against Ukraine,” Austin said. “He clearly now has that capability.”

We strongly encourage Russia to stand down and to pursue a resolution through diplomacy,” he continued. “Armed force should always be the last resort. Success here is through dialogue.”

Yep, while borish johnson, and biden is pushing russia into it, they pretend that they are not, by claiming it would be tragic.

Ukraine before civil war had no problem with being next to russia.

Its tel aviv, london, and washington, that pushed ukraine into this.

Exclusive-Senior separatist urges Russia to send 30,000 troops to east Ukraine

Anton Zverev
Mon, February 7, 2022, 9:49 AM

By Anton Zverev

DONETSK, Ukraine (Reuters) - An influential separatist commander in eastern Ukraine has urged Russia to send 30,000 soldiers to reinforce rebel forces fighting in the breakaway Donetsk region and to operate new weapons systems he hopes Russia will supply.

The Kremlin did not immediately respond when asked to comment on the request by Alexander Khodakovsky, a former political leader in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic who now oversees a military unit.

The deployment of 30,000 Russian soldiers would further increase tensions between the West and Moscow over a Russian troop build-up near Ukraine.

Khodakovsky said he thought separatist forces would be defeated if they faced a major offensive by Ukrainian government forces in a conflict that began in 2014, and urged Russia to send Grad and Uragan multiple rocket launcher systems.

Khodakovsky said the Donetsk separatists had 30,000 fighters of their own, but only 10,000 were fit for frontline duties.

"We need to have at least 40,000, but 40,000 with automatic rifles on the frontline," Khodakovsky told Reuters in an interview,

Worse Than Obama's Red Line: Biden Gives Putin Green Light to Invade Ukraine

That doesn't sound like a green light:

During a Wednesday press conference, President Joe Biden gave Russia what some called a “green light” to invade Ukraine with minimal consequences.

Biden said he expects Russian President Vladimir Putin to take some sort of action to “move in” and invade Ukraine, and that the U.S. response “depends on what he does,” according to The Washington Post. “I probably shouldn’t go any further, but … I think it will hurt him badly,” Biden said.

“He’s never seen sanctions like the ones I promised would be imposed if he moves,” Biden said. “What you’re going to see is that Russia will be held accountable if it invades.”

Ukraine could drop NATO bid to avoid war, ambassador tells BBC

Sun, February 13, 2022, 11:28 PM

(Reuters) -Ukraine could drop its bid to join NATO to avoid war with Russia, the BBC quoted the country's ambassador to Britain as saying, in what would amount to a major concession to Moscow in response to the build-up of Russian troops on its borders.

Ambassador Vadym Prystaiko told the BBC Ukraine was willing to be "flexible" over its goal to join the Atlantic military alliance, a move Russian President Vladimir Putin has said would be a trigger for war.

"We might - especially being threatened like that, blackmailed by that, and pushed to it," Prystaiko was quoted as saying when asked if Kyiv could change its position on NATO membership.

KYIV: Ukraine has intensified its retaliations. Ukraine’s military has claimed that at least 50 Russian occupiers were killed. Earlier, there were reports stating that five Russian planes and a helicopter were destroyed. However, Russia has not yet commented on the causalities on its side. Russia is launching attacks from air and land routes. News agencies have reported that continuous explosions were heard in Ukraine’s capital city Kyiv.

Meanwhile, Ukraine has ended all of its diplomatic relations with Russia. President Volodymyr Zelensky has sought the support of Russian people as well.
