We can the put an initially silent W at the start of Oxford giving us Woxford, overtime with further degeneration of language, the W will start to be pronounced and we will have Woxford University pronounced Wokesford. Maybe these places were all corrupt from day one..... at least it's all coming out in the wash now I suppose............... But at this rate there won't be anything left......
