atenea
Mainstream 'Science' is nothing more than observing what's perceived through the 5 senses. Therefore it will always be wrong. The best science is our own individidual experience.
RobSS
"Art is the tree of life. Science is the tree of death." – William Blake ("The Damnation of Newton: Goethe's Colour Theory and Romantic Perception", by Frederick Burwick, p.8) "Mathematics would certainly have not come into existence if one had known from the beginning that there was in nature no exactly straight line, no actual circle, no absolute magnitude." (Nietzsche, Human All-Too-Human, as quoted in: The Puzzle Instinct: The Meaning of Puzzles in Human Life, by Marcel Danesi, p.71, 2004)
RobSS
From an essay by Philip Coppens, "William Blake: What paintings of visions come?" Newton is probably his most famous painting, in which the physicist is cast in the role of the Great Architect of the Universe – revealing a strong influence of Freemasonry. Foreshadowing Dali, who would claim to be the first painter of the world of quantum physics, Blake seems to have been the first painter of the world of physics. But his mind was definitely quantum physical, if not even more modern. He is centuries ahead of Rupert Sheldrake when Blake writes: “Matter, as wise logicians say, cannot without a form subsist, and form, say I, as well as they, must fail if matter brings no grist.” Did he reject Newton and the scientific approach? In life, Blake did not object to reason, but did not submit to its authority, seeing it merely as the agent of a partial truth. Indeed, speaking on consciousness – which he labelled Imagination – he stated that it was not subject to matter, echoed in one of his other famous sayings, "If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is, infinite.” "Newton" by William Blake:

Puddleglum
Quote Let's be generous and assume that Brian has a soul. He is going to be so surprised when he gets to the Pearly Gates and finds that he still exists.
Apotheosis
The existence of "the soul", as that word has been understood in the Western philosophical tradition beginning with the Greek psyche, is a phenomenological fact. That is so without even considering the other fact here, namely that the atomic objects of particle physics are unobservable theoretical objects postulated by the mind from the phenomenological content of "the soul". Brian Cox is an idiot.

"Science" continually postulates things which are beyond sense perception and don't logically follow from any of its data. Particle physics is a prime example.

There's only one place he is going....... him and his shitty band have the deaths of millions of Iraqis on their hands.... Things Can Only Get Better? Not for you you Cox. I've done many silly things in my life but I never made the song to secure the election of man who would go onto to murder at least a million Iraqis and lead to decades of conflict...... Well done cunto. You've got blood on your hands...... That's why he's an atheist... because he knows that any other possibility damns him as being an accessory to mass murder.... Grumpy Grapes
Brian Cox and the comedian Robin Ince regularly present the BBC Radio 4 series "The Infinite Monkey Cage", which promotes mainstream science and continually takes a condescending swipe at anything not deemed to be 'scientific'.
