That way madness lies.....

King Lear Act 3 Scene 4.

There's more to life than just facts.

"Reason is intelligence taking exercise. Imagination is intelligence with an erection." - Victor Hugo

"Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were, but without it we go nowhere." - Carl Sagan

"Vision is the art of seeing things invisible." - Jonathan Swift

"Stories of imagination tend to upset those without one." - Terry Pratchett

"Logic will get you from A to Z; imagination will get you everywhere." - Albert Einstein

"Everything you can imagine is real." - Pablo Picasso

"Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life's coming attractions." - Albert Einstein

"Reality can be beaten with enough imagination." - Mark Twain

If you only believe in facts, you only end up putting your intellect on a pedestal, and you start worshipping facts, which is a form of idolatry. You end up sacrificing reason:

Well the difference is Rob I'm actually laying it out logically and systematically and not relying on fiction and metaphors.

I actually quoted from the Bible to show you how the cabbalists work.

You're only repeating what I already wrote in a previous post.

Well the difference is Rob I'm actually laying it out logically and systematically and not relying on fiction and metaphors.

Facts are the things which are imprinted in reality and do not change. We use them to measure our reality.

I have my vision but I strengthen it with facts.... this is the work of scholars and philosophers from time memorial.....

You are welcome to be an idle dreamer..... but that is all you are, unless you can put some order into your musings...

You need to be careful with imagination because it can mislead, I agree, but I did actually quote from the Bible to show how the cabbalists invert the truth. Ironically, it's your imagination that's misleading you, as you only see what you want to see, and you only imagine that I only use my imagination. I use facts too. You have to be able to use both for a balanced mind... you have create a balance between the intellect and intuition. If you only accept facts and the intellect, that's actually idolatry.

Looking too much into the Kabbalah can make you go that way, which is why the Kabbalists always followed the letter of the law instead of following the spirit. You're in danger of becoming like the Kabbalists.

The tune is always the same with you Rob.... we're all wrong and only you are right...about everything it seems.

And even when we're right (which you would never acknowledge) you can make that into a character flaw.

Your ego palace is truly impregnable isn't it?

Good for you... but I wonder why you need to fortify yourself so and cannot allow yourself to give any time or consideration to other people......

That's somewhat solipsistic.... living in your own private fantasy bubble where no-one else has any importance or can teach you anything....

I think as your time on this forum has shown... you are somewhat denying reality and choosing to create your own fantasy realm..... but the key to humanity is to try to help us all understand our shared experience.... which doesn't seem to be your thing.

You're starting to use the royal "we" again to inflate your own self-importance. Just speak for yourself and you'll be understood much better.

At least I am reasoning things out. You do what Jehovah's Witnesses do. As soon as you ask them questions they can't answer, they start reacting just like you.

You're always the same. When you can't reason and back up your point of view, you start deflecting, and as for ego, you're simply projecting again.

Thanks, I've just bookmarked it to watch later on. Looks interesting.

There's also interesting symbolism in the recent (-sh) Tim Burton film, "Alice Through the Looking Glass", which features a Chronosphere...

That avatar of yours looks like a black-hole..... sucking everything into its maw but giving out nothing.

You can't debate logically but instead you lapse into these personal jibes and attacks.....

You're good at that.... but you're not good at facts or anything not centred around YOU and YOUR feelings....

The world doesn't revolve around you though.

That's why we deal with facts.... so as not to become trapped by the madness of solipsism.

And when I say 'we' I mean... humanity and its ongoing empirical quest to understand reality....

That's kind of self-evident..... but snidey Rob is always looking for a soft belly to bite.

Well you must love the present day because our world has abandoned reason.

That's the danger of this kind of fluffy thinking..... it gets you into a world with no law, no truth and where nothing is logically consistent..... and we now live in that world Mac.

That's meaningless nonsense.

Think for yourself buddy.

I think the problem with the world is that we have been forced to abandon our prejudices, even though they protected our culture and civilisation for a thousand years or more....

More deflection and sour grapes on your part - again.

Regarding my avatar, if that's what you read into it, then that's only a reflection of your own state of mind. By your confused logic, it's just a circle! 🙂

I'm happy to debate, but you keep deflecting and you never answer questions. Answer this, if you please: If imagination is such a worthless thing, in your opinion, why did authors such as C.S. Lewis and Tolkien use the medium of art and imagination to convey truths that they deemed to be important? Now if you are a reasonable person, do please answer that question, otherwise you're just wasting time.

Could you also answer the question: Do you see any truth in films such as "Dark City" and "They Live"? I've asked that question several times this afternoon, and you have the audacity to claim I'm the one who isn't reasoning. Go on, answer the questions please, and show how reasonable you can be, cheers.

Interesting comment. Jung also said, “The fact is that archetypal images are so packed with meaning in themselves that people never think of asking what they really do mean."

the cabal is using everyones prejudices against you

that's what intersectionality is all about. It is about using overly simplified narratives about history to create grievance politics so that people will resent YOU and not the oligarchic class

It is about fanning the flames of prejudice against white people, against christianity and against the family and then unleashing those resentful and myopically focussed people against you

I highly recommend anyone watching that video.

This video asks the question, should we fear AI? I don't think so, as it's important to keep in mind, especially in these surreal times that fear is merely False Evidence Appearing Real.

We are spirit lit up by figments of our imaginations.

Not everyone wants to acknowledge that we are essentially spirit. It's only the mind that creates the illusion that we are just a mechanical creature with no spirit, and therefore, the mind constantly tries to trick us into believing that the only thing that is tangible, are things that are physical, factual, and can be scientifically measured. That's when artificial intelligence begins to flourish because AI only recognises facts. AI cannot imagine anything in a way that a human can. To be able to day dream, and to experience imagination, is what makes us human. Anything less than that is alien.
