I never heard of this one. Looks like the man died in 2016. Sounds very similar to the idea that I thought I came up with in the technology thread. https://www.greencarcongress.com/2016/06/20160627-mdi.html
DaleP
I read somewhere that China is having to schedule planned power cuts due to shortage of electricity created by increased demand of electricity to charge cars. lol Is it coming near you? How are we going to cope?

Where will the electricity to charge the cars come from? How will you charge your car if you don't have a garage or off-road parking? Now for niche vehicles it works a treat. Converting things like buses and Post Office vans to electric would work well to reduce air pollution. Heavens, I might even buy an electric motorbike. But everybody and his mother driving electric vehicles? No. The real problem with buying electric cars isn't just the fact they cost a small fortune, but the cost of buying, and maintaining a large trailer type vehicle to store your 800 miles long extension lead in! Just imagine, you live in Barnstaple in Devon and you decide to drive to Aberdeen, but once you get there, your missus back in Devon decides to unplug your lead to plug the vacuum in, meanwhile you're 430 miles away wondering why the leccy has gorn orf? Will this be the next thing to help save the planet? THE ALL ELECTRIC PORTABLE TOILET FOR BUSY PEOPLE ON THE MOVE! DaleP
The charging stations are already obsolete. Toshiba has developed an Electric Vehicles (EVs) that runs without plug-in charging. Unlike the current solar panel models, the film is flexible, light and no need for any rare earth material, and unaffected by the shortage of semiconductors. Part 1 https://www.toshiba-clip.com/en/detail/p=3289 Part2 https://www.toshiba-clip.com/en/detail/p=3294 Separate from the above but somewhat similar, I found this while searching and it is rather worrying. Do you like the look of it? They say 'Human motion' but who knows they might switch it to 'emotion' then you know they will be torturing us to create more emotion. You will be pedalling in a gym to generate electricity. Which film was that? There was that black British actor.... https://www.mdpi.com/2673-706X/2/1/6/htm Edited November 15, 2022 by DaleP

Sit down, Waldo
Family member has acquired a new Tesla. 1st motorway trip & estimated range was enough to get home, but only just. On the return journey the was a charger not far off the motorway. Rolled up, plugged in...quick charge takes 20 mins, so they went for a coffee. When they returned there were 5 Tesla's queued up behind them & a 6th approaching. Imagine being at the back of that.
