DoTheScience
I'm lower class and have no class. If it's aesthetic, I don't do it. Anyway, my teeth are in perfect condition, well apart from not being whitened. No issues. Why? I'm not stuffing my mouth with sugar but mainly and in particular I don't drink soft drinks. In the lower classes we have a better sense of what's really necessary and unnecessary. In consumer culture most necessities are not so. When we look at the shelves things like deodorant are completely useless. Why would you need that? Why do I bring this up? Well it reminds me a lot of COVID-19. They made the illness themselves and then the vaccine for it. The same for brushing our teeth, now something deemed essential to do extremely regularly but in reality they created the problem with stupid drinks that rot your teeth.

CrowintheSnow
DoTheScience, I am not sure I 100% agree. I eat a good diet too, but one thing I do look after is my teeth. No, mine are not whitened either. But they get a good scrub every night and morning. I use bicarb. of soda and also have a good herbal toothpowder which looks like mud and is pretty gritty but tastes good. NO FLUORIDE! I don't trust dentists any more than I trust doctors. As much as I possibly can, I take things into my own hands. Herbal medicines for any ailment, look after my own teeth. I had abscesses in the past and that meant their toxic antibotics which wreck the gut, therefore immune system etc. And when you're in that much pain even a nuclear bomb sounds like a good idea...

Do have to wonder how early man survived without mouth washes, electric toothbrushes, manual toothbrushes, dental floss .....

Twigs, hair, feathers, bone, etc. Personally i don't like to go more than a day without a solid brush. Too much crap collects on them and my breath probably stinks. AllanJoshua
Hi there! It's good that you maintain good oral hygiene. Brushing regularly can help prevent different health issues. Some products and services are marketed as necessary, but they may not be as essential as they are made out to be.
webtrekker
Brushed my gnashers for all of my 71 years and still have most of them left in good nick. However, I have stopped drinking fizzy soda drinks over the last 10 to 15 years, not that I ever drank many anyway. I've also never used mouthwash, horrible stuff! If you’re after an alternative then charcoal is a good replacement for toothpaste. Frayed twigs are also becoming a popular toothbrush replacement. Since quitting smoking my gnashers are getting white, I use Aloedent which is fluoride free, but bloody expensive now so one scrub a day for me

In the case of teeth whitening, it's primarily a cosmetic procedure. Not everyone may feel the need for it. As for your lower class, you may be more vulnerable to COVID-19. One for the older generation here, Linda Lovelace famous for the soft porn film 'Deep Throat' was told by her dentist that 'she had the best set of teeth he'd ever cum across'!
