Perfectly normal.

It must be, for BBC News. I can't see that they have even reported on this serious update to the health of Overmars, though they did report on him having a suspected 'mild stroke', at the end of December.

19th Jan - Former Arsenal and Holland winger Marc Overmars, 49, suffers 'irreparable' damage to his heart - which is 'only able to pump blood at 30 per cent of its normal volume' following a cardiac arrest last month

His heart is said to be pumping blood at 30 per cent of its normal volume

Overmars, 49, was admitted to hospital on December 29th

Comments section;

Sir Cecil, San Francisco, USA

A lot of rubbish. An ejection fraction of 30 does NO mean the heart is pumping at 30% of "normal". A normal or ideal ejection fraction is between about 55% to 60%. A borderline ejection fraction can range between 41% and 50%. In other words, an ejection fraction of 30% is about HALF "normal". In fact, an ejection fraction over 70% can be dangerous in itself and indicate hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

P.s. article also mentions; He quit his role as director of football at Ajax in disgrace after sending 'inappropriate messages' to female colleagues ...etc ...

Regardless of what Sir Cecil had to say, I think the upshot is that Mr. Overmars is quite ill.

Thanks numnuts. It took me years of talking with various doctors and nurses to realise exactly how much damage is done with heart attacks, and further heart attacks. At first they told me it was "scarring". When I asked what that meant, I realised a part of the heart dies. And to call an ambulance as quickly as possible, to get help and start the treatment. I'm going back a while, I think of this often when I think of waiting for ambulances today, but that's a long story 😉

Medical emergency at the Newcastle v Wolves game.

Strange that the game doesn't stop any longer but there's medics sprinting down the touchline as fans frantically wave their arms about.

It seems that staff at the BBC have been advised to not even report on such incidents any more. I found a mention, on The Guardian's live commentary match feed, but that's about it. And how many more incidents are we completely unaware of? Out of sight, out of mind.

'67 min I think there’s a medical emergency in the crowd but the match is continuing. A couple of Newcastle corners come to nothing.'

Not many stopped to consider that the science, experts and data were all lying. They knew that those three trigger words would prevent people's brains from being arsed to question what their ears were hearing.

There you have it in a nutshell. Folks on here hear the words science, experts, and data, and immediately think 'lies.'  I know I do, especially if the source is mainstream.

'Miami Open: Defending champion Iga Swiatek pulls out with injury.'

The Pole confirmed that she will take a break, meaning she is also set to miss the upcoming Billie Jean King Cup in April. She said: “You know that in and after Doha I was struggling with a strong infection. I was allowed to play, but a strong episode of tough cough led to a rib injury."

“I’m grateful this is the first health issue in a long time and I was able to compete in perfect shape for so long, but that’s sports, it happens sometimes, without our control."
