Brobot
Hi everyone. Been a lurker for many years and was signed up to the old forums but lost my login. Anyways Hello… I have a question… My wife is a school teacher for year 1 and reception class. She tested positive for covid 19 and is now in isolation. Now the nhs have asked her for details for track and trace and that I should self isolate as I haven’t been vaccinated. My work will not take to kindly to me having to take time off as I’m not vaccinated. I’m not sure how to handle this situation as I don’t want to explain why I don’t want to be vaccinated and they may not pay me for being off work. I was thinking of going to work as my wife is keeping herself isolated and I’m obviously showing no symptoms but track and trace might then start pinging people I work with as it will be perceived that I’ve been into contact with someone who has tested positive. So others will be advised to isolate making me look like the bad guy. I’m feeling pressured into getting the vaccine because of this. What’s the Best course of action? thank you. SimonTV
interesting to hear how the track and trace is coercing you in to getting the vaccine.

It's a strange quandary, and how you approach this all depends on your point of view I guess. Your wife 'tested positive' and is being forced to 'self-isolate'. Has she had the jabs? Does she have any 'Covid symptoms'? Also, it should make no difference whether you yourself have been 'jabbed' or not, if the NHS have advised you to self-isolate, then your employer will need to allow you time off to do this. This is the aspect that frustrates a lot of businesses, where perfectly healthy employees are unable to work due to being 'pinged', in particular in certain industries where employees cannot simply 'work from home'. The failure of logical thinking is astounding. If vaccinated people can still 'catch and spread the virus', then it makes no difference whether one is vaccinated or not, the theory being that those who have been 'jabbed' are less likely to end up in hospital or die from Covid. So really, in theory, the only people who are really 'at risk' are those who choose not to get vaccinated. But then again, there are people who are 'fully vaccinated' who still catch Covid and have been seriously ill or died, in which case what's the point of the vaccine? This is why I call Covid the "phantom menace" - because in the majority of 'cases', people have no symptoms (therefore they are not ill), yet they still have to be quarantined like diseased lepers, and same goes for perfectly healthy people who have been 'in contact'. I don't know what advice I can give you, other than if your employer starts putting pressure on you to 'get jabbed', tell them you will be looking for a new employer. Brobot
Many thanks for your replies. Luckily I told my employer that she had tested positive for covid and my employer said that should I show symptoms I would need to self isolate. Luckily I haven’t had any symptoms. I told my manager that I was told to self isolate and they asked if I was showing any symptoms… and as I wasn’t it was decided that I should go to work.
