Yuri Shvets, another former Soviet spy residing in the US, claims that the USSR cultivated Donald Trump since the 1970s, supporting his political ambitions and flattering him. For these people, it's just somewhere to hang out and socialise, when they're not sitting in the numerous cafes and takeaways also dotted along that stretch of the Stratford Road. I bet they don't even pay for their haircuts either. Ironically I noticed the other week that one of the African barbershops closed down, and is now a... wait for it... 24hr convenience store. You'll know the type, one of those that has strings of flashing multi-coloured LED lights adorning it, and cases of bottled water and toilet rolls stacked out the front. From my own observations of travelling around the region, there does seem to be a number of these popping up everywhere.
